Flowers Fish Market & Restaurant

Uggh. Called in first, cool they are open cause my favorite hidden cove was not open on 23^rd Ave damn !!! «…First time caller for flowers, lady picked up…“FLOWERS». Hell I had to say hello again because i wasn’t sure, but it was FLOWERS. Anyways I ordered dinner. It came out smelling soooo good. I should have known when the attitude you have reflects in the quality of food you serve to people it will never come out right. All i can say is hard dried fried fish and your wings no is not the bizz people at FLOWERS. I will not be back. Advice for the lady there… Get a sense of humor, and loose the attitude.

I called to order a take out order at 6 the lady answered the phone and said «We Bout To Close».My response was the take out menu states 8 o’clock She said but we closing early tonight and Hung up… I called back A man answered and said The lady called back… Very poor customer service professionalism and Business ethic I would never purchase a soda let alone a piece of fish from this place. My advice would be to hire professional employees and Wake up Happy!

I have nothing but love for flowers, but they need to step their professionalism WAYYY UP. I just wasted a bunch of gas, going there and they were closed by 7:30, when CLEARLY on line they say they close at 8. Word of advice, only go in the daytime and don’t believe their hours, smh. #thanksfornothin #ya’llowemesomegas

Great place for traditional fried fish and or chicken… Reminds me of small restaurants in Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana… Video games, TV, pretty wide menu for a place of its size. If you like fried fish, a friendly staff and nostalgic décor — This is the place for you!

Well cooked, not much salt or flavor, but I guess that’s why there’s salt, pepper, hot peppers, ketchup, and hot sauce were on the table in the dining room.

Docking a couple stars right now! Because I’m hangry= angry & hungry. It’s 6:35 PM and they don’t close till seven and I just tried to call in an order and I’m going to be there in 10 minutes and pay with cash and they told me they turn their fryer off at 6:30 PM! I’m hella mad! I’m super hungry and I want their prawns and no where else is the same! Mad!

The food is good but the inside could use some updating. Most of the employees are great with exception of a few. Overall when I’m looking to have some good soul food cooked the correct way, this is my go to.

If you like good olé skool fried cat fish, you know, the kind that’s lightly seasoned with a corn meal coating (not milk, flour, beer or whatever people use as a ‘batter’ nowadays), then this is the place!!! It reminds me of when I was a kid and my dad use to catch, scale, gut and fry the cat fish right there at the lake. Fresh and pipping hot! Don’t come for the ambiance because it’s just not there; however, the catfish is supreme. I haven’t had a desire to purchase anything else. I only come for the catfish. I’ve had Catfish from several of the other fish and soul food places. I have to say Flowers is the best!

This place has the worst service, very rude and not helpful at all. I tried to call in a BIG order (first time order) and had no ideal what was or would come with combo. When I asked and informed lady on phone that I need some help with order. She replied «this is the same place, come on and order. When I asked if I can have the 4 way the way I ordered, I was told no!!! We will tell u what u get. So orders r set. So at this point I when to JJs, got my order the way I asked and was given free cake. I spent 160.00 at JJs and will do it again. Stay away from this place!!!

My mom used to swear by this catfish when I was growing up. I haven’t been here in years and it was exactly the same as I remember it. The catfish was blazing hot and crispy with just enough spice, the staff is friendly and helpful. I don’t frequent south Sac often but this place is a treat when I do.

Eww… the fish here is not fresh, the service is terrible, overall dirty shop and right in the ghetto. I threw away the fish I bought and won’t be returning

I’ve been to Flowers’ several times for the red snapper, and I’m always impressed by how well the fish is prepared: light, golden, and not overcooked. I definitely prefer Flowers over JJ Fish… you don’t go to Flowers for the ambiance; it’s all about the fish.

A frist timer at Flowers. I’m from Chicago, have lived in Baltimore and New Jersey as well as the Netherlands and had incredible roasted fish in New Delhi. Today I had Flowers Red Snapper Sandwich with fries. That was the BEST FISH I’ve had in years!!! We dumped so much money on those road side «London Fish and Chips» spots in Nor Cal, even dumped money in the Big Sur for Fish and Chips. WOW, Flowers was an amazing and refreshing experience. The fish was IMMACULATE, and flavorful. Delicate bredding, decent bun, good tartar sauce. I read the other listing about fresh tartar sauce. They pulled their ketchup and tartar sauce (in closed single serve cups) right out of the fridge. Maybe that person did not like the flavor but to give this place that low rating overall? That is just wrong. I still have to try other stuff but I do highly recommend the Red Snapper Sandwich if it is available on the Lunch Special for your visit … Fries were home cut and not too bad.
The best fish I’ve had over many in Chicago including JJ Fish or other spots around my hometown city. A must try !

My first experience with Flower’s fish market will most likely be my last.
The fish was actually fairly good, hot crispy… unhealthy as all get-​out.
The real problem was this– the tartar sauce. I’m guessing they have some issues with refrigeration. I noticed the sauce was a bit off when I tasted it but figured that maybe it was just something wierd for the place.
What I got about two hours later was the most horrible case of food poisoning I’ve ever had in my life. I got to spend several hours in the bathroom contemplating my meal from Flower’s.
Hey, the food wasn’t bad– so if you want to take your chances go for it. I can truly say that my experience with Flower’s was «memorable».

I haven’t been here in ages & the last time I drove up it was closed, so I’m not sure if they closed down or I went at a time when they’re on vacation or something.
I used to live down the street from here & my roommate said she liked the place because we were craving fish & chips. It’s a family owned business. The girl at the counter was super cool and patient as we were figuring out our orders.
I tried whiting & cod fish but they also had a bunch of other stuff, including shellfish. We got our plates to go & when I got home & opened up it smelled soooo good! It also came with bread and hot sauce. I didn’t use the hot sauce but the roomie enjoyed it. It smelled like Tapatio hot sauce. Loved the fries & the fish, and so did our other friend and son. We went here plenty of times.
Once my son & I ate in the store & they had a couple of arcade games & I think a jukebox. It was nothing formal, but had a homey feeling. Oh yeah, parking lot is very small so you may have to park on the street.
Needless to say, I was very sad to not get any when I was last in the area & I hope they’re still open for others to enjoy. I just tried calling the number listed on the profile for it, so maybe they are open? I hope so, but I do remember them being closed on Sundays too, so I will have to try again in a couple of days to see if they’re still around.
Oh yeah, for those who are heath conscious, you might not want to come here, since they specialize in fried food.
