This place never fails to please me! I like getting the orange chicken, chicken wings, lemon chicken, or anything else that involved chicken. Lol they’re 2 for $ 25 deal is really convenient because it comes with soup, entrees & desert! Everyone’s polite. But the one star off is due to the fact sometimes the food comes out in an awkwardly order, such as 30 minutes apart when it’s not busy.

My mouth waters just thinking about tans. I’ve dined in for lunch and dinner and did take out and each time all the items I ordered were excellent. First of all their prices are terrific, $ 6.95 for lunch can’t go wrong with that! I’ve tried the mapo tofu with rice and general chicken with chow mein. I was shocked at how large their portions were. Plus it wasn’t stuffed with filler food what you ordered is what you got, and the food was flavorful. You can try but I guarantee you’ll need a to go box. For dinner, I’ve tried the fried green beans, Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, lemon chicken, honey walnut chicken(yes, chicken not shrimp), bbq pork chow mein, duck chow fun, and fish in a clay pot. And I truly enjoyed each dish. Everything was cooked perfectly and I kept reaching for more. Again, prices are extremely reasonable. Whether you want to eat family style or order a dinner combo(similar to their lunch combo) the food is always quick, fresh, filling and tasty.

Same location as the former Hong Kong Café, which I enjoyed for the last 50 years. Been to this«new» place twice. Definitely updated menu /pricing and completely remodeled bldg. But this place is my fav Chinese restaurant in Sac now. Everything seemed very fresh. The fried calamari appetizer was excellent. Asparagus w/prawns, cashew chicken also were top notch. I live in the pocket area and this place blows away the places near my home. FAST friendly service.

We came across Tan’s by accident when another Chinese restaurant down the road was closed. My parents and I were skeptical but went in anyway. Service was good. We were greeted, provided beverages and the food came out quick. We ordered the Beef Stew, Chicken Curry, Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice, and Green Beans. EVERYTHING was delicious!!! My mom had thirds which is unheard of for her. My dad even took a menu home so he could order to-go when he’s too tired to cook. :-) I gave the restaurant four stars since this is our first visit, but will update to five if service and food are consistently good.

I love this place I moved to downtown and this is my go to place when I want Chinese food. I have went to them and always call for a To go since I’m always on the run. But every time I go I leave happy. If I could I would go everyday but sometimes I’m in a rush, i have been going there for a while now. I got 3 Togos last time and I can say my family now likes there food, it was there first time trying it and the portions are excellent I recommend trying this place if you’re in the area! I have tried the chicken, broccoli beef and spicy shrimp. So good(:

I like this place. Not many good options for Asian food in Sac. Service is a bit slow & unfriendly but adequate. The food tastes great with big portions for the price. Free soup appetizer but no tea. Free parking in lot, near freeways & downtown grid.

Customer service is horrible. No greeting, no farewell. When my to go order was ready, the person working did not even give me my order. Instead walked half way to me and placed it on a vacant table and walked away. When I grabbed the order, I had to ask him if this was even mine. I went in there for lunch and ordered the Lunch Combo 14, Beef with Black Bean Sauce. Excessive amount of GREASE. So much oil/grease was used when the person was cooking that oil/grease spilled out of the tray and made a nice healthy and yellow puddle in the bag. So much grease that there was a definitive separation between the oil/grease and the other sauces used for this dish. Maybe 3 – 4 millimeter in depth. Tasted just okay, but they did give out a copious amount of meat and vegetables though. I would have given this place a 4 star review if it wasn’t for the service.

This was my first visit to Tan’s and it was pretty good. I ordered the Mongolian Beef and it came with sweet and sour soup, fried rice, and broccoli. The soup was just barely warm and that sucked. It did have good flavor and was spicy. I bet too spicy for many. The plate came out quickly and looked good. The beef was great, but the fried rice was rather plain rice. Just a few specks of egg. It was good enough that I will go back when working in that part of town for sure

Had lunch here in mid-week after 2 p.m. and it was very disappointing. I don’t know if the regular cooks was on lunchbreak, but our chow mein was very bland and the sweet and sour soup was distinctively sour. This was far from was we thought was the norm at Tan’s so we will give it another chance, this time during lunch hour or dinner and not in the middle of the afternoon.

I love to eat but Chinese food isn’t the top of my list of cuisine but this place is fantastic. The service was really good. I was suspect of the place as it never seemed busy but when I went in I found the place to have beautiful décor and a calm ambience. I ordered the Sizzling Beef which came out hot and delicious. Full of flavor and not overpowered in oil and greasy. It was a just down right delicious.

So I was in the area and my usual Chinese spot was a bit out of the way so I swung by here. Upon arriving I noticed it was empty, no one here except the employees. They had 2.00 $ 16oz pbrs which was a pretty dang good price. I ordered the soup, fried rice and sesame chicken. Soup was good, rice was okay and the sesame chicken was awful. It had a off putting taste in the middle of chewing it. So off putting I couldn’t even try to finish it. Shame the chicken was awful because everything else was kinda okay and food is definitely reasonably priced. To be honest, probably won’t be back because of that sesame chicken, yuck

This place is phenomenal. Food is very good and extremely affordable. Mongolian beef, pineapple duck fried rice, chow mein were all done to perfection. If you haven’t been here yet, go now!

Wow — Super impressed wiht the food at this place. I had to stop eating Chinese food due to my gluten-allergies. I found three choices on the menu that the waiter confirmed for me had no soy sauce, and non-wheat noodles or rice. I order the Malaysia Chow Fun, and within a few bites was telling my buddy that this is the best plate of chow fun I have ever ordered — Hands down. So much flavor, and very generous portion. I am a big dude at just over 300lbs, and I took half my plate home in a box for dinnertime. I told them that I will be back soon, to explore my options on the expansive menu. Great job Tan!

I’ll need to try this place again. Their lunch deals are pretty good, $ 6.50 if I remember correctly, and it comes with rice and vegetables. I ordered the curry chicken. Stupid of me since I grew up in an Indian family and know what it should really taste like. Next time I’ll order something closer to actual Chinese food. Also, it was dead in there when I ordered. They are super cordial and I waited less than 10 minute for my food. Service may have improved compared to others’ complaints.

I patronized the previous establishment(Hong Kong Café) so many times I’ve lost count. I guess maybe I wanted to believe any succeeding restaurant could never be as good. Wrong wrong wrong. I visited for the first time today for two lunch combination plates to go. I almost dropped the bag the server gave me as it was way heavier than I thought it should be. When I opened the Styrofoam boxes I was shocked at the sheer volume of food. Perfectly cooked sweet sour chicken, delicious chow mein and great steamed rice. Each plate had enough to feed two hungry appetites. Definitely worth a return visit.

Stars: 2.5 One word: Salty. Lunch time specials are a good deal. It’s a good buy. It was a little bit on the saltier end for me. Service was decent, they were attentive. My dad ordered the mushroom chicken lunch special with rice. I like the rice with egg, that was tasty but the chicken was way too salty for us. The vegetables were decent. My dad couldn’t finish his dish because it was way too salty. I ordered the beef stew pan fried noodles. I like the noodles, but the sauce was on the saltier end. The beef was tender and not chewy, which I like. We added an appetizer, it was $ 3.59 for an order of calamari. It comes with sweet and sour sauce. This reminds me of fish sticks but calamari version. I like the green onions and scallions on top. I think the salt got to me… so I don’t want to go back.
