Been to Ye Star a couple of times. So far the food has been great! The patrons are the worst part of our experience there. When the crab legs come out, it’s like piranha! Worst part, the parents encouraged that behavior. Regardless, food is pretty darn good.

Yummy! We had a great time and all the food was good! The food is hot which is nice. I’ve been to some buffets where the food is cold by the time you get back to your table. They also have a Mongolian grill which is delicious! The prices are a little high of you go for dinner or on weekends but other than that I can’t wait to go back!

I’ve eaten there twice and got sicker than a dog each time just a few hours later!!! First time was June 2015 for Father’s Day, I thought because of the whole cilantro thing going around. So, I tried it again a second time, January 2016 and the same thing: Diarrhea, severe abdomen pain and sour stomach. I will never ever visit this place again.

The service was horrible! We never even got seated! Was waiting for 45 minutes annd was told didn’t have open seating for party of 9. But another large group came in with someone known to the personal and was seated immediately! We were also told no reservations were allowed! So I am rating this restaurant with a BIGFATZERO!!! Only reason 1star is checked because it wouldn’t let me post without a star!

5 stars for me. Not the best one I have tasted from almost two dozen I have been to everywhere, but this one can’t be beat either. The food I got was all tasty and I am happy about it. They have a great Mongolian style area. I am planning that next visit. I am guessing that they have improved much over time based on some negative reviews they got. This my second time coming here and I am happy on the first and happy as well tonight. For crab leg lovers, this is your place for dinner as they serve large ones unlike other buffets. Staff from reception to waitering was great.

Things have gone downhill here since I went last. The place looks fairly clean, but the food was very average.

Idk how this place only has 2 ½ stars, the service was great, the food was A M A Z I N G everything was organized nicely and labled. They even had outstanding sushi which ive never seen before. More dessert than you can imagine and on the inside is really nice! They have this really cool chandelier with LED lights surrounding it. The whole time I was here the lady was constantly cleaning(deep cleaning) washing the walls down, sweeping and always getting our plate when we were done to have more room at out table. Very great my new favorite chinese food place!

I have been here several times. The service is good and consistent. The food is good and the price is good. There are always items at any buffet that suck. I would suggest to them to get better egg rolls. They deserve a better rating.

I was super excited when I walked in because I have never seen a Mongolian buffet. That part was cool and that’s about where it stopped. My boyfriend and I piled up a few pieces of meat, veggies, and sauce and gave it to the man to cook it up. I threw a bunch of sauce and garlic on mine and it was still flavorless. The meat was cut really thin so it cooked quick and didn’t give the guy enough time to fully cook the vegetables. We got back to the table and our meat was overcooked and chewy but the vegetables were still raw. Disappointing, but we finished it anyway. We tried lots of things on the buffet and thought there was a pretty good variety. But everything we put on our plate ended up being extremely greasy and tasted like old oil, including the soups and«crab» Rangoon. I finally decided to grab dessert and the cheesecake slices seemed promising but were still frozen. I waited around for it to thaw some but we ended up just leaving, I was done at that point. I will give it 3 stars for their crab legs at least. My boyfriend said they tasted great, the only downside being they only bring like 10 – 15 out at a time and people jump on them like vultures. Overall I was not impressed and if it were up to me I would not come back. But my boyfriend enjoyed it overall and wants to give them one more chance, so let’s hope next time is better!

Where should I begin? I have been to this location 4 times. I hate that the Austin area lacks amazing Chinese buffet place. Finding an awesome buffet place is hard. I can see why people deter from going to them. Location — Awesome because its north and near I-35. Food-Depends on when you go. On my last visit I went after 6 on a Monday night. No fresh sushi and they were trying to make fresh sushi rolls. There is only guy rolling so it took about 20 to 25 mins for just one roll to come out. I feel like they have an ok variety of things. I love their seafood salad and egg noodles. They have a lot of fried foods and I try to avoid those. I was super suprised to see that they did not have a soft serve machine. Setting-The floors were horrible! There were crab legs and food all on the carpet underneath the tables. I tried to not pay attention to the floors but YUCK! Service-prompt and picked up the used plates quick. Refills were done quickly.

Me: I’m stuffed! Like many reviews say, you can go somewhere better, but you can also go places more expensive and eat less food. I’d say this is on the upper end of buffet’s. Really good food. Great selection, good price. I’ll be back. I had broccoli beef/chicken, fried rice, general Tso’s chicken, crab, unnamed pie and banana pudding. My wife: I’m barely full. Not as good as I was hoping. I don’t like Chinese buffet’s and this place did NOT change my mind. I had Mongolian grill, sweet and sour chicken and fried rice. The sweet and sour chicken was mostly breading. I don’t plan on going back.

Fair for buffet. Ice cream was good. Friendly staff. Coupon was accepted on Sunday. Mongolian was cooked well from friendly staff. Table was cleared off quickly. Drinks were always full. It’s still buffet so i wouldn’t bring a date here.

The food was typical chinese buffet food, but also have a sushi section and a Mongolian grill included which my wife loves. They also have an assortment of fruits and desserts. On the weekends they usually serve king crab but expect to pay a little more than during the week. Glad this place is here in Round Rock and I don’t have to drive to Austin for some good Chinese buffet.

What’s important at a buffet? Options, freshness, cleanliness. This place has all 3. We’ve been a few times and each time the food has been hot, there are a decent amount of options from veggies, to desserts, to meats, and«fast food» American fare like chicken nuggets. They also have ice cream, sushi(small rolls), and the made to order grill. Service is very quick. We’ve always had refills promptly, dishes removed quickly, and polite though sometimes misunderstood interactions. For the price, this place is great.

It’s interesting. It’s good. It does have LOTS of food choices, but its weird. It’s not your typical«chinese buffet» by any means. This is more of a hodge podge of a few of your faves, in once place. For me, I had more Mongolian than anything. Its got a good sushi bar, rolled right there by hand, it has a GREAT fruit selection, and a variety of cold«salads», but desserts could step up a little bit. We went on Fathers Day and I took full advantge of the steamed crab legs! They have oysters, squid, crawfish! They have traditional staples for the kids, chicken nuggets, pizzas, fries. things like that. So yeah. its very much worth a visit! Will I go back, absolutely!

Surly hostess Near mute wait staff Missing Mongolian BBQ cook Dirty table Worst Chinese food in decades Good thing I had a coupon. Will not be back, and will probably turn me off Buffet Chinese from now on.

I really love the décor here. Honestly, I probably won’t be back. I cannot deal with the demographic that loooooooves to done here. Loud unruly children at all hours of the day. Doesn’t matter when you come, someone will have annoying children that are NOT well behaved, some will be crying, others will be screaming and moms will be not allowing jello until their food is done. Eeextraaa screaming at this point. The first time I came some of the food tasted a little different. Since, it seems like a lot of the chicken and beef dishes taste the same. The big problem with that for me is that there is one specific flavor in all of them that I DONOT like. Also, my absolute favorite deep fried imitation crab goodness is no longer served :(only place I knew to get it, first place I ever tried it, and no idea where else to go to eat it. The very last time I was here, a customer had such bad body odor, I asked to be moved! And I don’t mind the normal body odor… But this instance almost made me lose my appetite, which is EXTREMELY hard to do. Eating huge portions of food is one of the things I enjoy most in the world. Seriously. I didn’t even get full on my last visit here because I just didn’t like the way anything tasted! Now this could be me, and I do have OK taste buds… At least everything was hot I got a very nice gift for New Years today. And that’s awesome! The customer service here is great and no matter what I see this place succeeding in its efforts as a Chinese buffet. It’s clean, most food is fresh, and service is good. Unfortunate for me, the good does not outweigh the bad. In conclusion, I feel a bit melancholy as I leave Ye Star for the last time, and no longer recommend it for anything above less than mediocre food.

It was the best of times… It was the worst of times… A tale of two reviews… When I Unilocal-check-ined at Round Rock’s new«Ye Star Buffet», my comment was«Ye Three Star Buffet». And as I sat with my lovely dining partner discussing how we would rate this place, I thought about the two angles I could go. Was there any food there that I needed to rush home and tell the wife about? Was there any groundbreaking dish that I just had to Instagram(oh, snap, I just used that as a verb) and put up for my Facebook friends to see? Nope. Did we find plenty of choices(including the seemingly unusual at a buffet Mongolian BBQ station), filled(and re-filled frequently) with innocuous(not great)(but not terrible) Chinese-ish dishes? Did we get our used plates picked up quickly, and our drinks refilled when we needed by charming young waitress«Judy»? Is it a clean and interestingly decorated place(I hear the restrooms look like a nightclub), where you can dine quickly if you need to, or chat with a friend for an extended time if you’d like without feeling rushed? Yes. Yes. And yes. There were all the requirements of a Chinese Buffet: the«sushi» sliced so thin you could practically see through it(see pic); the dish you know you probably shouldn’t bother with(the squid comes to mind); the sliced melon; the dessert cake with the oddly brightly colored gel coating; the sugar-covered fried refrigerator biscuit dough ball thing. It could use a little more logical organization(maybe it’s a plan to spread the seafood dishes around, but to me having similar dishes near each other would make more sense), and there is a lot of «fried» going on(my friend’s second plate could only be described as «50 Shades of Beige»). And I’m not sure why I’m allowed to serve myself crab legs, but can’t be trusted to dispense my own Dr. Pepper. But, for $ 11.99, even if you’re just having one Mongolian BBQ plate and a couple scoops of the above-average ice cream(my friend recommends the coffee flavor) for dessert, you end up OK. I was happy with the fried dumplings and other things I had, dipped into the requisite gloppy«sweet and sour».(But seriously, steer clear of the«sushi») Don’t expect the Bellagio Buffet at Mirage Buffet pricing, and you’ll be just fine. 3.07 stars.

We were looking for a place to eat when we chanced upon this buffet. It’s newly opened and you can tell because everything inside is still clean. Whereas the buffet way down south that we frequent already smells and feels greasy. The food is okay. Not amazing but good enough for the price. The Mongolian grill is pretty cool. They offer some standard sweet and savory sauces you can mix with whatever you pile in the bowl provided. Just remember to grab a number so your bowl doesnt get swiped by someone else. There were no crab legs in sight. Just steamed shrimp and some suspicious looking mussels. The real highlight for me was the labels posted right by the sneeze guard. I dont know if they were trying to be funny or ironic but its those generic name tags you see at conferences or kids birthday parties. I had to take pics! Overall it was a nice enough experience. The place was clean, servers were fast and the food didnt make me sick.
