Seemed to have very little seating, perhaps not meant to be eat-in. We tried only a few things and it was good. However, we thought we could get breakfast, but did not realize that it was the wrong day of the week, so we left unsatisfied. If in the area, may go back to try something else.

I would have never known about this delightful place if I hadn’t first had lunch at the Fickle Pickle. I parked my car next to the Sugar Shack in the Back and walked by it on my way to lunch, and I kept trying to look in the windows to see what exactly this shack was all about. After lunch, my friend and I were walking back to our cars and I asked her if she knew what this shack was and she proceeded to tell me that they have the best cupcakes. Not being even a little bit hungry after my huge lunch at the Fickle picks but my curiosity and sweet tooth winning out, my friend and I decided to stop in for dessert. I was amazed by the selection of fresh desserts. It was so hard to choose what to get, so I bought two things for my friend and I to share, and three more desserts for later! Everything I had was so fresh, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth good. Those behind the counter were kind and patient as I made the difficult decision of what to get. They were even so kind to offer to keep my box of treats in the refrigerated case while my friend and I ate our dessert in the shop. This may be the shack in the back, but it is certainly the main event.

Was in town and walked to the new Sugar Shack behind the old Fickle Pickle where I once ate. Carmen bakes all the food for the bakery and restaurant. I picked the Crème Brulee’ and Hazelnut Truffles and husband got the Candy Chocolate Chip Giant Cookie! It was all so sweet and so good! I will love to try this again whenever I’m back in the ‘hood.

We realized they had free coffee coupons when we were there. However, that was only valid with the purchase of an item. Every thing was sugary and heavy and I only wanted a coffee. We each ended up buying pastries at the end! Well, had too. The pastry was OK.

Update: Terrible idea that they’re closed on Sunday’s. What is it with all the Canton businesses closing early or on the worst days economically? Amazing chocolate babka, and Counter Culture Coffee, which is excellent. I’ll definitely make a point of stopping here for coffee when in the area, even though it’s tucked away. Loved it.

Lovely place. Always fresh. Their selections are always changing, which is great. It’s always a treat to visit after the fickle pickle.

Sugar shack in the back is a hidden gem right behind the fickle pickle. If you’re lucky enough to be served by Penny then you’re in for an even better treat! Penny was so friendly I almost felt like I knew her. She greeted all the customers with a warm smile and a «heyyyy» as if everyone was a friend she hadn’t seen in a long time. It was sweet. The selection at sugar shack seems to constantly change instead of a set menu so my wife was a little disappointed that they didn’t have an item she saw in a Unilocal photo and wanted to try. Nonetheless, they had lots of other treats to choose from: cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pies, ice cream, beignets, and beverages of the cold and hot variety. We ordered a «frosted» beignet, a red velvet cookie, a mini pumpkin pie with cinnamon whipped cream, a vanilla cupcake and thanks to our Unilocal check-in offer, two free 12oz cups of coffee. The day we visited was the first slightly chilly day of the Fall season so we were glad to be tucked inside the warm bakery with our sweets and hot coffee. The red velvet cake cookie– not a fan. It didn’t have very much flavor and it actually tasted kind of pasty and gummy. The cupcake — it was okay. The cake was a bit dense but overall it had a nice flavor. Nothing fancy, just a simple, old fashioned cupcake. The frosted beignet – I’ve never had a beignet that didn’t have a mountain of powdered sugar on top… or that wasn’t piping hot so I was a bit taken off guard. But, the taste was really good. It tasted like a Krispy Kreme donut with extra glaze. The pumpkin-pie– was definitely my favorite thing on the menu. The crust was very flaky and the filling and the cinnamon whip cream just felt so homemade, down home good! I told my wife that it made me feel like the holidays. I only wish that there was an option to reheat the pie, that would’ve made it perfect. I’m not 100% sure that they don’t have a microwave but since they didn’t offer to reheat it for me I’m assuming they don’t. Still, I really enjoyed my first sugar shack experience. I’m a fan!

4.7÷5 Only tried it once; had the salt caramel crème brullee. They were beyond polite with hospitality and it made my day really special aside from the delicious desert. I’ll be back to try their other items and then change this rating to a 5 if it’s as great as the first time.

I stopped by early one morning to pick up some pastries to go. They have a generous offer of a free coffee if you check in on Unilocal — so I did that. As for the pastries I got a cinnamon beignet, a carrot cake cookie and a coconut macaroon. The beignet was decent, not too greasy and good cinnamon flavor. The carrot cake cookie was okay — not too sweet — but kind of lacking anything that made it taste like a carrot cake. The macaroon was a bit too dry and the least impressive of the three. I didn’t try their breakfast sandos which seem to be popular and from the pics here on Unilocal look like they would be worth trying.

I am writing you in a time where I am desperate for more Sugar Shack. I am lying here awake pining away for it. I came here unsuspecting and unintentionally. You see, it was situational. There I was, minding my own business, in line at Fickle Pickle. Next to my girl ringing me up, I see this sneak preview stash of cookies. They all looked good, so I asked her which was her favorite. She said her real favorite was the cream cheese brownie. I said, «Where is this said cream cheese brownie?» That’s when she laid it on me… those words…“you need to go out back and check out the Sugar Shack.“ I scarfed down my sammie and wandered around back with my crew. I was in a sugar high of amazement from the moment I walked through those doors. I quickly realized that all the cookies could be made into ice cream sandwiches – holy smokes! I began staring at all the cookies and found myself wanting all of them. Be smarter than me. Get yourself more than one of these peanut butter cookie sandwiches! Otherwise, you’ll be like me taking one home and after taking that first bite of heaven, you will curse yourself for only having one! This thing is two perfect peanut butter cookies, with that dichotomy of homemade crispness but yet ultra soft, with creamy peanut butter sandwiched between. It totally got me. After having two of the girls that work there endorse the cream cheese brownie as the best, I also got one of those to go. I consider myself to be a brownie snob, so I went in with some skepticism. Well, I am clearly the jackass here. I will never doubt that brownie again. It was everything I always wanted in a brownie. So fudgie! But not Little Debbie style fudgie. Amazing fudgie! I want this every day of my life. Just do it. Just go there. You will never regret it. Roswell isn’t close for me. But I need more. My friend has a client there he has to see today. I had no shame in asking him to stop in and get me more. Whatever it takes to get more…

We came here for a Unilocal event last year and loved it so decided to try it out again. I recall everything being very tasty previously and my honey and I were looking to curb our dessert craving(the place we wanted to try had already closed for the night, too bad for them). It’s a fairly small shack as the name would suggest but big flavor inside! They have a really cool seating area outside too. It was packed with little kids wanting ice cream so thankfully we got what we wanted, which was the banana pudding. Was just as delicious as previously tested! We also had a cream cheese brownie which wasn’t as fluffy and moist as I had wanted but still good. I’d come back again but wish they had more pudding/muffin/pie options. A must try though!

Well I was pretty excited to check this place out on the rave reviews. It fits the bill, but it’s not really stellar in my mind. Stopped in right before close on a Sunday and between the two of us had two ice cream cones, a M and M cookie and a Red Velvet cookie, of most excitement prior to eating was the red velvet cookie. It was borderline stale and the icing wasn’t evenly placed on the top of it. The M and M cookie was great and the ice cream cones were good. I saw that they offer breakfast but the sandwiches look like they premake them? I also see that they make everything in house, but it was a let down to see them putting plastic wrap over the baked goods to be served the next day — I think that they should serve the next day those items at a discount in a discount section and have fresh baked every day to be a 4 — 5 star Sugar Shack, for this I have to land them at a 3 star and say, hey it’s ok, and maybe I’d come back, but it’s really not a stellar place for fresh baked goods.

The last time I was here, this building was event /overflow space for The Fickle Pickle. My sister did her baby shower here. Now it’s this great little bakery & coffee shop. Everything in the pastry cabinet is made in house, and the ice cream is sourced locally. Staff was very friendly.(And free wifi always makes me happy.) Indoor seating seems a bit limited, but the atmosphere in here is comforting, clean and inviting. There does seem to be plenty of outdoor seating, and I can see that filling up quickly if the weather is nice. I got here at 2pm on a Thursday, and there has been a steady stream of people trickling through the entire time. I like this place. I’ll definitely stop by whenever I’m in the area. Holler if you’re coming with.

This place was filled with tasty desserts and breakfast items. The coffee was delicious and one of the cups was free with a Unilocal check in. I don’t usually eat scones but the blueberry lemon one here caught my attention and it was pretty good. The bagel with egg and pimento cheese was really good in my opinion. It was a little funky to go from the bakery to fickle pickle(just because it was raining). The lady working the counter was super sweet. I would defieitinly come back here.

Since I was stuck in ridiculous traffic on my way home from work one morning, I decided to stop by the Sugar Shack in the Back. They open at 8 and with my theory of going to a place before they close to determine how they perform, the same can be said for when a place opens… will they be on top of their game or drop the ball. Well the ball didn’t drop and service was good, the cashier was very helpful and nice. The cases weren’t completely full so I ended up choosing from what they had out. I got a chocolate chip cookie, an M&M cookie, a brownie, and a snickerdoodle cookie. Their breakfast sandwiches sounded yummy when I looked over the menu but decided to get one another day. So I paid and was out the door to play in traffic again. Of course I waited to nom on my cookies since it was so early, so throughout the day I munched and chomped on my sweets. The first I was eager to try was the snickerdoodle, which was absolutely disappointing! It was hard as a rock and tasted like one as well, I couldn’t even finish it. I next ate the chocolate chip cookie and M&M cookie, which were soft and good… Thankfully it overshadowed the taste of that snickerdoodle. Lastly I had the brownie which was okay… I usually like my brownies fudgey-er. Overall service was good and parking was fine since I was the only person there at 8, but the lot is tiny and is shared with Fickle Pickle, but they have extra parking across the street. I’ll definitely be back to try other sweets but will tread lightly instead of going full steam ahead on sweets…

This is a small place associated with the Fickle Pickle with a counter in the back where you can purchase a variety of baked goods and get coffee or tea. I came here the other day for some coffee before getting lunch in the area. The best aspect of Sugar Shack in the Back is its setting. There is a really nice patio area where you can take your drink and baked goods and sit and have a really pleasant experience on a nice day. The patio is well shaded, with many trees around, and on a late Sunday morning when I went there were plenty of seats. Patrons of the Fickle Pickle will be mixed in here. The coffee and baked goods are also really good. The coffee I had was strong but not bitter and one of the better tasting coffees I’ve had from any local establishments around. They also have cappuccinos, espressos, and so on if you want something more fancy, and have tea as well. I had a pumpkin scone with my coffee that was also very good. Some scones I have had tend to be a little dry, but this one was moist and tasty, but maybe a little too sugary for my tastes because of the icing that was glazed on the top. This place is right in the Canton Street restaurant row district, so I recommend coming here before or after a meal at another restaurant for a relaxing setting, or it’s worthwhile to come here just for the coffee and baked goods.

A new gem has opened in historic Roswell! It’s behind Fickle Pickle and shares the same phone number, so don’t be confused but it’s it’s own thing definitely. They offer bakery goods with amazing items such as fried green tomato biscuits and pimento cheese bacon egg biscuits. They also have lots of traditional bakery goods such as turnovers, muffins, scones, and these awesome things called bagel bombs which are stuffed bagels. On the sweet side, they have Greenwood’s homemade ice cream, fresh baked cookies, and cakes. You can also make custom ice cream sandwiches with any ice cream or cookie on the menu. So awesome! This has become our new treat spot.
