Service @ Smokey Bones, Louis was our server a solid 5 stars ! Food for me, eh, maybe 2… I’m not a smokey flavored BBQ kinda girl. If I’m gonna eat ribs, Spare Rib is my place! App, wings, very good. Chipotle honey & honey sweet BBQ. I wished I ordered more wings for my entrée . The rest, pulled pork, St Louis ribs, mashed & corn were OK. My husband can have my leftovers. He enjoyed his meal & so did the other adults at the table. Kiddies had pretzel grilled cheese, pretty good & basic chicken fingers. Broccoli was way too overlooked and I didn’t try the fries. For dessert, chocolate cake(I took one bite) and donuts. Who doesn’t like a donut? My belly aches after… lol SO would I return for the food? Maybe, just for wings and for Louis as the server. Sorry Smokey Bones, I’m just not into you

After a long day at Splish-Splash, we decided to stop here. It was our first time at this particular Smokey Bones location and all I have to say is wow! Our server Toni was amazing! Even though it was busy and she was joggling at least 3 other tables she managed to make our dining experience great! She was also extremely knowledgeable about the menu. I wish more servers were as on point and friendly as she was. The food was also on point. We ordered the smoked wings and corn bread as an appetizer. The smoked wings were a lil’ salty but good nonetheless, the corn bread with the honey-walnut butter was crack! For our main course, I picked the triple combo with sausage, pulled pork, and baby back ribs and the man had the salmon. We then got a bag of donuts to go as dessert. Everything was deeeeellliiisshh! This place is great especially if u have a thing for BBQ, wings, burgers, and beer. Keep in mind, this is a chain just like TGI Fridays and Applebees, but in my opinion WAAAYYBETTER! They always have specials at the bar and the prices are pretty reasonable. We’ll definitely be back.

My wife and I, along with my parents, happened on this place a week or so ago as we were driving around Long Island. Being familiar with the chain, we stopped in for dinner. It was quite busy when we arrived, so we had to sit at the bar. This was OK, as the three bartenders were quite attentive to us throughout our meal. All four of us ordered a variety of different entrées, as well as a drink or two from the bar. Interestingly, there wasn’t a great deal of consistency in the drinks between bartenders, even though we ordered roughly the same drink. Anyway, the food was as we expected. It was good barbecue, so nothing to complain about on that front. It was exactly what we came in for and hoped to get.

People just love to complain! Well Im sick of it!!! I have been going to the Bones in Ronkonkoma for years now. I have recommended Bones to countless people that always come back with a great report of their experience!!! From the always accommodating management team to the awesome bartenders this place is top notch for what it is. It blows away Applebees, Fridays, Outback, and the Red Lobster in front of it. Give it a try… you won’t be disappointed

I am a lover of BBQ joints, and this place had the vibe for it. My sister heard about it and wanted to go. We went and then it began: We ordered lemonade we got iced tea instead. We brought it to our servers attn. She brought the correct drinks. She didn’t charge us for it. Food: My sis n I ordered wings. First they were so salty and they were burnt. I didn’t want to be a nuisance so we didn’t send them back. our entrée dishes were both drenched in salt. I had to send back mine . They took it off the bill, and by this time I didn’t want anything else to eat., but they insisted so I got the broccoli and cheddar soup cup… they brought the bowl size and charged for the cup sized… Lol I’m sorry but it seemed like canned cheese with chopped up broccoli. Service: Our server was decent though. However the bartender at the bar complaining to guests how terrible the place is– I felt as if I was on an episode of bar rescue. Sorry but the jury is in– Not a returning customer !!

Seriously not a good place to go. Food is bleh, service is eh and ambience is meh. Only reason why I didn’t give Smokey a 1 star is because they offer hot n fresh doughnuts. Only reason I would go back. If they ever take this off then that’ll be the end of my return.

I’m surprised Smokey Bones currently has as low of a rating as it does(although it seems many Unilocal reviews above me note the same curiosity). Coming with a group annually for the past three years, I must say I am continuously impressed by the fabulous service. We’ve come here for three years in a row as we all stay at the Mariott next door, and we have reserved a spot in the back of Smokey Bones each time. My group can drink and the waitresses keep up — and with a smile and an eager to serve attitude! It’s so pleasant to feel welcomed into the restaurant and to never have to worry about an empty glass. The chicken fingers and hot pretzels with queso are just a bonus to the great service at Smokey Bones!

The wings, burgers and drinks are great. Service sucks big time though. The girl bartender has less personality than my pinky toe. Whoever takes the phone orders hangs up on people.

Service was just fine, good in fact, in spite of other reviews to the contrary. BBQ is salty and cloyingly sweet. I had the combo with St Louis ribs and ¼ chicken. Chicken was cooked right at one point in the day, but had clearly been sitting in a holding tray for some time as one side(assume it was the down side in the warming pan) was dry and tough. The ribs were kind of anemic for St Louis ribs which are supposed to be larger than baby backs but looked just as small as baby backs. I got the dry rub and expected my ribs to not have sauce on them but they did anyway. And it was waaaay salty and waaaay sweet. The baked beans that accompanied the dish were too sweet to finish. This is why America is obese and diabetic. Salt, fat and sugar basically. You can do better.

Food is your basic BBQ. They have ribs, chicken, apps, and fish, not anything extravagant. Prices are just right and the service, well, the service could use a little more work. Even the front end manager needs a little more work on service. They do offer a military discount, so that is a bonus. I would not make this a regular place I would attend, maybe one in a while.

I’m really surprised this place has a 2 ½-star average. I go there a lot, mostly because they’re open until 2am. It’s one of the few places you go go to eat late at night other than a diner. They have good food, and they’re consistent with it, which is important. I think I know what contributed to the lackluster rating, though: the service. It’s really hit or miss at this place. Some of the servers are great; a couple are top notch. Then you have some mediocre-to-poor servers. The main problem seems to be understaffing. They’re open until 2am –the restaurant, not just the bar– but sometimes they’ll have one server running around or none at all(the bartender will have to pick up the slack). Overall, it’s a good place to go, especially if you’re sick of the usual casual chain restaurants. I really don’t think the average rating accurately reflects the restaurant. I’ve been there a couple dozen times, so I have a lot of experiences to base my rating on.

Slow, innatentive service and small portions for a lot of money. 112.60 for a family of four(not including tax and tip, and 2 of us drank water) and we were all still hungry when we left(except for my daughter, who ordered a hamburger and she was sick for the rest of the evening.) The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy but after a long wait the waitress came by to apologize that the kitchen was backed up and asked if we wanted to order appetizers because it would still be a while. Not free appetizer mind you but for cash money. Avoid.

Smoky wings were a hit, meaty and great taste. Took 10 minutes to see a waitress, when we did she seemed frazzled. We ordered. Wings deliver ed by someone else, no plates and no waitress on sight, went to find someone and get plates. Big party left, waited too long. Waitress came out and said kitchen backed up and they were short staffed it would be 5 – 6 minutes til we got our food. She came back in 6 minutes and told us there was no more brisket, plate is made just need to pick another side. POORMANAGEMENT. Cannot see how they will stay in business with no food and management

I do not understand such low reviews. We have been here a few times and have very good experience’s. All of our servers were very pleasant and helpful. The Ribs are very good as are the steaks and burgers. The prices are reasonable. We have always enjoyed our meals and will definitely go back.

Simply said, you probably shouldn’t come here with high expectations. That really goes without saying, but the place also has some redeeming value. Obviously the food is just chain-quality material, the fried pickles are good, the buffalo chicken dip not so good, disappointing actually. Beer selection is really good, lots on draft, good prices also. They do have these screens at the tables that you can use to order apps, re-order your drinks, call your waitress, and pay your bill. Didn’t try it, since our waitress was very attentive, but I thought it was pretty cool. Bottom line, you get what you pay for and what you should expect.

Pumpkin cider sangria! This review could really stop there; however, I think the bartenders earned recognition as well. We stopped in on a Tuesday evening around 6:30pm. We were able to squeeze two seats at the bar. Now that I think of it the restaurant is quite a large space but was definitely lacking bodies to fill the space. The bar area was packed though. To me it seemed like a bunch of locals from the area. We both ordered the pumpkin cider sangria which was absolutely delicious. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. The only reason we didn’t stay longer is because I had a train to catch back to Brooklyn. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to try any of the BBQ; however, the burgers the guys around me had looked very appetizing. I’d definitely return to check out some of their food and more of their speciality cocktails.

So my friends wanted BBQ so we decided to come here. They had been here once before and enjoyed the food and the service. Tonight however the service was sub-par. Our waitress was very difficult to find and kept herself scarce. We finally had to ask another server to seek out our server so we could get refills on our drinks. The fried pickles were good and served timely. The baby back rib combo with beef brisket was a solid 3 out of 5 starts. Flavor was good, the brisket was slightly over cooked and tough. There was one waiter near our section who seemed on top of things and his customers seemed happy. We wished we were in his section. Of and no «bears» are allowed in the men’s it ladies room. Who are we supposed to pee?

This place is a mediocre bbq chain with a great location off the LIE. We have been here several times now and it just seems to get worse. The service is poor. Whether you are sitting in the bar area or at a table, be prepared to hunt down your server. This especially got frustrating on our last visit when my dad ordered endless wings. Avoid the Buffalo Chicken Dip appetizer. The pieces of chicken were too big to fit on a chip and the cheese was too thick. This appetizer was really alkward to eat as a dip. The pulled chicken salad was tasty but the bacon ranch dressing is watered down. Consider getting this salad with a different dressing. The loaded bbq burger is more exciting on the menu description than when it comes to your table. It was dry and overcooked. Luckily there was quite the selection of bbq sauces on the table to salvage this meal. If you do decide to venture here, be sure to check the coupon inserts in your paper. They often have coupons for $ 10 off in there. They also email you a $ 10 off coupon for signing up for their eclub. It’s really not worth the stop here if you are going to pay full price.

Really, I think this place gets worse every time we come. Why do we keep coming? Well, that’s a really good question. Maybe I just want to believe in something, you know? I just want to belieeeve that those killer ribs I had that one time 7 years ago that fell off the bone and melted in my mouth were not a figment of my imagination. Maybe I want to believe that those pillowy soft, fluffy, cinnamon sugar donuts that tumbled steaming hot out of the brown paper sack and onto my plate that time we visited a Smokey Bones in Tampa will be in my mouth again one day. Maybe, just maybe I want to believe that the service is not as horrendously shitty here as it actually is cuz this place is so close to my house and my kid loves it and its BBQ, man. Come ON, Smokey Bones! Pull it together! Unfortunately, I don’t think they are going to be pulling it together any time soon and if they do, I probably won’t be hanging around to find out. They have gone downhill in such a major way it’s embarrassing. On our last visit alone, our waitress who was sweet, but absolutely terrible at her job, was basically MIA the entire time. She had 3 tables and every time she appeared, she was running and rushing as if she was in the weeds. Everything took forever and when the food finally did come out, the plates were so hot(including the one she sat in front of my 4 year old) that it was literally a hazard… anyone who has ever been in a restaurant kitchen knows that meant they had been sitting in the window for ages waiting for somebody to run them. And if the scorching hot plates weren’t a giveaway, the dried up, old, NOTGOOD brisket on my baked potato was a sure sign of food that went to heat lamp hell. The cheese dip that came with our«pretzel bones»(which had the consistency of chewy, microwaved bread… because that is what they were. Microwaved. Gross.) was literally separated in the dish. Oily glop and un-stirred cheese product. Where is QC? I’m sure Smokey Bones will survive, if for no reason other than its location; sharing a parking lot with an extended stay hotel(and therefor out-of-towners who will find it easy to walk over and have a «nice» sit down meal instead of ordering a pizza to their room) and with a Red Lobster — which is another tragedy in and of itself, isn’t it? But that is a horror story for another review. The bottom line is that it’s just really terrible. All of it. The food, the service, the whole experience. If you’ve got a hankering for mediocre chain BBQ, just do yourself a favor and find someplace else because this won’t even satisfy your craving, it will just make you leave pissed off. How’s that for something to believe in?

Ordered the Baked Potato with pulled pork and a side Caesar salad, very good perfect amount of each for a satisfying meal. The potato was loaded with cheddar and BBQ sauce. Service was alright could be better and the food took a little long for us being one of the four tables in the empty restaurant. They have bar specials on beer but ran out of the beer on special… All in all I will be back

Mediocre. I should have checked the reviews before I came. I ordered the«build your own mac & cheese» which sounds like a GENIUS idea. I got pulled chicken with sun-dried tomatoes, peppers & onions and a goat cheese melter. It was disappointing. On top of that my stomach KILLEDME for the rest of the night. We were a group of 8 and our food came out all at different times, things were missing, combinations were wrong. Stay away. Or just go to Red Lobster right next door. I would rather eat their biscuits and over cooked frozen seafood.

I’ve been coming here for about two years, so it’s about time I write a review. First, the food: AWESOME. The menu offers an endless array of entrées to satisfy anyone’s munchies! The core menu consists of bold, smoked, and fire grilled flavors. While many people like their ribs, we love the burgers and smoked wings. For vegetarians like my girlfriend, the smoked salmon with the citrus butter is to die for. The drinks they have on tap are plentiful and they seem to have a new locally crafted beer every time we visit. Prices are very fair and we often find coupons in the Sunday paper. Second, the atmosphere: energetic. Smokey Bones has more of a bar feel and look. The place is full of large flatscreen TVs and upbeat, loud, music. Third, the service: exceptional. As I said earlier, I have been coming here for a while and the service and meal quality is consistent. We had Taylor and Corrine a few times and they are hands down the best servers. Smokey Bones is a favorite on my list. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone who likes a good time!
