I have been to this home and garden show at least two or three times in the past and it had never been very busy. I think this year’s show had more exhibiters than usual but it still did not attract the crowds like a lot of other home shows. Of course, this was great for us because we did not have to fight the crowds. My sorta mother-in-law had asked us to attend this year’s show in order to check out the artificial turf booths. Fortunately for her there were four or five of them but, unfortunately for her, none of the companies were interested in selling her any unless she paid them to install it. We also checked out curling irons. Yuuuuuup, you read it correctly, curling irons. You know, the kind they use to straighten and curl hair. I am not sure what they have to do with homes and gardens but they were at the show and they attracted my girl friend’s attention. After wandering around and seeing what the vendors had to offer, we purchased our usual drinks from«Maui Wowi Hawaiian Coffees & Smoothies» with the added«VIP» treatment before relaxing and listening to a surprisingly interesting lecture on sustainable plant alternatives. Overall, I would say I had a good time. It is not the best H & G show but I will probably be back again.

Underwhelming! Don’t waste your money. I was looking forward to this and came away very disappointed. At least there was some interesting people watching with the Animé gathering.

This specializing show focuses on improving, renovating and remodeling your home and/or yard. Businesses from the Northern California region set up exhibits here to demonstrate what they offer, answer questions and hope to attract new customers. The show happens twice a year in January and September at the Sacramento Convention Center. Joe K. and I love attending these events whenever we can, to get ideas and to see if we can get help on projects we are working on. The Home & Garden Shows held at the convention center are not as big as the ones at Cal Expo or Auburn Fair grounds, but I find it much more relaxing and less stressful to browse the convention center because it is usually less crowded with people. There is still a nice variety of exhibitors and you get friendly, receptive representatives that give you more personal attention which sometimes result in getting discounts or the benefits of show specials. Our most recent visit here had a lot of interesting ideas concerning California’s important issue of water conservation. Guest speakers were on hand to inform the public of how we can cut back and save our water systems. Drought tolerant plants, water rationing, and the latest inventions on how to use and reuse water are just a few topics offered for all those who should take water conservation more seriously. Tickets to these shows are very inexpensive and you can get $ 2.00 off when you go to the website and print their coupons: There is also nearby parking options from street parking to lots, to garage facilities all at nominal fees. The Home and Garden shows are never boring. That’s why we find ourselves returning year after year to gain knowledge on the latest and most innovative of designs available to the average consumer such as us! Who doesn’t need a little improvement in their lives?
