Zombie Walk Mania!(And Food Trucks Galore!) SITREP It’s hiLARious when what once was a cutting-edge, alternative crowd event starts to become so acceptable that FAMILIES and OLDPEOPLE(…okay, like ME) start joining in the fray! THESETUP The core of the Zombie Walk remains the same: * Kick-ass festival kick-off at Roosevelt Park with lots of fun vendors * Only this time there is a sudden increase in the number of high-quality food-trucks that are participating, making for a yummy time * People dressing up as zombies, AND vampires, AND werewolves, AND zombie-vampire-werewolf KILLERS * And the centerpiece of fun being the *Zombie-Walk!* * Then finishing out the day/evening with a nice scary movie Zome changes, however: * This year the walk was down the R St. corridor and what a hoot that was! [Bambi and I actually got some great patio spots at the new WAL Public Market and that made for an ideal spot since the Zombie Marching Band stopped RIGHTFREAKININFRONTOFUS so that I captured some great video as well as pictures. * The movie night is no longer at the Crest Theatre, but now there is a large mobile movie screen that is set up on the lawn of Roosevelt Park which makes for just as nice a movie experience. KID-FAMILYFRIENDLY Once that has impressed me with the evolution of this alternative event is as the«core-constituency» of this wonderful cultural experience has continued to evolve, get older, get married, and HAVEKIDS, they BRINGTHEIRKIDSNOW! And so a 2nd generation of Zombies is being hatched into the mad fun!(Gotta love it!) :D THELOWDOWN The Zombie Walk still rulez the ztreetz of Zacramento! :D

Been excited about this Zombie Walk. First time doing it and I was not disappointed. Everything I expected. There were so many ppl dressed up like zombies. It was awesome. Any event that allows you to dress up and look like a character from The Walking Dead is great! Got here around 7, a lil b4 the The Dead Walk. Checked out some vendors and walked around admiring all the great zombie makeup ppl had on! Too bad we missed the Zombie Bikini Contest. Next time we will come a lil earlier.

If you’re into Halloween-like festivities this is your event. Those that know my obsession with Halloween(yes I do a Haunted House every year) would be shaking their heads at me because they already know that the concept of walking with hundreds of people dressed up like the walking dead had me at Hello! And it’s not even October yet. Mwahahaha. Apparently 2015 was the 15th annual of this Zombie Walk(thanks to Unilocal of course for listing this under events because I wouldn’t have found it otherwise) and it didn’t disappoint. I arrived mid walk around 8pm(walk started at 730). It was dark, and dare I say over 1000 zombies were walking in a mass up 10th St. Flashing light police escort and all. People were reallllllly into it. Some of the makeup and outfits are flat out amazing. I found the guys from Callson Manor(who do the HUGE haunted houses out in Old Roseville) and they tossed me a couple of free passes. SCORE! Vendors were some friendly peeps. You can even get your makeup done by these special FX pros for reasonable prices. I got a demo on how to use liquid latex to make some gnarly gashes. Also got to purchase some hand made latex scars for later use this year. Bonus was a showing– for free– of the classic Night Of The Living Dead. Only bummer was that all the food trucks started running out of damn near everything at 830. Boo. I will be back next year, my zombie friends, and this time in broad daylight to enjoy more festivities.
