Total dive bar. In the best way! If you like dive bars you know what I mean. Come on in, the water’s fine.

Joseph was the bartender and he worked up a good drink for me. After a long day of work I wanted to unwind so I stumble upon this dive bar. Two pool tables and a back patio to get some air. Overall a chill welcoming environment, definitely come back when I’m in the area. I

First time here… very divey, but me likey! Saw a special on the wall for Angry Orchard + shot of Fireball for $ 5.50 and I thought«hell yeah» — and then I saw the very generous pretty much double Fireball shot and thought«effen hell yeah»! Seriously? A double Fireball alone at most places would be the price of this special. It was like getting the Angry Orchard for free! AA + Fireball is a great combination too — like apple pie or apple jacks.

This is a marvelous little dive in an obscure strip of small businesses and barbershops. The outside seems intimidating and seedy, but the inside is a dimly but colorfully lit and intimate atmosphere with sweet oldies music and a truly friendly bartender. We were welcomed with smiles and reassured about the wi-fi. They didn’t bat an eyelash at our rearrangement of the tables for a seat close to the small line of TVs in an effort to see the Seahawks/ATL game. The clientele are of the middle-aged variety, all friendly without being overly chatty. The bartender brought our drinks right to the table. I have a feeling we’ll be stopping here regularly for a relaxing Sunday afternoon and a couple of drinks. Don’t be offput by the outside– this place is a not fancy but it’s definitely a cute and enjoyable stop!

If you know the patrons and the employees there it’s a great place to hang out and have a drink. Yes there will be fights and arguments but you get that with any bar you go to. And to the gentleman that commented about the shooting. That was after-hours. If there was a shooting at your local grocery store that you go to are you going to quit going there. If there was a shooting down your street is it going to keep you from going home… NO, Don’t you know the saying don’t judge a book by it’s cover. Don’t judge an establishment on Unilocal that you have not been to or even a regular at.

Don’t be intimidated by the scary looking dudes at the bar. Once you get past the scare factor this is one of the greatest bars in town. Sure, there are no beady-eyed leprechauns, but there are glassy-eyed cougars. The bar tenders are quick to pour and loaded with kitchy bar tricks.(Ever seen a phone book ripped in half?) Be prepared to leave with a stranger. Not that I did, of course.

Great spot for cheap drinking and great people watching. PBR10-ouncer for $ 1.50, frozen Cuervo Silver for $ 3.50. I grew up in this neighborhood and the Idle Hour neon was always a beacon on Fruitridge. Good enough for my grandpa, good enough for me.

Went to Idle Hour when I was trying to find a bar close to my south Tahoe Park home, instead of going downtown. A friend and I had the best time. We joked around with the bartender and other patrons for hours. After living in San Francisco for the last five years I am use to stuck up bartenders that just cared about their tips to find a bartender that loved to entertain and make you feel welcomed. Not really a date place or a pick up bar, but great to get a drink if you want to just meet some strangers. Not the kinda bar where you can sit back in a corner alone.

Lots of folks I know are afraid to go into the Idle Hour. You ain’t gosta be scared! Regular day-drinkers fill the barstools and they know if you’re a newbie. They are harmless though and they’ll quickly be buying you rounds as you settle in with some cheap drinks, awesome bartenders and one of the best-stocked and last-standing cd jukeboxes in town. It ain’t fancy, but if you’re in the neighborhood, you won’t regret a trip to the IH.

I had an hour to kill from 5:30 to 6:30pm and Idle Hour was in the right spot. I found it on Unilocal and liked the description from trusted critic, Crafty Mo(aka Chris B.). I have to give it five stars for sheer entertainment value and free booze. Sometimes you walk into an unfamiliar locals bar and get nothing but stern looks. At Idle Hour, you’d think they never had a new guy before. The entire bar treated me like a celebrity. When I told them I found them on the Internet, the bartender insisted I join him for a shot of their finest tequila. He summoned the owner who shook my hand and gave me a token for my next beer. The bartender then proudly informed me that they perform«bar tricks», which I enthusiastically welcomed. He hurried away and returned minutes later with a phone book that he somehow ripped in half! I thought his head was going to explode before he was going to be able to rip the phone book. Other tricks were performed by tender and patrons alike. During one the tender managed to spill my beer on my real estate documents. more free beer… Fun was had by all and I will definitely be back. PS, I understand the crowd changes by night from local older folks to younger wild folks and pole dancing is not uncommon. It’s a win-win!

Your typical neighborhood dive bar. Filled with lots of colorful locals who like to chat you up. I guess this place has a reputation for being pretty rough and tumble, but I never had a problem when coming here. Worth checking out if you’re in the area.

My neighborhood bar! I don’t go here to impress anyone! I go here to have a beer and relax. Unlike those trendy midtown dive bars, you won’t have to wait 7 years for the bartender to notice you.

More pool balls than teeth in this establishment. Clients are okay, good for comedic relief at the minimum. $ 2.50 drink specials daily which are cool.

I was there with WendySue and the Dive Bar crew too! This place is pretty spacious and could easily accommodate our group of 20+ folks, especially on a rainy Thursday night when there wasn’t much competition. Décor appropriately divey, bathrooms appropriately grungey, drinks appropriately inexpensive! $ 2.50 for a large draft beer(a decent mug)… $ 1.50 for a small(didn’t order that one to find out how small). Parking is somewhat limited, but that shouldn’t deter. Small enough dive to feel like you own the place, large enough to drag along thirsty lemmings(I mean, friends who want to drink).
