Located in the ghetto and small but the food is good. It’s very packed on the weekends so seating can be a pain and they have guys going around playing music for money sometimes which takes up more space. The food tho is worth it. The kids love the empanadas and the molcajete, pina relleno and camarones a la kora are by far my favorite. They even peel the shrimp if you ask, which for someone like me who sucks at peeling shrimp is nice. The micheladas are refreshing and never let me down. They seem to be everyone’s go to for the hangover cure from the night before. The price can get steep but it’s seafood so expected. Definitely a place to try if you like seafood.

Really good seafood! I highly recommend this place. It’s good to see seafood to be the dominant food at this place. The bacon wrapped shrimp and the mussel dish was very flavorful. I also had the 7 Mares Soup but I was way too full to judge it. It was good though. I will definately come back to try different things. I didn’t give it 5 stars because it closes at 8 and the neighborhood isn’t the greatest. The service was good.

Was in Sacramento recently with my father for a doctors appointment and found this place through Unilocal.Oh my gah! Sooooo yummy! My dad loved it so much that we made the trek again all the way from Stockton to have his birthday dinner there. Ps. Try their Mega Michelada! You’ll be mega borracho lol!

Any meal that starts with free ceviche gets my vote but in addition they serve great fresh seafood at a very affordable price. I will surely be back for more.

Fresh ceviche every time! We love to order the levanta muertos. I have had way better camarones a la kora, they make them too dry. That’s my only complaint :)

Joined the Sacramento Epicureans(my first time attending!) for their«Journey Into the Mexican Ocean» gathering here at Las Islitas for the month of March 2016. $ 30 for the event, all you can eat, listed drinks, tax, fees, gratuity included. Cash advised. Beer, or other regular menu items(such as raw oysters) were at own expense. Sacramento Epicureans is «for all who love food and socializing.» This group is all about good food, good people and sharing excellent family-owned restaurants with a wider audience. For more info visit: . Don’t know why I didn’t join sooner! What a fabulous seafood feast! This was an «eat-till-you-burst» type of event. Appetites brought, sleeves rolled up for such a marathon of food(not a sprint)! Plenty of space in this restaurant, too, although they did get a bit slammed with other large groups(birthday, etc.) of other customers. There was a little break in between, and many of us took food home once stuffed. An evening of South-Border flavors with a heavy focus on the goods of the sea. Fantastic, family-run restaurant with literally finger-licking-good Mexican seafood dishes. Food served family style at first, and most dishes had a bit of spice to them. To compensate, traditional Mexican aguas frescas(fresh, flavored waters) were served to keep things cool. Appetizers: –Shrimp Empanadas(deep-fried, house-made shrimp fritters) –Mejillones(grilled spicy mussels) –Fish Ceviche(fresh tilapia filets marinated in lime juice) –Kora-style spicy shrimp(the house specialty, grilled spicy peel-and-eat shrimp, with dry roasted peppers and house seasonings) Entrees: — Breaded Fried Shrimp — Chicken Fajitas — Steak Fajitas — Shrimp sautéed in house sauce with cheese(not spicy) Dessert: Made-from-scratch Mexican chocolate cake Drinks: Fountain sodas(Mexican Coca-Cola in bottles!) House made aguas including: –horchata(rice water and cinnamon) –tamarindo(tamarind) –jamaica(hibiscus) Apps first… The fish ceviche to start, with tortillas or crackers and lime was cool and refreshing. The next to come out was the camarones kora, my favorite of the night. The flavors of the grilled shrimp were on point! The shrimp empanadas came out hot and fresh, with the green chimichurri which had a real kick to it. The mussels were very good too, especially with the garlicky oil. I got a large horchata, and man was that ever a large beer mug! Not terribly sweet, some who got the Jamaica had to water it down. Entrees came out on huge individual platters with a little of everything on them: the chicken and steak fajita fillings(tortillas on the side), the breaded fried shrimp, and my second favorite, the sautéed shrimp with cheese… which in the menu above failed to mention would also be wrapped in BACON. The Mexican chocolate cake was light and a great way to end the meal. Overall, great turnout, friendly gathering and a ton of food. Fun fact, the Sac Epicureans are the ones who started SactoMoFo food truck roundups too! Tentatively, next month’s dinner event is Greek, then Italian, then Thai cuisine. Plenty of parking in the rear of the restaurant, easy to get to from the I-5 Florin Road East exit.

BEWARE… FOODPOISONING! My family was in the mood for Mexican so we stopped here for some good food. The was only one couple enjoying their meal when we arrived. The server brought us chips and a small dish of ceviche and we started with 1 dozen oysters, which were pretty tasty. I had the coćtel de camaron y ceviche de camaron tostada. There were way too many tomatoes in my cocktail and they had a very soft mushy texture, gross! My tostada was good, but I didn’t like the fact that they used long slivers of onions as opposed to finely chopped onions. The other members of my party shared one of the molcajete dishes. I tried one of the crab legs, it was terrible. The meat tasted like a bad fish stick(cat food)! The crab legs had probably been sitting in the freezer for a while and gotten freezer burnt. Overall the meal was edible. About a day and a half later I start feeling sick, just not well at all. I end up spending a day in the bathroom. I talk with my family who also had it coming out from both ends. We all had food poisoning. Needless to say we will NEVER eat there again!!!

We went there today(tuesday afternoon), it was pretty slow, but picked up around 1, we were greeted and told to sit wherever, they immediately brought us ceviche and tostadas(chips) with water and lemon. All was good. Hubby ordered caldo de siete mares(soup of seven seas) which was amazing. He ate it all and was stuffed and satisfied. I ordered camarones a la diabla(super spicy shrimp) came with beans, rice and salad. Our server was attentive and very nice. Very pleased with our visit and will definitely be back!(the only complaint I have is the booths were very uncomfortable! I was sinking inside the cushion, lol)

Drove an hour and 15 minutes to take my dad to this place and it was worth it! Both the food and the service was great. The waitress made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Will come to this place again!

Okay so the portions here are HUGE. I got the pineapple one and I couldn’t finish it, I think it would be great for two people to share it. The sauce it is cooked in is amazing! I loved this place and will definitely come back. The prices are reasonable and the quality of the food is excellent.

Never have I been any place like this. Delicious micheladas and food. I recommend if you love seafood and Mexican food. Tried the pineapple with seafood and shrimp empanadas. I was satisfied beyond what I imagined. It was enough for two and we had left overs.

Hole in the wall Mexican spot will definitely be getting more of my business. Couple friends told me about this place & im glad they did. It’s close by & very affordable. Surprisingly the seafood is more preferred then the Mexican food. Highly recommended.

This place is certainly a diamond in the rough. Tucked away behind a shopping center the little brick building wafts tasty scents as you approach. The interior looks like a little cantina in Mexico with hand painted murals and wood paneling. We were greeted immediately with a bowl of fresh ceviche, tostadas and saltines. Yum! The menu is seafood heavy, reminiscent of a good Baja vacation. Eating fresh whole fish and raw oysters with your toes in the sand. We ordered the Piña Rellena, Langostinos and some empanadas camarones. Everything was delicious. The Langostinos have a garlicky, citrus marinade, the empanadas have whole shrimp inside with a crispy dough and piña Rellena was overflowing with abalone, shrimp, oysters and crab, sautéed with pineapple meat and a sweet and smoky sauce. Think Mexican style sweet and sour. The service was friendly and the bathrooms were squeaky clean. This is a fantastic spot and I can’t wait to visit again! Only con is that there was some imitation seafood tucked in there as well. Get rid of the fake stuff, I’d rather have less real seafood than a larger portion bulked with fake fish.

In the ghetto. Kind of obscure location. Inside is loud and cluttered with tables with a distinctly Mexican vibe. It was so cluttered that it was hard to even get to our chairs at the table. The service was a little rough. I don’t think they had enough servers. The servers they had were also bussing the tables, which made them so busy that it was hard to get their attention when needed. With that being said, the food was delicious. I had the molcajete, which was full of seafood… shrimp, crab, octopus and so much more. It came in a molcajete(stone morter) that was heated up and kept my food hot through the whole meal. The sauce was outstanding! I kept digging in for more! Cost: $ 22ish My wife had the piña rellena. Seafood cooked in half an emptied out pineapple. She enjoyed it a lot. The sweetness of the pineapple added a nice nuance to the sauce that the endless seafood portion was cooked in. Very tasty! Cost: $ 18ish And the mega michelada! Very good. Huge glass with an upside down 32 oz Corona Familiar, shrimp, cucumber, and celery. Again… delicious! And huge! Cost: $ 13ish Kind of a spendy meal, but not outrageous. It was a good overall experience. Would definitely recommend you give it a try.

Good spot. They give you a small portion of ceviche to start you off. The husband had their Asada Plate; it was delicious, meat was tender and flavorful. I ordered their Special Fajitas(ordered them extra spicy), they were great as well. Plenty to share for two people and they are not stingy with their meats at all. CON: we had a hard time eating with the tortillas they provided. They are microwaved meaning they get cold fast or are under cooked. That’s the only thing I wished they changed. I ended up eating my dish with tostadas, no biggy.

The main contributing factor as to why I bookmarked this place was that they give you a free bowl of ceviche. It came with tostada shells and Saltine crackers. We quickly demolished it while we waited for our food. There are a lot of seafood dishes. I had the shrimp with cream sauce. It is served with rice, salad, and beans. It also came with tortillas. It was a big portion of food. I didn’t care much for the rice, but I liked the shrimp a lot. When it comes to seafood, most places skimp. Not this place though! There are 7 variations of the shrimp dish. I’m sure I’ll be back to try another one of them!
