It was fine. Nothing particularly wrong. I just expected more for the price. There are much better high end restaurants with similar food that make G&G seem lackluster at best. Sadly, I can’t thing of one thing that stood out as more than just average.

We went to dinner at Gene and Georgetti Rosemont Saturday night for my father’s birthday. We were seated immediately waitress came over for our drink order, but we asked for another minute to look over the drink menu/wine list. About 15 minutes later she came back. We got our wine and drink, no problem. We chose the fried calamari appetizer. It was not seasoned and came with a poor marinara sauce. We all ordered different entrees, they were all fine, but hardly what you would expect from a «expensive, well-known» restaurant. We ordered a dessert to share and let the waitress know that we were celebrating a birthday. She brought the dessert with a candle and scampered away as we started to sing. The bill came and we were overcharged for our bottle of wine. It was straightened out and we were on our way home after an overpriced, average dinner. If you are going to spend $ 150 a couple on a dinner, try another spot.

We have been here three times since this location opened and each time was great. The only issue I have is the portion of the salads compared to the Chicago location, I don’t mind paying $ 15.00 for an Italian salad but make it enough for two to share! Would recommend sitting at a bar table if you are looking for a casual setting, they have a bar menu as well as the regular menu. Looking forward to going back soon!

***Update*** Although I wasn’t pleased with my first visit here, I have to give credit where credit’s due. They contacted me in a timely fashion to make things right and sent me a $ 100 gift card along with a nice note. By far the best reaction from customer service I’ve ever had. Because of this alone I think they deserve 5 stars. They went above and beyond and that tells me they really want to strive to be great. Ready to give it another go. Thanks again G&G!!! P.S. The gift card was wrapped up super fancy. Made me feel they actually care!

Friday night and all was quite, strange, not the usual for such a big named great place. As the place was ours for a seat to pick we went to the back, and as several tables filled in it was not crowded or noisy but I can see how at full tilt this would be a loud place, but this is Chicago and this has much more room then their downtown location so it should not bother anyone who goes to the other spot or knows good restaurants are not a secret here. The food was great, just as was our first visit to the downtown stop over a year ago. They had some amazing choices on the lengthy menu, a nice thing to see in a place you already know you can get pasta but what else is there if you want to mix it up? Make room for big sides, lots of garlic, and slightly too much oil in the veggies(that in part is what cost them the 5th star but honestly it was not swimming –but it was too much) The cottage fries are a big hit here, but they sit in between scalloped and steak cut, so you have to be ready for something a little different. The chicken parm was terrific, the sauce is something you are going to ask for the recipe for sure. Yes its a mainstay @ Italian places, and so is a good red sauce, but pull off both, perfectly, leaving me wanting more, and its a great night. My wife had the filet and it was cooked EXACTLY as ordered, many places do not go to medium rare perfectly but if you want it as pink and cool beware that is exactly as you will get it. The asparagus, the mushrooms, finally garlic was just right(LOTS!!!) the lemon layer cake for dessert was light, and very tasty, really a nice soft ending to a heavy meal, but worth saving room for because how different and subtle it was. This is a must go, try, eat, drink and be happy, that is what Chicago night life offers, use it while your in town! (J– Nice Service Sir)

To determine where we would have our office Christmas dinner we picked up take out lunch in November and it was good. Our party of 8 went there Dec 5. Seating was cramped they were busy and it was reflected by the service. My wife asked for more bread as we waited for our appetizers and salad and that never came. it was a constant wait for water. Three rib eye dinners were ordered and two were tough we ordered another bottle of wine in mid dinner and it finally came when we were finished. When the dessert was being served one of the wait staff hit a drink glass from one of our diners broke the glass and cut the diner’s hand and spilled his drink on his shirt. They did bring a band aid but offered no comp. While we ate dessert we waited for a second cup of coffee which we had requested twice. I realize they have been in the Rosemont area only a short time but they had a good reputation in Chicago and did not live up to it.

Awesome Christmas dinner at this place with the family. There was 25 of us with a late reservation and they tended to us great all night. Food was delicious and drinks were perfectly made. Overall couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas dinner.

Where to begin our server Kelly was at best effective she gave us no clue that the ahi was served with potato and spinach in this heavy handed teriyaki yuk! My wife had the linguine and clams tough and very ordinary. The cheese cake that’s out of this world is really down to earth blah. I think you would do better a few blocks south.

Was excited to check out this restaurant at its new location. Our waitress Sue was great. Liked her a lot. Food was okay. I had high expectations. I had the strip steak and requests medium well, but it seemed to be well done. Kinda dry. Did not like the cottage fries at all. Too overcooked for my tastes. Really enjoyed the stuffed mushrooms, calamari, regular fries and tuxedo chocolate cheesecake I shared with friends.

This venerable Chicago name which has faded in it’s original location replaced the best restaurant in the northwest suburbs; Rosewood Restaurant a spot I had been to maybe 100 times. There is no comparison and I for one won’t be back. It is likely this will be a success purely because of the location and business travelers but the area has lost a gem. The food is subpar. I have never had pasta so overcooked. The manager insisted on bringing a new plate which was just as bad. My partner commented she would not serve the chicken in her salad to her dog being afraid he would break a tooth. Atmosphere still mostly Rosewood so its ok but the staff has turned from great to marginal and whats the deal with locking the parking lot door? One would think they are trying to force valet parking why else force a long cold Chicago walk to gain entry? We miss you Jimmy

Extremely disappointing! We went with friends for a special anniversary dinner for all of us. Made a reservation to celebrate our wedding anniversary(s). Went on Saturday(11/14/2015). Service was just OK! Meal was awful. Salad was just iceberg lettuce with one tiny tomato wedge. 3 of us had the steak-was just OK. One of our party had the shrimp de jonghe. She said it was absolutely awful. The potatoes were terrible. It appeared that several were spoiled(large black spot in the center of the potato) and pointed it out to our waiter. He said that he would consult with the chef but never responded relating to this issue-never even apologized. It appeared the he was rushing us toward the end. In short-terrible meal and mediocre service. Can’t imagine why on earth we would ever go back-cost us over $ 200.00 for terrible food. Recommending a positively –DONOTGOHERE 11/22/2015: Received an apology from management and a gift card for ½ of the amount spent. We may try again but will go at lunch time rather than dinner as we feel that no one could possibly mess up a lunch. We’ll post again with results.

Let me start by saying I really wanted to like this place. I have been wanting to visit their downtown location for years, but it just never made it to the top of my list. I as excited to take some clients that were in from out of town to check out this great new location. We had a party of six and were there to spend some money and have a nice evening. The ambiance was nice, the conversation was great, just struggled with the food and the service. As for the food, we started with the seafood tower at around $ 70. It was probably the best part of the dinner, but still underwhelming. There were some nice quality shrimp, crab claws, oysters and mussels. The oysters and mussels weren’t very fresh, which was a disappointment. Our waiter had no idea how to pronounce the names of the two oyster varieties on the menu for the evening, but said they were good. Okay, really? He had no wine knowledge or food knowledge and wasn’t very presentable. My company at dinner mentioned the poor service multi-times, which was disappointing. The water didn’t come around for drink orders, didn’t pick up the old glasses when serving a new one, served our meals to the wrong people etc. Honestly, one of the worst waiter experiences I have ever had. As for the steaks, I had the bone-in filet along with another gentleman from our party. A couple of the other people had ribeye steaks. First, I was served a medium well done steak, when I ordered a medium rare steak. My colleague who also got the bone-in filet got is very rare, when he ordered medium. We both looked at each other and just switched steaks, because we really didn’t want to complain or deal with the waiter any further. So I ate the very rare steak while my colleague ate a well done steak. As for the quality of the steak, good but not great, and cooked awfully! Burned on the outside and total raw and cold in the middle. No seasoning on the steak at all, very little flavor. The cottage fries were good, but it’s just fried potatoes with salt, not that exciting. I was so excited to visit here, but was very disappointed! I will never recommend this place, and won’t be back unless invited, but never by choice. Way too many great steakhouses in Chicago and the Rosemont area.

OK, so we’ve all been to G&G downtown and living in the burbs, I decided it was time to give Rosemont a try after being open for several months. I admit, I realized going in that the the environment and location were vastly different from what I have become very fondly of downtown and was open minded given that getting to G&G from Arlington Heights is way better if a commute down the Kennedy is not required. While I was rooting for them all the way as I invited a client to join me, we encountered what I have never experienced in the other location. How can you not cook a steak right the 1st time when this is your core business but moreover, you need a total of(2) attempts to cook a Filet to medium temperature? The 1st was way well done, the 2nd, well, pretty much rare. Come on, this is just the basics. We all make mistakes but the fact that our server was not even aware, nor did the manager come out and at least acknowledge the issue was embarrassing. I don’t make plays for free food, credits on the bill or free drinks for a missed temperature on a steak but it bothered me that no one seemed to really care. I could be partial to the other location, but come on, the guys downtown have a sense of pride and history and Rosemont seems to only offer workers who don’t really care or understand the history and lineage here with this brand? Someone needs to do some cross training between the two locations if they are going to get the same level of excellent service and care across this new location in Rosement. I’m trying to be fair here and really am defending my favorite Chicago Steakhouse and haunt but maybe the tourist and business traffic in Rosemont doesn’t demand the same type of services as the client may be more of a 1-time patron?

Not all that impressed. We went on Thursday for date night. First off, the bar is very generically designed and felt cold and not very intimate. Call me crazy, but I think black granite bar tops remind me of the breakfast bar at the Holiday Inn. The bartender made the worst Manhattan I ever tasted– watery and in a tall soda glass. We has shrimp cocktail at the bar and it looks like something weird uncle joe would put together in the kitchen; 4 shrimp on a plate for $ 17. Feel free to pass on this. Filet and strip for dinner were perfectly cooked, but tasted bland and lacked seasoning. We ordered a bottle of wine that was refrigerator cold, so we corked and took it home with us to warm up. Service was good(thanks Francine). For my money, I’d go to Gibsons, Hugo’s or the Capital Grill before I’d return.

First time at Gene & Georgetti’s Lunch for 3 We ate family style. + Great service! A++++++ Water filled ASAP, waiter refolds napkin if you leave the table, proper utensils provided for different types of dishes, waiter answered all questions we had about dishes, waiter also explained to us about history of restaurant and how they cook their food + Delicious food: Perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked + Good portions + Free on-site parking but valet parking also available + Nice ambiance. Dark wood, dim lighting, wine displayed on walls, waiters in white uniforms: This is your old school Chicago steakhouse ambiance. + Clean dining area, clean bathrooms Cost: Not as expensive as I was expecting.(Note: We went for lunch. Dinner may be more expensive.) Grilled calamari — $ 15.75 Filet medallions(2) with peppercorn sauce — $ 24.25 Linguini mussels marinara — $ 15.75 Tiramisu — $ 8.25 Coffee — $ 3 Complimentary fried potatoes Water Total = $ 67 Tax = $ 6.85 Tip = $ 15 Grand Total = $ 88.85

I have heard many great things about the location in the city. With this new location in rosemont it makes it alot more convenient to get to to try this place. The entrance is very banquet hall-esque. Like somewhere someone might have a wedding or something. Came in got seated right away. The place is pretty big, dark wooden themed, with a hotel bar/restaurant vibe. Got the bone in ribeye medium rare, my unusual. I was warned that they do not season their meats, I should have taken that more seriously because they were right. The steak was cooked perfectly, but was was nothing special. Very bland, little flavor, they said it was wet aged but idk. The house fries that came with our steaks was just like the steaks not seasoned at all, and it was hard/burnt. We also got a order of vesuvius potatoes which was the saving grace but at that point we were potatoed out. Overall the service is great here but unseasoned food will keep them a step behind others in flavor. I heard the homey family atmosphere the city restaurant has, is lost in this new location. I must agree with other reviewers it’s a lackluster ecperience, and alot of better options for a steak in rosemont!

The scale of this place still has me thinking«banquet hall» but once you actually get in the restaurant and bar area, it fares a little bit better. Went here for dinner a couple of times now since it opened and I think they are still working out some of their«new place» woes, thus the average rating. First the good. The bartender pours a mean martini! Both times I came here were on weeknights when there must have been conventions as the nearby Rosemont convention center as the place was pretty busy and business people filled the bar. The problems started when we were shown to our seat in the restaurant. First we tried to order a bottle of wine. Suddenly there was a problem as the wine we wanted was«locked up» and the person who had the key was not in the restaurant. Really? How does this happen? So we debated what we were going to do(more martinis?, bar wine, etc). I actually felt sorry for the server as she was clearly new and had no idea how to deal with the fact she couldn’t get us what we wanted. The manager came by finally and did say that they had found the key and we could get our wine, but lots of drama(and who needs that when dining out?). The second problem occurred when my friend ordered his steak well done. The server said it wasn’t going to be a problem, but when my strip steak came out perfectly prepared(med rare) as my friend cut into his I could already see we were going to have a problem as his was less done than mine. Our server took the one steak back but by the time it came back out(20 minutes or so) I had finished my steak, half of the potatoes and he had drank most of the wine. I really feel that both steaks should have been removed and re presented at the table together. And as for dessert? Well we thought about getting it even though we had already been sitting for quite a while, but our server went MIA on us. We finally flagged a different server down, got our bill and left. But I must say, the food, when it came out the right way was quite good. Flavorful steaks, good potato, a chopped salad that they split for us up front. All delicious. And on my second visit– the opposite thing happened, my steak was way overdone and needed to go back. Clearly the kitchen needs a lesson in doneness! At least this time they took both plates so we could eat together. And with all the competition in the area for good steaks, this place needs to get it together especially given they are less convenient to the hotels and convention center than Gibson’s, and the Capital Grille. I think they have the ability to pull this off, at least as evidenced by their Chicago location. This place just needs a little more time to get it right.

Service 5 stars. Steak fucking ruined. We always order the porterhouse and split. Told our waiter we wanted the steak medium and he said that is pink in the middle we said that’s perfect. The steak was well done. The manager said well let me get you a round of drinks and desert. Thanks but no thanks then he said I can offer you a 50 $ gift card. Thanks but no thanks. Finally he said he would take the steak off the bill. We will never be back. There are many steak houses In Rosemont that won’t ruin your steak.

I was excited to try this new location so close to home, never having been to the original G&Gs in the city, but have say it was a lackluster experience. At 7:30 on a beautiful Friday night it was moderately busy and the place itself is beautiful. Our cocktails were good and we were seated promptly at a booth, as was our request. Our server, a younger female was ok, not outstanding, but she kept checking in with us. We started with the grilled calamari — normally one of our favorite apps — it came tossed in some type of BBQ-like sauce that did nothing to enhance it, it actually detracted from the dish. We left ¾s of it untouched. When the server asked how we liked it, we honestly expressed our disappointment. She simply said that was how they made it there. We let them take it away.(My husband said a good server would have offered to take it off the bill, or at least informed the manager of our comment, neither happened.) The bread basket contained a few slices of very ordinary french bread and the most tasteless breadsticks we’ve ever had. We didn’t waste much room on that. The dinners came with a house salad, a sad bit of iceberg lettuce and a single tomato wedge, along with cottage fries which were barely hot and relatively flavorless. On the positive side, my filet and my husband’s veal chop were both very good and cooked perfectly. Sadly, not enough of a reason to recommend G&Gs when there are so many other good steakhouses in Rosemont i.e. The Capital Grille(always outstanding!), Gibson’s, Morton’s & Hugo’s Frog Bar in the casino. It was my first and last visit and I now understand why my husband was not a fan of the downtown location either.
