George & Daughters’hair Port

I lived in Royal Oak for 7 years and I used to come here semi-​regularly. George (the father) was there, along with his daughters and I thought to myself «what a cool business name»! It’s direct, to the point, and clever.
Well, I’ve lived away from Royal Oak for over 5 years now, so when I came back to get my hair cut I was saddened to hear that George passed away. It’s still a family affair, however, as his daughter and grand-​daughter are still in and giving great haircuts. It’s a small place, so I usually call before I come rather than just walking in, but there are always people who seem to just drop on by when I’m there.
I was worried when I heard that the land right behind George & Daughters’ Hair Port was sold, that perhaps they would also sell out, but I was happy to hear that they are staying put. Thanks for staying in business, George & (Grand) Daughters!

I just love this place, they don’t make places like this anymore. This place is a third generation salon with a barber shop feel. Karen and Keely both do a great job with my hair everytime. I had struggled to find a place that can reliably and affordably cut my hair in this area, the search is over. Also I think it’s funny that Mr. 1 star review didn’t even get a hair cut. You will not be disappointed you chose to get your hair cut care here.

I love this place! We get my niece’s arrow straight hair cut here and Karen does a great job for the type of hair my niece has. She’s so friendly and relaxed!

I walk into this shitty hair salon where the barber/​stylist is sitting in the barber chair she looks at me and doesn’t evening acknowledge my existence. We stared at each other for 35 to 45 seconds and she says can I help you? She sits me down as she continues to talk about old family relationships with some other guy besides myself. I pretended to get a phone call and I left. HORRIBLE customer service! I will NEVER go back.
