The inside of this place has a nice decorative look to it. They had one side for the bar area and another side if you wanted a table. The noise level in this area was a bit loud but that was probably because they had a few regulars at the bar watching college football. I went here because Sacanime had their convention nearby. Me and a friend decided we would try this place out because they did not have a line. We walk into the bar and was seated and greeted. The waiter was also our bartender so she was very attentive. I didn’t have to wait for her to comeback and ask if I wanted another beer she was asking this when I was almost halfway done with my first and second beer. When the food came it was good and the portion weren’t small. I will be back the next time they have something going on in that convention center I will just head to this place.

This has got to be one of the best HH in town! Monday thru Friday from 3pm-close??? Ridiculousness! I stopped in to meet my girls for a quick drink before a Unilocal Elite Event next door at Railbridge Cellars on Monday night. It was full but not packed. Half of us sat at the bar and the rest of us stood. No big deal. The bar area has a lot of seating, high tables and bar stools, although a bit crammed together. There’s a couple TV’s to watch the game and floor-to-ceiling windows to watch downtown life, whichever you find more interesting. The female bartender was nice, efficient, and attentive taking our orders, answering my dumb questions(«What’s a bay breeze?» «What’s a cape cod?»), and serving our drinks. We ended up going back to Claim Jumper after our Elite event was over. Why not? It’s still Happy Hour!!! I ordered the $ 5 spinach artichoke dip, which wasn’t the best I’ve had but it tasted ok. The warm, thin, and crispy tortilla chips it was served with were really good though. My friend had a decent $ 5 cab off the HH menu and my $ 4 bay breeze was refresing and filled-to-the-brim. I wouldn’t mind coming back and trying more HH food, as the menu looked pretty varied, with reasonable price points($ 3-$ 8). I’m surprised this place isn’t more crowded, but maybe things will change when the arena is in full swing.

TERRIBLE, CHEAP, ANDHORRIBLESERVICE! Claim Jumper is known for big portions & home style cooking. Our dinner was tiny and wayyy over priced. Granted my steak was cooked proper, it was TINY! And my side of green beans was withered and had literally 8 beans. BIGGESTWASTEOFMONEYIN A LONGTIME. DONOTGOHERE.

I have always heard about this restaurant but never gave it a try. My friend brought me here to celebrate my graduation for dinner. When we walked in we were greeted by a host, very friendly host as well. There is a bar located to the left if waiting for friends with televisions as well. We went in on a Sunday night and employees were wearing their football gear, very fun that they get to express their teams. There are both booths and tables available to choose from. When i glanced over the menu it reminded me of a fancier Bj’s Brewery. The food was fancier as well as the pricing of their food being a bit more expensive. I have to admit that I was not very impressed or interested when i looked at the menu, but everything turned out great at the end. For appetizers we had: Pretzels with cheese: they were okay nothing special and not great. Cheese was a disappointment because they were hard and cold, not warmed up enough or old. Bacon wrapped shrimp: Delicious! They had a little kick of spiciness to it. Lemon Pepper Zucchini: OMG! They were my absolute favorite appetizer. The batter was deliciously flavored, not too salty and fried just right. I never thought about frying zucchinis and they did it perfect. We all devoured the whole plate. Entrees: I had the Tilapia with rice pilaf and vegetables. Delicious! fish was cooked just right, rice pilaf was cooked just right and the vegetables were fresh. Clam chowder on the side was not that great. I would have chosen the veggie bar instead and gotten a salad and some fruit. My boyfriend had a burger of some sort and it was humungous, he said it was pretty good and didn’t complain. My friends had the tri tip dish and the filet mignon dish, they both said that their meat was cooked just perfectly.

I came here tonight with my parents, who are basically monthly visitors of this one, for an early dinner. The last time I tried to go with them it was so packed we couldn’t even get a table. Tonight, it was nice and quiet. This location is different than all the rest. It is much classier than a traditional Claim Jumper spot in décor and service, in my opinion. My dad got a filet, my mom got gluten free pasta, and I got the potato skin appetizer because I wasn’t that hungry. I’ve been to the Valencia location and this experience felt worlds different. Our food came out perfectly. Our server was amazing! He was funny, attentive, and actually he was pretty cute too! The manager came by to check on us once in the beginning and at the end for the check(the wait staff doesn’t do the checks at this spot, which I actually like). It was genuine customer service and good food in an upscale looking restaurant. I have no complaints!

Went here for a company holiday party on a rainy Sunday night. We got the private room off to the side. the venue was spacious and roomy. the table was set up kinda weird for a holiday party. They set it up like a u shaped seating with everyone sitting on the outside of the U and a large open space in the center. it was like the they were going to have some stand up comic come in a do a set or something. I thought that it might have been better to have the tables pushed together in order to engage more conversation, but oh well. We had a limited menu and had a choice of grilled shrimp, rotisserie chicken or bowtie pasta for our entrée. A small salad and a soft drink were also included. The salad was pretty unremarkable, just a small portion of lettuce thrown on a place with some dressings on the side. What’s irritating about this is that it seems like they have a few really good salads on the menu but we just got a very plain side salad of lettuce with absolutely nothing else on it. In addition, I had to stare at their«Produce Bar» out of the window of the banquet room and as I went to the rest room. That actually looked pretty good, but we were not able to partake in that. Here’s the rub. They charged us $ 25 each for the meal. I looked at the items on the menu and they were $ 10.99 for the grilled shrimp, as well as the bowtie pasta, and $ 12.99 for the chicken. So even if drinks were $ 2, they would have had to place a value of $ 5-$ 7 for the salad to bring it up $ 25 of you were to factor in a 9%tax and a 20% tip. Not really a good value IMHO. I did hear that have a nice Happy Hour and did not get to experience that, but am a little leery about coming back.

My friends and I hadn’t seen one another for a while due busy work schedules. We decided to celebrate the holidays a little early and meet here for dinner! We were greeted from a young nice lady. She seated us quickly and told us our server would be helping us shortly. No problem. We chatted and laughed and then the lady who seated us asked for our drink order because our server was backed up. No worries there… It took a while but our drinks finally showed up. We chatted more and things seem to be really super SLOW here. That was a true sign that we should have paid for our drinks and LEAVE. We finally decided on their juicy burgers and starvation mode is kicking in! Our server shows up with a smile and apologized! We move on to making our order and then we were told they were out of hamburger! What??? We were told they underestimated the morning rush and ran out! Someone was driving to Roseville to get more and we can get it shortly.(That’s at least an hour wait plus!). Hmmm… back to the menu! By the time we put our order in and we had three different waitresses(training day) that we were crazy hungry! Funny. Normally… when you’re hungry you can eat anything and it’s good. Not this time! Our tri tip french dip sandwich was horrible! The bread was stale on one end and totally soggy on the bottom. My friend liked the turkey sandwich. Overall…Sacramento has some great restaurants that I wouldn’t recommend this place on how they handled the situation. Very poor. I would give them zero stars for that. However… to be fair… this place is in a great building. Nice ambiance and super nice greeter who tried! No management came to apologize or offer anything to compensate the lonnnng wait for dinner.

Went for Happy Hour. Very limited choice. I had the small green salad. The lettuce was old and discolored. It was not the quality of the salad I have had in the past. The sliders. 1 tablespoon of meat we slider. I know they are Happy Hour size, but for $ 4.00, there should have been more meat. I have been to other restaurants in the area for happy hour, they are better quality. I will look at them in the future and skip Claim Jumpers for Happy Hour.

Just stopped in for lunch and a beer. The bartender was very friendly and quick to serve me in spite of how busy the place was. I had the blackened salmon and it was awesome. Very friendly service and a great atmosphere! Be back for sure!

Dinner on a Saturday nught, very busy– the we’re quick to seat us, our waiter Carlos was outstanding. Recommended pinapple margaritas, they were fantastic. We had a variety of food from steaks and shrimp to salads. Must say everyone was pleased with their selections. Parking tip, parking lot around the corner, $ 5.00 evening and weekends flat fee.

I would have to say that Claim Jumpers gives out the best Veteran’s Day meals that I know of. For some reason they celebrate Veteran’s Day two days early this year. Being a veteran I received a free meal from a select menu honoring all veterans, actives duty, and reserves. This was my first time at this Claim Jumpers. Being in downtown Sac during the lunch hour, I thought if would be pack. I got there and was seated right away. Waters and complimentary garlic cheese bread. For my meal I got tri-tip and shrimp two things I can eat a lot of, too bad it is not AYCE. The tri-tip was a little over cook for me as I like my steak rare, it was well done. Oh I never complain about a free meal. Service was great no complaints as they always had my water filled and frequently checked on us. Even if it wasn’t Veteran’s Day freebies I would still plan to have meals there.

Thanksgiving was awesome! The ham, turkey and all the fixens was good! The restaurant was peaceful, clean and bright. Waitress on point, oops I meant attentive for those who don’t know what«on point» means. We will return. I hear the happy hour is the best. Great job restaurant! You guys did good!

I visited Claim Jumper several months ago and am just now getting around to writing my review. Claim Jumper is huge open bar/restaurant. Nice décor but very touristy with food that is mediocre — comparable to TGIF. I had grilled shrimp and it left a lot to be desired. The wait staff were friendly and prices moderate. Good for large groups, and children.

It’s a chain, and before they took over McCormick and Schmick’s spot, the nearest one to me was in Roseville. The closest I’d ever had to eating here was one of their Banana Cream Pies in the frozen food section of the grocery store. Came for dine-in on Monday before Veterans Day for lunch with my sailor(Navyman?) J. since he got a free entrée from a select menu. Not sure why they didn’t have the free meal on the actual holiday though? The complimentary garlic cheesy bread was delish to start. He ended up getting the tri-tip and shrimp lunch, while I got the lunch portion tri-tip platter, medium rare(with mashed potatoes and veggies). We also shared the apple crumb cobbler dessert a la mode, which was a treat — and a surprise since we usually would go for a more chocolatey sort of sweet. Overall not a bad experience, not terribly busy for a Monday lunch hour, especially with the rainy weather. I found parking was available in the City Hall Garage($ 1.50/half hour).

Just like any other place in downtown Sacramento, this restaurant is a little pricey BUT!!! you totally get what you paid for. Love love it! We ordered calamari for appetizer and it’s sooo GOOOOOODD! the breading is a little crunchy and the calamari itself is so soft and juicy! I ordered my very own formula for the ultimate comfort food: Chocolate shake with vanilla ice cream and Rotisserie chicken with a side of cheesy mashed potato with bacon toppings for the entrée Chocolate shake + ice cream + chicken + cheesy mashed potato + bacon = HEAVEN! Don’t get me wrong but I had a salad on the side just to say that I had vegetables and trying to be healthy lol It was such a good dining experience and excellent customer service from Cecilia. I would totally come back and try other food in their menu.

I really had a good time here. The bartender was making some impressive drinks and she didn’t mind me asking questions about the ingredients. The staff didn’t report me for my excessive flirting either. I give them points for that! I can’t say I was real impressed with my food. The burger was drrrrrrrrryyyyy. Oh man! There was a severe absence of juicyness. The fries were those skinny kind that look like toothpicks. Bummer, I was hoping for better. I’ll go back but next time, salad bar.

Was feeling steak for the night and looked through the list of nearby places from our hotel. I saw Claim Jumper on there and thought I’d give it a try, since I have heard good things about them. It was only a few minute walk and we were greeted as we walked in. Even though I was mostly going for steak, shrimp sounded good too. I was excited when I saw a plate that came with both! 7oz top sirloin with coconut shrimp. yummy! Had a caesar salad and potatocakes on the side, as well as a Grey Goose cucumber lime drink to wash it down! Will have to visit again sometime.

This is an UPDATE from my last review… they gained a star. I came here for lunch with my Dad and Sister. My Dad decided to take his girls here for Valentine’s Day! Aww sweet rogt? Yeah I know… Any who, this experience was much much much better then before. Our waiter was extremely friendly and personable. They didn’t try to upsell us on any apps, etc. Like last time. That must be something they do when you’re in a large group! Food was really good and a nice size serving. I ordered the salmon again and it was delicious as it was before. I must say I do those roasted veggies.
