When in here for the first time and tryed they’re birria de chivo, it’s really good and with they’re hand made corn tortillas even better! The only bad part was they’re horchada tasted bad like if it was old or something. Other then that everything was fine.

The help was wonderful! So proud of there dishes. They use salmon in the fish taco. A pleasant surprise for sure. The shrimp dish had a wonderful red sauce. Yet the shrimp was overcooked. Average beans an rise. Nice little place over all. Almost gave it 4 stars. but nothing really stood out to tip the scale.

I am writing this review based on today’s selection. This is my first time visiting this little dive within walking distance from my home. We were instantly greeted by the owner who was very warm, inviting and held a certain pride in regards to his cuisine. We appreciated his enthusiasm! I ordered a crispy chicken taco and a fish taco with tarter on the side. The crispy shell was a perfect compliment to the scantily dressed taco. The chicken was mildly seasoned, perfectly shredded but almost absent! The shredded lettuce was kind of a nuisance as it was acting like a garnish in addition to the shredded cheese… I mean if it was not supposed to have lettuce and cheese leave it off… don’t be a tease! Fortunately the salsa was plenty and made the perfect condiment. I was pleasantly greeted by a grilled Salmon fillet upon double layered soft corn tortillas. This taco presented as you would expect a 2.99 grilled fish taco. The only downside to this shining star was the store bought, sweet tarter sauce. Why oh god why would you crown a Queen with a fake jewel tiara? If you are going to go to the trouble of offering a beautiful flake salmon fillet– go the extra mile and prepare a 2 minute Fresh sauce! I appreciate small business owners and look forward to joining other patrons with their hefty star ratings.

This place took over from the old La Altena on Florin and 24th street. Ordered the Carnitas nachos and two carnitas Mexico city tacos. The carnitas were just OK. Canned cheese sauce, guacamole, chopped onion, and beans. As a personal preference, I like to have the carnitas with more spices and herbs and fried after they cook them in the vat of lard. The tacos came out with a crispy shell, not Mexico City style. Prices were reasonable and the service was prompt.

My fiancée and I used to come here more often when they were in the land park Area. Since they moved not as much. The owners are very kind. We love to get the breakfast burritos. Their salsas are tasty too.

This place is so good! It’s honestly the best Mexican food I’ve had in Sacramento and I’ve lived here my whole life. The tacos are super tasty but my favorite is the carne con chile. I also like the spicy shrimp dish… I forget the name. I’m surprised there aren’t more people here. The area is pretty sketch but the food is worth it. The place itself is really clean and they make your food super fast. If you order aguas frescas they give it to you in a huge mug and they are really fresh. Life hack: If you order the food for there rather than to go you get free chips and salsa :) Comparing some of my other go-to restaurants: Azul: 3 stars Fiesta on Alhambra: 4 stars Zocalo: 4 stars

The baja tacos were amazing and the price per taco at $ 1.50 is even more awesome! Great Tapa place! They have burgers here which I found weird in a Mexican café but I suppose families with kids need to feed the picky ones.(I would have given it a 5 star, if not for the fact they didn’t give us chips with the tacos. Most places give complimentary chips but over here, you pay 99 cents. Bummer.) It is a gem located in a small shopping area(24th and Florin) and across from Walgreens. I like the place. It’s CLEAN! The menu is simple and easy to read. The cook(owner?) is very friendly and so are the staff. They close at 9 p.m. and sometimes they will start cleaning early, if the place is empty. Overall, a great place for good tacos and friendly service! Plus… it’s CLEAN! Sooooo nice to see people care about keeping a clean restaurant where food is served.

Man im havin mixed feelings bout this place! Ive been here twice the first time i was blown out the water on how good the food was that i had ordered. I had ordered 7 mares«7 seas» for u non Spanish speaking motha fukas ;) i added a smiley face to soften up the blow. That time i would have to rate it a 4 because the food was good but there wasnt 7! types of sea food in it only had crab and shrimp but the flavor was so good that i would say is worthy of 4 stars. Today i went and got birria de chivo«goat stew» thats pretty much what it is. That shit was not good at all i’ll give it 1 star. It was nothing authentic about it it had a center full of tomato sauce like for real tomato sauce in birria? Df outta here! So over all im sticking to giving this place 2 stars i was embarrassed how non authentic the birria was.

Delicious birria! The birria is spicy, which was perfect for me and excellent for hangovers. The service was fast and good. The only reason is not getting five stars is because of the LOUD obnoxious music they play, next time I’ll just get take out.

A decent place for scrumptious, but somewhat falsely advertised Mexican cuisine. Food: I saw the 99 cent taco sign on the street and knew I had to pay a visit. I ended up paying far more than a buck since the deal applies only to a pretty vanilla lineup of street tacos. Ultimately, the meal was no longer double take cheap and ended up costing me about $ 10. Not unreasonable, but certainly not the deal that lured me in. I had a hankering for something crispy, so I ordered a combo containing three hard chicken tacos( ). All in all, the tacos did not disappoint. The meat was well seasoned, the shell perfectly fried, and the light sprinkle of cheese sufficient to make the meal seem a little classy. I also ordered two tamales, one pork and one chicken( ). Honestly, this was not a good deal. Even though they’re dirt cheap, you basically just get a half sized tamale. I guess you get what you pay for… One minor upshot: the salsa is unlimited and they have lots( ). Atmosphere: This place could use a makeover. It seems like it was recently renovated, but I think the honeymoon period might have already ended. Things are a bit dingy. Service: The ladies here will treat you right. Synopsis: I would come back, but only for the discount street tacos.

It’s taco Tuesday! This little restaurant is off the grid(so to speak) yet they make delicious Baja Style tacos. The taco Tuesday deal is pretty good. You can get pork or chicken tacos for $ 1 a piece, and I decided to try 3 of the chicken tacos. They were extremely fresh and the chicken was nicely seasoned with chile and cumin(which I love), fresh chopped cilantro, onion, and garnished with sliced radishes. I ordered my tacos with extra fresh lime on the side since I love the Mexican tradition of squeezing fresh lime juice on chicken or fish tacos. An added bonus to Birria & Mariscos is the awesome fresh salsa bar. There are several types of salsa to choose from ranging from mild to spicy, red, brown, and green(tomatillo) stye. The ambiance of this restaurant is decorated in a clean simple southwest style. I love the fact that this restaurant is super clean and the noise level us quite low. Additionally, the tacos are cheap and the beer is very cold. I believe that Birria would be a great place to stop for a quick yet satisfying Mexican style meal with the option to eat in the restaurant or as take out.

I’ve been here a few times and I was pleased with the food. The tamales where soft and fresh. The tacos are small street tacos; but for 99cents you can’t complain. They have a nice selection of meat choices. The rice and beans here taste fresh. This is another nice spot to stop by when you’re on florin.

I love Mexican food. So this place was on high standards. We walked in and instantly had our order taken. Two kids meals and two super burritos later we are full and satisfied. Only thing i can say they need is limes so i can squeeze on my burrito lol

Wayne K. basically covered it. La Barca is a good, inexpensive casual Mexican spot where Taqueria La Altena used to be. They have a lot of burrito and taco options(including crispy tacos with housemade shells), and they serve breakfast platters and breakfast burritos. Solid food and friendly service. Not the kind of thing you make a long drive for, but certainly an attractive option if you live near by or are passing through. I have yet to to try the birria or the mariscos… since they put those foods in their name(unlike burritos) I have high hopes for those dishes.

La Victoria Cocina Mexicana moved and reopened under La Barca Birria & Marisco. It has the same basic menu as La Victoria. La Barca has better exposure on Florin Rd and should do much better than when inside of the South Land Park IGA. We like the tacos, burritos, and combo plates. Food is prepared to order and is fresh and delish. Service is friendly and prompt. Give it a try when in the area and you’ll be happy with value and quality.
