First time here. Found it here on Unilocal Here’s my review. Seat quickly The booths seats aren’t that comfortable. I wonder if that’s why they were getting a lot of to-go orders. Eating comfort food on your own comfortable couch is probably a better choice. Vanessa Server — She was nice. What we ordered: Water(tap water) and Iced tea — lemonade — just ok I ordered a Samson’s Magic — Breast/Wing — appeared to be fried in two different batters. The chicken was just okay. No really special. I asked for cheese in my eggs and it was shredded cheese sprinkled on top. Not what I had in mind. I didn’t care for the grits. I like my grits with sugar and there was only packets of sugar. *shrugs* Friend ordered same with 2 thighs, eggs over hard. His order came with a small thigh and what appeared to ½ of a breast. Fried well done. His Eggs were greasy. Waffle was extra crispy and not fully cooked inside. He said about the grits«they’re grits». Server was nice and attentive. I don’t think I’ll be back based on the prices. They’re slightly over priced based on the menu selection. I mean it’s essentially breakfast food. They’re charging $ 5.00+ for all of their sides and they’re only about 6 oz. I’m from Southern California and NOTHING compares to Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles. This should be called Richard’s Chicken & Waffles

The food was okayyyy but the chicken had feathers, the ice cream was freezer burnt, the cornbread was like a piece of toast and they didn’t even have mashed potatoes. Like I really cant believe this place is so expensive for some crappy food. Makes me sad. I wanted to enjoy a great southern style meal but couldn’t. Oh and my waffle was in every way wrong. If I could give them no stars I would. But the mac n cheese isn’t too bad.

Mmmm best chicken and waffles I have ever had! I ordered the Sam’s special with chicken tenders, the touch of cinnamon in the waffles gave great flavor. And opened 24 hours?! Definitely my new go to place. Service was excellent as well. Will be back soon.

This is not the usual Belgian waffle you get at most breakfast joints. This waffle is different. It’s dense yet soft, has a heavy allspice/nutmeg/cinnamon flavor, with little crispness on the edges. I would prefer the entire waffle to be a little more crispy, but I really enjoyed it. It was the perfect pairing to my fried chicken wings. The wings were lightly battered, had a nice crunch, seasoned, not greasy, and most importantly, cooked perfectly. The order(«Bubba’s Best») comes with 3 chicken wings and a waffle but our awesome server Chris threw in an extra wing«because they’re a little small.» Service was great! Chris was polite, welcoming, attentive, and efficient. I also got a side of greens, which were tender and tasty, but I wish the leaves were chopped into smaller pieces. It was somewhat awkward eating almost whole leaves from a little cup. The hot sauce(housemade?) wasn’t spicy but did the trick on my chicken and greens. My boyfriend ordered the steak and eggs(with diced country potatoes), which was a mediocre dish at best. I’d say stick with the chicken and waffles at a restaurant called«Chicken N Waffles»! Pro tip: Open 24 hours Thurs-Sun. Don’t go to IHOP, go HERE!

Love this place and come here every chance I get. The fried chicken is really good and even better smothered. Really like the waffles too and love that they’re thinner and go well with the chicken.(I really hate thick soggy waffles.) The place is really clean and staff is extremely friendly and professional which just adds to the pleasant experience. Had to take a star off because the steak is no good. Super bland and just not worth it at all. Everything else I’ve tried has been great and I almost always order something to go even after dining in.

The only reason I gave it two stars and not one is the customer service is great. Food was embarrassingly awful. Chicken taste 2 days old and fried over, greens were nearly all stems and the cornbread wasn’t cornbread. It was«maybe» 4-day old cornbread sliced and toasted. I think you get my picture. This is my second review… I keep giving it a chance but it gets worse and worse!

Chicken N Waffles has the branding power working for it. Chicken, Waffles, what could go wrong? I’m afraid that name alone is the only thing keeping this place in business. Poor service could have been the only gripe about this restaurant however the food was icing on the cake. Waffles were thick and soggy, with a nutmeg taste that wasn’t a bonus for me. The chicken was actually alright, subtle flavor but a nice crispy skin. Do get the fried chicken, avoid the smothered chicken. It’s not as good!

The bf’s choice for dinner. Service is still great(Vanessa), but the food quality has gone way down. My usual order is the Sam’s, one waffle and 3 fried drumsticks. Sometimes I’d split an order of the Joseph’s and get one waffle and two pieces of chicken. Tonight I felt greedy and got Alma’s, which is one waffle, two legs and two thighs(so two quarters = bottom ½ a chicken, haha), smothered or fried. J. ordered the Joseph’s which is two waffles and four pieces of chicken(breast, wing, leg, thigh). He originally asked for one of each kind, but they didn’t have the breast meat so he subbed in another thigh. Food came out quick enough. The chicken pieces I got were a little on the small side, but all were cooked well, the fried skins crisp. Hot sauce helped. The waffle, on the other hand, was pretty thick, dense and soft, the flavor was still there but not crispy. One of the thighs on the Joseph’s plate was pink inside. Rather than get a new piece(no guarantee the new one would be okay), we opted to have it taken off the bill instead. Water was never refilled. They’re 24-hours on Thurs-Sun, and I’m not sure if it’s the cooks on evening shifts or what, but at least serve waffles and chicken that are done all the way, please.

This is one of those times where I kind of feel bad writing a bad review because the waitress was SO nice, but… The waffles are thin, floppy, and generic. They tasted okay, like a level up from Eggo, but nothing special. The syrup is decent. The chicken breast was larger than a chicken breast should be, and parts of the meat were a little yellow, and I come across low-quality chicken(i.e. Tyson, Foster Farms, etc.) so infrequently that it honestly didn’t even occur to me as a possibility until I paid $ 10 for a piece of it. At a place called«Chicken N Waffles,» I made the mistake of assuming that they would have chicken a level or two up from fast-food status. I would just like chicken that isn’t processed in China. That’s all. My daughter’s chicken strips just looked wrong. Like half an inch thick and in weird shapes– she had this one piece that she kept flipping back and forth, «Look, it’s a ‘S!’ Now it’s a ‘Z!’» It made me think of that episode of Married with Children where Al says, «This one is curly just like a rat’s tail!» and Kelly shudders because maybe it IS a rat’s tail… So I was trying to tell myself that this place is not THAT jankity, that it just seems like it is because the décor is so reminiscent of the cafeteria at Sutter Roseville Hospital… and then I noticed a little black hair on my daughter’s plate. Neither of us have any hairs that are remotely black in color. It looked like it probably came from a man’s head. We used the restroom on the way out and it was dirty. As we passed by the kitchen, I noticed that it was just disgusting. Okay so keep in mind that I work in a restaurant. If my boss ever walked in to a kitchen like that, I’m 95% sure that everyone in the building would be fired. I understand that different places have different standards, but this was just utterly unacceptable. I mean, come on, it’s bad enough to have a nasty kitchen, but to let it be that nasty when the full view is open to the guests? I’m always so baffled when I see this. There is no chance that I will ever come back.

I was so pumped to try this place for dinner on a Tuesday Night! The first time I came here was when I ordered French Fries to go and it was delicious! I was excited to actually sit down and grub the second time and was actually disappointed! We got seated right away and the inside is okay… Pretty clean but it doesn’t have that«welcome» feel. It has an open kitchen which is cool and we had Vanessa as our server and she was cool… BUT they seemed way under staffed because the phone kept ringing off the hook and no one picked it up! They need some improvements! We ordered the fried okra as an app and it was VERY disappointing… Actually it was disgusting… DONOTORDER because they did not batter the okra all the way AND there was a LOT of batter and not much Okra… It was like Eating deep fried FLOUR! I ordered the country fried steak with season fries and rice. The chicken was pretty good… Juicy, tender BUT not enough gravy. The season fries were good BUT the rice was horrible… Tasted like rice made out of a box! Being Asian, I love my rice and what I had here was NOT good rice… My lady ordered the bubba plater and it was DRY but she was so hungry she ate it… 3 wings and season fries… For the price we paid here, you can go to KFC and get a whole lot more… Also, with the okra being so bad, it would have been cool if they took it off the bill… They did offer to make us another one BUT I did not want another order of just batter. 1 star for the fries, pretty good chicken fried steak BUT not enough gravy… Is it worth trying… If you desire… It’s not worth the hype!

Mmm… Mmm… Mmm… Delicious! Loved the fried chicken freshly made … Crispy, hot, and tasty! The syrup was very tasty too… I wish the waffle was a little thicker but still good… I recommend! And open 24hrs!

The restaurant atmosphere reminds me of a Denny’s or IHOP. We came here late Sunday night and we were seated right away. We ordered the SAMs Chicken n Waffle and Chicken sandwich. The food was pretty good, the waffle is alittle dense for my taste. The Chicken strips were lightly fried and moist. I wish it had more seasoning to it but we got several dipping sauces to try. The chicken sandwich was good. You can tell there was a tons a butter for the bread but the Chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Pretty much everything you want from a chicken sandwich. The fries that came with it tasted old tho. We did receive great service. Will definitely be back!

Been wanting this for a while, heard many good things. But today for the 1st time and last. The waffles are thick and has alot of spices going on in it. Seemed like nutmeg and cinnamon, but im not a fan of those in my waffles and the dense thickness i am not either. I like mine more light crispy. Then we had the side of mac n cheese which was $ 4.99. So not worth it alone just for the size of it. But when we started in a few bites it was dry and cheese was clumped up to one side. So that didnt hit the spot either. The fried leg was ok taste wasnt that great but atleast it was cooked fully. Now the chicken tenders were amazing. I was scared at 1st when i saw them, they were small peices but they were cooked awesome, some of the best i have had. There was no hard crunchy pieces to, that was great. Service was friendly, pretty good except they forgot my wifes strawberry lemonade. Not sure if we will go back, but it wont be for the waffles, maybe i might try the omelets. But maybe not.

Saw the little lighted truck on Arena Blvd on the way to Arco Arena(Sleep Train) today am and had to Unilocal this place to see where it was at. We were at Roscoe’s a few months back, and my wife said that was the gold standard, so we had to check out this place to see how it compared. It’s a little difficult to find, but in the area right next to I-5 and Del Paso. There is an IHOP and the Malabar restaurant in the same area. When we got in, the first impression is that this place was 200% cleaner than Roscoe’s. Of course this place is significantly newer, but Roscoe’s has made a grip of money over the years to at least keep their place clean. We were promptly greeted and sat in a booth. the server asked us if we had been there before and went over the menu. He was very nice and efficient. The food consisted of very good chicken, nicely fried and tasty skin, with a oft and moist chicken inside. The waffles were good, not great, slightly chewy for my taste and not as fluffy as I like them(my preference). They were served with a generous butter portion and maple syrup. We also got the garlic parmesan fries and they were excellent. Nice portion and very tasty. Service was top notch, very attentative and helpful. They really went out of their way to be helpful. We will be back to check out the rest of their menu.

Ran a Spartan race in Sacramento back in early November and figured I deserved a post-race feast. At least there were plenty of options within walking distance of the hotel. Checked out the Malabar, but it was WAY noisy and a group at the bar complained to the bartender that they’ve been waiting an hour for their order, so I had a scotch and came here. Most of the menu items are named after people. I had the«Joe’s Special», which is your standard half a chicken and waffle. Think they put a bit of cinnamon in their batter, gives it a subtle flavor. Place is clean, but pretty utilitarian. Had quite a few people coming in and out(besides, why go to Coco’s or IHOP), so that was a good sign. $ 18.43 for a big old tasty fried chicken feast.

I came in for a late lunch. Being by myself I asked to sit at the counter. I sat right smack in the middle of the restaurant, which looks right into the open kitchen. Kudos to the only cook for churning out the food. Plus if you ever wonder if the collards are fresh, the answer is yes. I saw the big pot of fresh collards near the stove waiting to be cooked to order. The interior is new, modern, and clean. The counter chairs were upholstered high boy swivels which were sturdy and comfortable enough. Vanessa, my waitress, was great. I ordered a lemonade and Bubba’s best, it comes with 4 wings and your choice of a waffle, cornbread, or a side. I asked if the lemonade was homemade or soda fountain, Vanessa advised that the lemonade was homemade but comes with no refills. The lemonade was delicious, not too sweet or tart. My food and not the plate came out hot, which is good… no microwaving. The wings were not greasy and had a nice crispy exterior. The meat was juicy tender. The waffle was tasty. I love that the waffles are fLat vs Belgian. For my first visit, I enjoyed the food and the service. I will be back.

Okay, y’all need to take note. Sacramento has more fast food and chain restaurants then any major city needs. Embrace the difference. First off, four stars… They aren’t inexpensive. We ordered the Bobby Jean. Charge up for breast meat. Two huge waffles. The waffles are dense and filling. They have s homemade taste that’s good. The chicken. Four huge pieces. Not greasy. Again, has that homemade freshness. It was made while we waited. We ordered the greens. A tad salty for my taste. The gravy didn’t do much for me, and I’d take a pass on it in the future. Okay, I didn’t like it. Big bonus… They don’t use pork in anything they make. If you plan on going, the peach cobbler looked good(saw it on someone’s table) it’s a thirty minute wait for it Go. Try. It. Enjoy !! I should have added that we had leftovers, and easily another meal! Plus, it’s a good place for kids and adults. Expense aside.
