I go here all the time to get their lunch combos and I have to say, it is delicious. I normally get the lemon chicken with 2 crab cheese wontons(the best I’ve ever had) and the fried rice and chicken chow mein. Although their seating area isn’t much and the place is in a somewhat crappy location, the food makes up for it.

First time ordering from Happy Takeout, and will most definitely be my last. Today my co-workers and I decided to try this place. We went on line printed the menu and 9 people placed an order. Online it stated $ 5.00 lunch combos and you can pick pork fried rice or chicken chow main. After ordering it we are told that they are $ 6.95 a combo and and that they don’t put meat in the rice or chow main. I said that is not what your web site says. He said we don’t do that in a long time, and in a rude tone he said no we are not doing that. We ordered the food and paid the money even after they were 25 minutes late delivering our food. The food was very bland. I ordered sweet and sour pork and it was disgusting. The meat tasted old and tuff so I threw it away. The rice and the chow main was bland. The guy that dropped our food off was not nice. You can’t post one price on your web page and charge a different price when people call. CHANGEYOURONLINEMENUBEFOREYOUGETSUEDFORFALSEADVERTISEMENT.

The food here is great. I’ve been spending the last month coming here almost once a day going ordering through the menu trying to find something I didn’t like. And I can’t do it. Everything has been great. Each meal is cookedto order, which is a rarity with Chinese takeout. Everything is hot, freshly made and delicious. Generous portions at a very fair price.

The Chinese food is damn amazing for the price. Is it the best Chinese food ever? No. Is it cheap and delicious, well worth the price? YES! Their menu is extensive, as is most Chinese food places, and a little slow, but I’m okay with that. My food is always fresh and doesn’t taste like it came from a heat lamp like Panda Express. The dining area is very small and not much of a place to eat, but if you READ the name of the place, it says TAKEOUT. Duh. Great food, really tasty, good spicy flavor, and really fresh. Totally worth the money for the combo meals, definitely recommend it for some cheap Chinese food that gives you a ton.

You have got to try the salt and pepper spare ribs!!! Also try the Peking spareribs. Only when they are just made the meat/batter is still crunchy under the sauce. You have no idea how amazing it taste taste and texture wise. Like I said the Peking spare ribs will only be crunchy if you eat it soon. Sometimes it’ll still be crunchy later on. But I’ve been serious addicted to both this past week. Even my 2 year old daughter like the salt and pepper spare ribs but I ask for them to put the pepper on the side. Also: They have been happily to do small things for me like leaving things out on the side in a box. And taking my orders 5 minutes to closing Yes I’m gonna get some tomo. My birthday is this weekend so might go out and eat lol I want to try other food but I can’t not order those spare ribs

I love happy takeout! The food always seems like it was made fresh when you ordered. I always call ahead and the food is ready within 10 – 15 minutes. I get the veggie chow mien and it is the best in the area. The portions are enough for left overs and it is a fair price.

I was excited that a chinese food joint was almost down the street from me… so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the general chicken combo. I did not like it at all. Everything tasted weird. The chowmein was really dry the fried rice had no flavor and the general chicken sauce was too thick and was more like orange chicken. I literally almost threw up. I’ll stick to chans restaurant on stockton blvd. Their food is 100% way better.

Really, really good, especially for cheap delivery, but even other than that this is the best Chinese food I’ve had in Sacramento. Everything was fresh, had good flavor, and delivery was very quick as well. Don’t forget to order rice if you want it though! The entrees that I ordered all did not come with rice, and I kind of half expected rice to automatically come with them, but threw some on right after I ordered just in case(since I only half expected, so 50⁄50 odds = gonna make some rice!). By the way, the food arrived before my rice was done, that’s how quick the delivery was :)

This place is awesome. This is my first review and they were closing down but opened it up just to serve me. Great food.

Tried the general chicken combo & salt and pepper shrimp combo. The food was hot and flavorful, fried rice was delicious! Big portions as well. Can’t wait to try another combo entrée soon!

I’ve been here so many times for lunch because it’s close by my work. This is their lunch combo and i got fried rice/chowmein, chicken string bean and an eggroll. The dinner comes with all and a crab cheese wonton. And btw their wontons taste sooo good. I also tried their orange chicken and omg this is honestly the best chinese food. They make orders fresh too

Call ahead. The food is so freaking good but the one time I just walked in rather than called ahead my order, my husband and I waited for almost 45 minutes for two dinner meals. It could have been bad timing but they did their best to make it up to us. About the food– I love their won tons and their veggie rolls are always crispy and never soggy. The chow mein is yum! Will definitely be back. Plus they’ll deliver!

I am updating my original review after having spoken with the owner and he assured me he would convey my concerns with his staff, which apparently he has because the quality of the food has improved and portion sizes are equally improved. Seems like a man who cares about his business and his customers. I have ordered there 6 times since and each order is equally delicious, fresh, and worth every dollar spent. In this day and age of large corporate giants ruling the takeout market and everything tastes generic and processed, I would highly recommend giving them a try if you haven’t already.

A place that serves affordable, tasty, and authentic Chinese deserves 5 stars imo. We came in just as lunch ended which meant we could no longer order their lunch combo. For $ 2 more, we ordered a dinner combo which included a generous amount of: fried rice, chow mein, your choice entrée, a spring roll, and a cream cheese wonton. The portions were pretty huge and was enough for two people to share. The customer service is comparable to typical, ordinary, Chinese restaurants. I think what made it spectacular to us was them allowing us to change our entrée last minute. I know that could be a pain for some people but they did it without hesitation so, thank you :) Despite its location, the food is delicious and totally makes up for it ! I’d be a regular if it weren’t so far :)

Very slow service. Was sitting in the place for over 30 minutes waiting for two simple dinners. Ridiculous for the price you pay of almost 20 dollars and having everyone else get served before you. However the food is pretty good, which is the plus of the place. They did offer a free drink to me and my girlfriend for the long wait so that was courteous of them. Would recommend if the wait wasn’t so long. You can call in ahead but we tried three times and didn’t get anyone to answer which is why we went inside directly. Recommend calling ahead to get your order placed in advance.

Bland Chinese food is alright with me. There’s more than enough soy sauce and salt they normally put in their food so the bland is not the issue. Although I wish they would increase their delivery days to weekends. More cars, more money!

After a month of consistency, it seems my gripe about lesser portions was misplaced. Rock on.

Honestly it’s is delicious asian food at a great price. Fast and easy and fresh I see them make it. I come here all the time. The place inside needs to be more cozy but I guess it’s to not attract unwanted guests. Great place for food though.

Cheap and DELICIOUS Chinese food! Seriously better than Panda Express, Raleys, Safeway, and all of those other to-go Chinese restaurants you might frequent. They offer all the popular dishes, my favorites being their chow mein, sweet and sour pork, broccoli beef, and wonton soup. Portions are HUGE and there is NEVER a long wait for your food. A small mom and pop shop, the owners are very sweet and always fill your to-go boxes to the brim! Literally, until they can barely close the box! This place has yet to disappoint as I always leave super full!
