I love this place. Atmosphere is cool and its located in the up and growing North Oak Park. The concept of the restaurant is to cook your own steak! As crazy as that might sound to you, it’s actually really cool. They have a commercial grill in the center of the restaurant and you can have it exactly you way. If you’ve never worked a commercial grill before or have no experience cooking whatsoever, I’d still recommend giving it a shot. Staff is really helpful and nice and you can always ask questions. On weekends or Friday nights, I believe they have live music which is always fun. If you’re looking to experience something new or wanna have a fun date night. Check it Out! Prices are not bad for a steakhouse and the quality of the meat is pretty good. Also, no corkage fee :) with a full bar as well. It’s a fun place, and I will come back often.

Great drinks and good food! Service is good. Stephanie is an excellent bartender! Knows her drinks and is very personable. Food is very good but you need to cook it yourself. Not a bad thing but takes some previous practice. Feel is an upscale dive bar. Fun and fairly relaxed. Recommended!

Fantastic place, it may look like a hole in the wall from the outside but go inside and it’s a whole new story. The atmosphere was very nice, the décor was awesome, almost had a very old school mob feel to it, like you would see in the movies. Staff was friendly, food came out quick and it was so much fun being able to cook it ourselves. Prices are very reasonable. No live music but we came on a thursday night so it was probably a lot calmer then on weekends.

This place might not be for everyone, but it’s a lot of fun! And no it is not a strip club, make sure u bring cash and if you order a steak your gonna have to grill it yourself. The early bird special is a good deal!

The whole experience of cooking my own food was better than expected. The only reason I went here is because everything else in walking distance was closed or not serving food but it totally blew my expectations out of the water. It’s a little pricey for what you get(amount of food, and the fact that you have to cook it) but it was a gun experience. I wanna go somewhere similar at some point, I probably won’t go back here because of the price though. It’s just not worth what you get.

I loved the ambiance, the live music, and the drinks. However, $ 12 for two portobello mushrooms that you have to cook yourself? Seems pretty ridiculous. I like to go out to eat because I want a meal from a trained chef. This place robs you of that. Not only do you spend lots of money, but you also have to do all the labor, and you end up with a mediocre meal. On top of that it is cash only! I gotta congratulate the owner on coming up with a lot of ways to save money. Eating here is more of a novelty experience if anything. However it is a good place if you are meeting your date for some fancy drinks.

I really want to give this place a 5 star. One word come to mind with this place, SWANKY! It is super cool, retro fun that you just can’t find many places. It has a 70 mod décor that is FAROUT :) It even has an old cigarette machine that looks like it is from the 50s, really cool. The food is relatively cheap but their beverages are a little spendy. Overall, great value. The drinks you will spend 10 bucks for a mixed but it will be done to perfection. Some of the best bar drinks in Sac. Come early when the grill is empty. Cook your steaks a little longer cuz the grill is not like the one at your house. I would say about 4 — 5 minutes on each side for medium rare for their larger cuts. No veggies :(Salad is awesome. Bread is good. Wish they had more selection but I guess that goes with the nostalgia. CASHONLY! Free ATM inside.

Love this place! Great atmosphere, good drinks, terrific happy hour — and as long as you can handle grilling your own food it’s an excellent place to eat!

Ate here for the first time last night, and had a wonderful experience. Cocktail program is on point, both our steaks were of excellent quality, and though not a new concept, cooking them ourselves was a blast on the super nice grill. Décor was fun and music was perfect. Looking forward to going back! ps. Apparently we ordered their first ever served brownie dessert. It was very good and ended the meal on an appropriately high note.

Omg this place has much potential, but my experience with them was average. I loved the ambience and the concept. It does have that super dark interior and speak easy feel to the space that can take you back in time. The cook your own meat concept is not new to me. We Koreans have been doing that forever. This place has a community grill where you stand around and cook your dead animal. Now let me tell you a huge flaw to their design and potential danger to the patrons. The overhead hood that sucks up the smoky air has sharp corners and edges. I was wearing heels which made me like maybe 5’7 or 5’8 for the night. Well that happened to be the perfect height where my head kept hitting the the sharp edge of the hood multiple times while I was trying to Keep an eye on my filet and scallops! Extremely painful and lucky that I did not get seriously injured! Omg, they need to fix the hood or put up a sign or something warning ppl! And the grill itself was not a good surface to cook the scallops. You had to carefully watch your scallops to make sure it didn’t fall thru the grill. So warning: watch your scalp and scallops closely! In the end, I didn’t end my seasoning my meat right… Everything tasted bland and meat was cold in the center :(maybe they can improve the experience by giving patrons some pointers and suggestions for time to cook the meat and how to season it as well. Dinner was a bit pricey and drinks are also on the pricey side.

CASHONLY! They offer a free ATM in the back however I’m sure banks charge so it’s best to come with CASH! This is a nice little place to hang out with inexpensive and very good drinks. They have an open grill. You can order your food and cook it yourself. I, myself like to go out and have my food already prepared for me but I love this concept after smelling the steak that was cooking by other customers that night. I will be coming back for the food! We went later one night for some drinks. There were 10 of us and the bill was under $ 90 which I find pretty darn good. With the low lighting, intriguing wallpaper, piano, jukebox, eye catching bar and unique pictures on the walls, this place is worth checking out.

The atmosphere is great and the service is good. It was fun grilling our own steak and vegetables. We got the early bird petite sirloin special. The cut was of good quality. There are a bunch of sauces and rubs you can put on your piece of meat, but the beef is pretty delicious with minimal seasoning. Would definitely recommend.

Drinks Grilled To Perfection! :D SITREP Did I say that right? Oh! Wait! Wait! What I MEANT to say was«Refreshing Drinks and Steaks Grilled to Perfection!» «To perfection, really?», you may ask? Why YES, because you get to do it yourself(or get a great steak-griller ringer like our buddy Erika K. to do it for us!) We came to celebrate our lovely friend Bambi’s birthday Arthur Henry’s Supper Club & Ruby Room(aka Arthur’s) was an AMAZING background for this wondrous affair! THESETUP&THEBAR Arthur’s is like stepping back into the past on the Old Strip hood in Las Vegas. The bar setup definitely has that Old School Speakeasy vibe: THEDRINKS They serve up some of the most tasty beverages. As soon as I stepped in to the lovely joint right after it opened at 5pm, the lovely bartendress A.J. set me up with an amazing $ 10 «Classic Sazerec»! Their Sazerec is made with some great Bulleit Rye Whiskey & Bitters, in a glass rinsed with Absinthe. *YUM* THEDECOR After my eyes, I could see that the walls had some pretty amazing, sexy art: And the wall paper was pretty smashing next to our classic booth set-up: THEJUKEBOX! Talk about a «Jack-Of-All-(Musical)-Trades»! This jukebox has a comprehensive repertoire of music, including classic anthems from the 40s to the 60s, to the hits from the 70s up through the 90s! And it’s FREE! You just make your selections and next thing you know you’re listening to Edgar Winter’s «FRANKENSTEIN»! But the awesomeness doesn’t stop here… LIVEMUSIC …there is also a small stage where live music acts are part of the line-up on Fridays. Or you can just listen to the lovely operatic & baroque vocal talents of Erika K. whenever she is present! :D SELF-GRILLIN! What makes Arthur’s truly unique from other spots that call themselves«Steak Houses» is that you get to do your own grilling! * Do other places always overcook your steak? * Does your steak come out bland and without flavor? * Do you miss the opportunity to scald your fingers in some searing heat?!? Well NOMORE! At Arthur’s you get to play directly with ~searing heat~ while grilling yer steak(and garlic bread!) to perfection! [PSA: Adults acting like kids need to be accompanied by responsible adults. *guilty*] ;) And wa-la! What beauties we grilled up!(Or I should honestly say, that«mostly Erika K. grilled up!] EARLYDINNERSPECIAL Along with my regularly-priced $ 10 Petit Sirloin steak, we got a tasty salad and garlic bread. And by this time since I had already finished my Classic Sazerec, the Early Dinner Special(before 6PM — we got there by 5:30PM) included for just $ 1 more a pint of their ale on tap, certainly averaging out my total drink costs($ 10 Sazerec & $ 1 Ale) for a total *WIN!* PRO-TIP: Arthur’s is CASH-ONLY, but they have their own ATM machine with NOFEE set-up right up at the end of the bar under the ship: THELOWDOWN Arthur’s is a fantastic stop for some classic drinks, delicious grilled steaks and shenanigans with friends!

What an incredible find! We looked for bars nearby to our airbnb and so glad we found this place. The drinks were the best that we probably have ever had. AJ(our bartender) was so fun. She suggested drinks that we might like and she was absolutely right! The Penicillin was my husband’s favorite. And she made me one with Hendricks and sage. Crazy creative and tasty. We love handcrafted drinks like that. The atmosphere was dark, inviting, and comfortable and the best part was AJ. Wish we lived closer!

Came here awhile back and thank goodness my boyfriend at the time loves to cook because I was clueless! We ordered our filet mignon and porterhouse steaks and they came out wrapped in butcher paper along with our two skewers of veggies and mushrooms, garlic bread and salads. As we made our way to the central grilling station, we found seasonings hidden on the side. Make sure you don’t miss the seasonings! It’s pretty dark in there. I let the(now ex) bf do all the work while I stood there watching and then we went back to our seats to enjoy our drinks and salads while the steaks cooked nicely on the grill! As for drinks, he ordered the basil cucumber gimlet and I opted for the lavender lemon drop martini. Both were delicious and refreshing! Our server had recommended them to us and they were great picks! Overall, it was a very unique experience that I would probably try again with my future SO. =)

When you first walk into Arthur Henry’s, you automatically feel like you’re part of a dinner scene in Mad Men. From the décor, the lighting, and classic(non-operative) cigarette vending machine, this place will automatically make you feel cool. So cool, that you have to cook your own steak. As many of the fellow Unilocalers have mentioned, the unique thing about this place is that you grill your own food at the communal grill. Steak didn’t turn out right? That’s your fault! Garlic bread got burnt? That’s your fault! Too much seasoning? That’s your fault! Must be awesome being a server or «cook» here since no one can really complain about how the food turns out! Our server was very nice and she immediately asked us if we were dining here for the first time. When we told her it was our first time, she was very generous with her time and gave us plenty of suggestions. By the time she was done giving suggestions, we knew what we wanted to order. As for the food, the food was as expected. Nothing awesome where I would want to come back ASAP but my family had a good experience here. I ordered the filet and it came with a salad and garlic bread. My wife ordered the NY Strip that also came with a salad and garlic bread and there were no complaints. It’s kind of neat to control your steak’s destiny. I suggest trying the house hot steak sauce. It added the perfect amount of flavor to my steak. The garlic bread was delicious and the salad came in a deceivingly good portion. I thought the salad was small at first but it was actually the perfect size before I ate the steak. I didn’t order any alcohol but people in our party had a Minty Cricket and a Mojito De Fruta. The cocktails came very fast and according to them, they were pretty strong and they were satisfied. Overall, it was a good experience and a very nice relaxed vibe. One tip, if you like your steak on the rarer side of things, it may be hard to see how cooked your steak is under the grill because it is dark and the lights have a reddish tint to it so all the steaks look reddish if you don’t pay close attention. The last thing you want is an overcooked steak that will end up costing you another piece of meat. Great place for a group of friends who like to drink, eat meat, jam to music on the free jukebox, and pretend they’re trying to create an advertising campaign for tobacco in the 1960’s!

Now that’s a steak dinner! You choose your steak, you walk over to the communal grill in the center, and you get to pretend you’re Bobby Flay. An assortment of sauces and seasonings line the wall, so you can flavor your meat to your liking. I had the filet and my fiancé had the porterhouse. Damn… that’s a lotta meat. We also had a side of vegetable skewers to for just a bit of veggies to our meal. One skewer is definitely enough for two. If you like blue cheese, please order that with your salad. Mmmmm… that’s nice and strong! And grill your garlic bread. I should have asked for extra of that yummy carb goodness. The cocktails are great. Wine selection great. Hello red and gold décor! Very cool and elegant. Parking is street, but you’ll need a walk after that meal!

Have you heard about the early bird special though? 5:00 pm-7:00 pm: Beer, Steak, Salad, and bread for just $ 11!!! Such a GREAT deal! Location: Oak Parkish? Don’t let the location sway you from coming to this establishment. I’m pretty sure they’re working on the area. They’ve got this restaurant and Old Soul luring customers to this area and its a great place for those who live close by. If you can’t find a parking spot in the lot then you can opt for the plenty of street parking. Inside you’ll find a large bar, large comfy booths, a communal grill in the middle, all under dim lighting. The Communal Grill: There are thongs to flip your steak, spices to season it with, and different sauces. I wish they provided the regular, good ol’ worchestshire sauce though. That would have been nice. The food: There are plenty of protein options and cuts of steak to choose from. However, I was disappointed in their lack of appetizers. The salad and the bread are the only staple items on the menu. It would have been nice to have some fries, mac and cheese, or some mashed potatoes. It doesn’t seem like the kitchen does anything but make a salad. Even the bread you have to cook on the grill! It comes out cold! For a place you have to grill your own steak, the regular menu is pretty pricey! For that price, I’d rather have a grill master do the work while I chill out and eat tasty appetizers. Also: CASHONLY! There is an ATM inside. Cool place to try with friends(if you haven’t already) or on a date.

Hey! If you don’t like the way your steaks are cooked elsewhere, go here! The only person you have to blame is, «You!» Personally, this has happened to us when we’ve dined at some finer steakhouses in Sacramento. Arthur Henry’s leaves no room for disappointment. I cooked it, and I had no complaints. Damn, I’m a good grill master! From the outside, Arthur Henry’s is a little run down, but once inside, it feels as if you are in another era. Sure, hubby complained the whole way, I was driving, and if you use the map that’s provided by Unilocal,it looks as if there’s a 2nd Ave exit. Well, hubs said there isn’t and I said there is! Boy, was I wrong! So, we were a bit lost, took a scenic route of the neighborhood. So the homebody won, there is no 2nd Ave exit! At least he got out of the house! He complained about how uncertain he was by looking at the exterior, but once inside, he shut his mouth! He felt as if he was in those lounge/restaurants in a mafia movie. Upon entering the red door, you walk into this swanky, dark, hipster bar area with a restaurant immediately adjacent to it. With comfy cozy booths all around and a communal grill in the center of the dining area, it really sets off a level of comfort. We were immediately greeted and seated by a friendly hostess. We were told that our server would be with us shortly and«Harmony» greeted us. She was dressed in black like all the other employees with a cool«sleeve.» She went over the details thoroughly and effortlessly! We informed her that we had a Groupon and she was ever so cool about it. Now I’m saying this because I love Groupons and there are some businesses who give you the«brush off,» because you have a Groupon. Not here! Matter of fact, most of the diners had a Groupon, The fact about Groupon is, they introduce you to places like Arthur Henry’s, hidden gems, which we may have never known. With that said, Groupon via Unilocal!Yeah, some of my Unilocal friends dined here and loved it as well. We placed our order and immediately received our cuts of meat. Hubby ordered the filet mignon and I ordered the ribeye with a garlic teriyaki marinade. Be forewarned, you are the cook, they bring your choice wrapped in parchment paper. Harmony went over in fine detail the instructions and tips about getting your perfect steak. They offer different assortments in seasonings and sauces for you to use. My ribeye didn’t need any since it was already marinated. Hubby put a wide assortments of seasoning and sauce on his. He would have liked his steak better if there was A-1 sauce. What d’ya do? You can’t please everyone, ha! I loved my ribeye, perfectly seasoned with no care for any other sauce or seasoning, and I didn’t have to send it back! It was extremely tender with little fat, I think most of the fat was burned off! We loved the ambience with music constantly playing from the free jukebox. I played several songs and would’ve loved to just hang out here after dinner. On the night we dined, there was a pretty live crowd dining in the bar area, which made it quite entertaining. We loved this place so much, we’ll be back! Insider’s note: Cash only ATM available with no fees 21 and over only No A-1 steak sauce!
