Fantastic, friendly, and comfortable salon boasting the absolute best-​in-​the-​business color and style guru — Dave! Go see him now. He is so creative and kind. He makes the time fly by. He is honest with you about what will/won’t work and makes sure that you leave 100% satisfied. He has taken my hair on a journey from dry, damaged, and unruly to shiny, healthy, and a breeze to manage. I have never received quite so many compliments on my color and cut as I have since I started visiting Dave on the regular. Oh, and he is not at all pushy with expensive add-​on products and services, which I find refreshing. Plus, the shampoo chairs are the most comfortable ever, with foot rests and padding at the neck so you are not aching by the time they finishing rinsing your hair.

Verrrrrry excited to have tried this place. I was lucky enough to have Peter do my hair, and he did NOT disappoint. He is a pro pro pro! Corrected MONTHS (almost a year really) of meh cuts and colors in ONE GO.
Atmosphere is classy-​chic, relaxed but professional.
Very progressive talented stylists, I have never seen such awesome tricks and technique in one salon.
Price is very reasonable, I paid $ 100 for color touch up and correction, highlights, blow-​out, style and cut!!! My hair is really long too.
Also, this salon is NOT pretentious. They are all friendly, fun, and just really great people.
Oh, and I literally went in without any pictures… Sorta knew what I wanted… And Peter made magic happen. I feel bad bc I was like, «um, er, long, warmish chocolate brown, style: I don’t know, highlights, I think… But nothing too crazy… Just do whatever» lol!!! But dannnnnngggggg. Very happy

Chelsea is the best. Incredibly skilled, professional and funny! I always look forward to my appointments at this great salon. The red chandelier is awesome.

I’ll probably give them an another shot, since this is a highly rated location, yet I can’t help but complain for now.
Wednesday morning before work I pull in to book an appointment.
I walk by and I had to take a second look to make sure if this is a high end, expensive salon or am I at a wrong place.
Screaming, misbehaved, unattended children everywhere… running under the chairs and next to the tools, disturbing peace, playing with styling stuff. so unprofessional!
Where’s the upscale, relaxing atmosphere people review?
I didn’t bother to book on that day, I wouldn’t want to have my hair done in such environment since I believe that part of the haircut cost is the luxury of relaxation and that wouldn’t be delivered.

Trianna Rachel is professional and extremely talented!!! Her color and cuts are on point for what I ask for and I am always so impressed with her blonde! She is the best!!!

Tria has been doing my hair the last 10 years & she always works her magic & exceeds my expectations. The one time I regretfully cheated on her & went to another stylist, I ended up back in her chair so she could fix the mess the stylist gave me. I wouldn’t trade it for anything else in Metro Detroit. Peter is a real professional, top of the line expert at color and cut. I come monthly and everyone I’ve run into here is a pleasure to be around. Julie is another gem.
I am sitting in the super cozy waiting and relaxation area of P. La as I type this, the kind that’s hard to come by in other salons. The interior is very stylish, accommodating and pleasing. Amazing salon experience. Highly recommended.
Prices are very good for what you get. Color is about 60 – 80. Cut is 40 I think. And a glass of wine on the house!

I had my hair done here about a month ago. I purposely scheduled a consultation because I wanted to MAKE SURE what I wanted could be possible. I am also licensed and I was referred here considering my specialty is nails and not hair. I showed pictures of what I wanted and it was made clear that it can be done.
All of the signs were clear that the stylist didn’t know what they were doing. It’s pretty bad when other stylists go behind their back and whisper because they know the stylist just made mistakes. I wanted something close to an ombré (like what is shown)
Obviously I was furious as you can see I didn’t get anything I wanted. I was sitting with BLEACH in my hair for over 2 hours! (Bleach will dry after time and not work but still damage your hair) I gave them benefit of doubt.
The manager knew my hair was messed up; when I called the next day they had no issue returning my my money but when I went back to get my hair fixed (just re looted back to natural) there was miss communication. Usually when your hair is bleached or lightened they can only deposit color with a protein filler on and be ok. Come to find out he just threw a Demi on there without telling me.
I do not recommend. Some stylists aren’t licensed but they are still working on customers hair. I was surprised at all the reviews– but then it depends on your stylist

Best salon in Michigan. In downtown Royal oak, great location with parking available any time of the day. Roman the owner is an amazing hairstylist and friend. I would highly recommend to go see him and his stuff

Peter is simply the best. I have never left feeling like anything, but Beyonce! You won’t regret it!

Roman has been my stylist for nearly, let’s just say forever, and now that he’s opened his own salon I cannot say enough good things about it.
I rarely give Roman direction and let him do whatever he wants to my hair and I’ve NEVER, in all these years, been disappointed, NEVER! He always gives me the most up-​to-​date color and style that fits my features and lifestyle.
You’ll be pampered at P.La. The stylists and staff work as a team to give you the best experience imaginable. The décor is stylish and beautiful (the hair washing massage chair is pretty awesome) and the staff is warm, friendly and talented. What more could you want. :)

Roman was recommended by a makeup artist, and I was told he does great work with blondes.
Roman has a big client base but I don’t ever have a problem getting in. He sees late appts on Thursdays.
There is a private parking lot, no need to feed the RO meters.
Staff is personable and attentive.
I would recommend this salon to all of my friends.

I rarely give 5 star reviews on anything, but P’La has earned every star! In my opinion, Any 5 star review requires meeting and exceeding expectations on a variety of topics within any business model; service, products and product knowledge, personal attention, consistency, atmosphere and the overall customer experience from check in to checkout! I have been a client since they opened so I can check the box for consistency right from the start!
I owe much of the credit to Kurt (my fav stylist) who consistently exceeds my expectations with service and the overall experience. His attention to detail and product knowledge is always catered to the unique needs of my very fine (naturally dishwater) blonde, locks. Cut and color are not an easy task when it comes to these finicky tresses which he has now mastered. He has taken the time to learn how my hair responds to different products, never sacrificing the health of my hair. Whenever I feel like trying something new he does it within it’s natural limits.
The atmosphere is awesome… Lofty, trendy, artful space with lots of windows! After working long hours the last thing I want to do is sit in more artificial lighting. I believe this natural light is crucial to color. The light gives me confidence that we have achieved the right shade BEFORE I get into my car! If not, Kurt’s willingness to make adjustments to satisfy this persnickety client is unmatched!
I feel very welcome and accommodated upon arriving. Depending on my mood they have plenty of beverages to offer so (although I rarely wait) I wouldn’t mind relaxing with tea or wine for a few minutes!
The massage chairs at the wash bowl are a great relaxing feature especially since this is my favorite part. Everything about this salon is upscale, from top notch product lines (which smell and feel amazing) to the personalized service. Although the best part… All of this has been achieved without the pretentious attitudes that tend to poison many salons!
The prioritization of the client experience is apparent. Combine that with the obvious dedication to healthy, beautiful hair, and there you have it folks… P’La has my 5 stars rating without hesitation. Well done Roman!

I’ve had a very difficult time finding a salon in Michigan — but I am finally home. Kurt is my stylist and always listens attentively to my needs. He’s given me the best cuts and highlighting of my life. My hair is now very pretty AND low-​maintenance. I also love how peaceful the salon is — it’s not like other large salons where there are loads of people, hair-​dryers blowing, and generally stressful craziness going on. Many of the salons I’ve been at are expensive and have assistants doing all the work — not at this place. Kurt gives you 100% attention.

Roman has been my stylist for 2+ years and I can’t say enough good things about him. I am picky about finding a person to trust with my hair but I’ve been completely happy with him and can’t imagine going to anyone else. I followed him to his new salon P. La and it is great. It is laid-​back but elegant, and everyone working there is so friendly. I very highly recommend it.

Roman Barrett is here! Enough said! He’s the BEST color/​stylist in southeast michigan hands down!
