The menu is the same as for years with relatively good food; however, the plate & serving sizes have gone down. In particular, my husband & I get a bowl of Hot & Sour Soup which has been down-sized & have to serve ourselves now. Ordering a Combo Plate @ $ 10.50 is way smaller. The General Chicken with pork fried rice was good-but the Chicken Chow Mein contained 2 shreds of cabbage & «1» shred of carrot. My husband did find a couple pieces of celery & about a ¼ of an onion. When reviewing the menu for ingredients, the server asked if she could get us anything else & I said the vegetables that were supposed to be on our order would be nice-but I had my concerns about what we would get at that point. We’ll try the Chang’s at DelPaso next time & they should remember it would be polite of THEM to box our leftovers-like they used to do. This has been the same problem the last several months with both of these restaurants. Still good food-just smaller portions & this time lacking veggies.

We ordered general chicken, shrimp chow mein, and bbq pork fried rice. Food: 3.5÷5 Customer service: 1 Customer service: ordered 2 «sodas». She brings us 2 diet cokes that tastes bleh without asking us what we want. She puts our to go food in a funky noodle shipment box instead of a bag. Next customers walks out with his to go food in a bag. Awkward. It is Chinese food so I had no high expectations anyways. First time here. Last time here. Additional worthy notations: food came out super fast. Good that it came fast but makes one wonder how fresh it is.

It’s not the best Chinese food I’ve ever had, but I can’t find anything better in Sacramento. It’s still really good, they just don’t have the particular plates I like. What they do make, I really like. It’s not greasy. The portions are big. They are very friendly. All pretty important to me. My favorite things are the potstickers and house chow mein. I will keep coming back.

Came here on Sunday and ordered the beef and broccoli combo with fried rice and plain chow mein, I also ordered war wonton soup. The soup was huge and it was very tasty, the wontons were amazing and the soup had shrimp, chicken and strips of pork in it too. The broccoli was delicious and crunchy but my issue is with the beef, I originally thought it was the shrimp that taste funny from here but after tasting the beef and chicken I realized that it’s that they are using old oil to fry food and it gives the food a funny after taste so I probably wont be going there again anytime soon.

This place would’ve been a 3.5−4 before they raised their prices. Most dishes are 10 bucks now. No thanks for American-style Chinese food. The food is ok, service is hit or miss. I know this isn’t SF(yeah, so my taste in Chinese food is high), but damn, I’m not paying $ 40-$ 60 bucks for meh«Chinese» food.

This is just down the road from my house so I finally tried it out. Ordered a lunch plate to go here for about $ 10 and change. for the quality of the food I got for that price I wish I had just gone to Panda’s express instead. I don’t recommend this place nor will I return.

Our fave Chinese restaurant in Natomas! I don’t usually like Chinese food, but this place definitely can satisfy my Chinese food cravings when I have them. Everything I have tried so far has been delicious. My favorite dish is the salt and pepper chicken wings!!! The skin is crispy and the meat is juicy! OMG — oh SO salty, but oh SO good! One time they were out of the salt and pepper chicken wings so I had to settle for the salt and pepper shrimp. OMG — just as salty, almost as good! We have never actually sat down to eat in the restaurant, so this review is just for the food and the to-go service. There is usually only one waitress working out front(serving tables, taking to go orders, picking up the phone, etc) so your to-go order may take awhile. Don’t come here if you are in a hurry. We ordered ahead one time(food for 15 – 20 people) and they didn’t start cooking until someone arrived to pick it up. At least we know the food is cooked hot and fresh? I have seen other people arrive for pick up with their food ready, so maybe the delay only happens with large orders. The to-go portions are huge and they stuff the rice and noodles as much as possible into the boxes.

Terrible service so far. The lady at the counter was an eye rolling, neck wobbling, finger snapping bratty preteen trapped in a middle aged, chinese lady’s body. she took a deep sigh every time we had a question about the menu, or tried to get her attention. I guess she doesn’t take too kindly to newcomers having questions about her menu. Will update as soon as I taste the food. It will have to taste as if the lord himself was the chef in order to change this rating… **update** We ordered broccoli/beef, shrimp chow mein, shrimp fried rice, and crispy garlic chicken(which she gave a completely misleading description of). everything was so so. Nothing was worth coming back for and I STRONGLY suggest they put someone in front that has basic social skills because the person who«helped» us was over the top rude…

Food here is okay. It is what you would expect for American style Chinese. I am a huge take out fan and the food is what you would expect — not really great or anything but okay. I agree with an earlier reviewer that mentioned all the items tastes a little orange-y and it seems food is cooked and stored in a fridge and then warmed up. So it is not really fresh and you can tell. The service is friendly and they understand English.

Came in and ordered to go. It took them a while to make the food so we figured it would be pretty good since things were made fresh. The potstickers were made fresh and looked very appealing. Unfortunately the taste didn’t match up. The filling was tasteless mashed pork with absolutely no seasoning, reminded me of the consistency of wet cat food, ick. The sweet and sour chicken was deep fried and very weirdly shaped. The flavor wasn’t there. The consistency and taste was not good. Hands down the oddest looking Chinese dish I have ever had. The only positive was the fresh vegetables. We fed some of it to our neighbors dog and tossed the rest. The veggie chow mein was good, would have been better with a bit more flavor, if I ordered it again I’d ask for it spicy. The one standout here was the Ginger Beef. We ordered it spicy and it was delicious. Spicy but not too spicy and great flavors. If only anything else here was on par with this. I might go back just to order this, besides that I likely wouldn’t. Overall pretty disappointing for over $ 30. The lady who rang us up was nice. Be advised the kitchen is basically in the dining room so if you were planning to dine in it’s hot, lots of strong smells going on etc. I personally wouldn’t.

Meh. I ordered the General’s Chicken lunch special which came with soup, egg roll, choice of fried or steamed rice. It was definitely not anything to brag about. The plate was overwhelmed with sauce, which in turn made the deep fried chicken pieces very soggy. Egg roll was subpar as the vegetables they used were mostly mustard greens, and made it very horseradish-y. Also, everything on my plate had a hint of orange taste with it. The only reason why it didn’t get one star was that the egg drop soup we got was pretty good and it didn’t have the artificial food coloring like most places drench their egg drop soup with yellow 5. Waitress or manager or whatever she was literally took a look at how much we tipped and got annoyed. tl;dr — Don’t get short Chang’d by eating here. Plenty of other places that are a thousand times better.

2⁄5 would not go back. They have decently priced lunch specials here. I tried the General Chicken combo($ 7.50). Served with an eggroll and fried rice. For some reason everything tastes very orange-y. Like they left the food uncovered in a fridge with oranges. The chicken was nice and hot but all soggy. The service was friendly though.

This is my go-to americanized chinese food spot. It’s not the best, and it’s definitely not home-cooked good, but it hits the spot. I generally get a plate of noodles and a plate of protein and have food for a couple of days. Portions are pretty good. I just call for take out and pick up my food and go home. There’s two in the area, but when I call, they always ask if I’m going to the one by Safeway, just to make sure. I’m not a fan of the chow fun, because it doesn’t have a lot of the flat rice noodles. Their meats(orange chicken, garlic crispy beef…) are pretty saucy and battered. Nevertheless, it hits the spot and is quick and plentiful. It doesn’t hurt that it’s near Quickly…

4 stars for American-Chinese food and not comparing it to authentic/traditional Chinese food. I’ve been here a few times whenever I crave American-Chinese food, so I typically order the combination plate. The fried rice is on point and that on its own gets 5 stars. It exceeded my expectations. The chow mein did not impress me. The sweet and sour chicken was terrible; Panda Express serves better sweet and sour chicken. The sauce is pour over the battered fried chicken piece and not cooked with the chicken. The sauce was disappointing. It tasted orangey and the flavors were not well blended, if that makes sense. I would go back again but try different dishes that I can enjoy.

While the food is only average, their lunch and dinner specials give you so much food that it almost makes up for the fact you’re eating very meh food. I will say that it’s very confusing to have 2 different locations very close to each other, and they are definitely NOT patient when you try to call in a to-go order. It’s always loud, they’re always in a rush, and they always seem to be yelling at you for something or another. But the food comes out fast and they’ve never messed up an order so I guess it’s working for them??? Even though they close at 9 pm, they will not let you eat in the restaurant starting at around 8:20 pm — to go orders only. Again, not a huge deal, but kind of inconvenient and startling when you stroll in expecting to be seated. It’s not the best quality wise — very americanized and mediocre tasting but it’s a good bang for your buck quantity wise.

Came here for a family style lunch with my friends. The food is so so. Their lunch specials are good and reasonable prices.
