Service was painfully slow. Food was decent but we wouldn’t come back. Took 15 minutes just to get the check!

This chain steakhouse is located about a quarter mile off of HWY64. If you are coming from HWY64 it will be on your left and is co-located with a hotel. There were quite a few cars in the lot so I was surprised not to find that many people in the restaurant. The bar area, however, did have a number of people in it. It would note that the bar area is visible from the main seating area but has a glass wall in-between which reduced bar noise. Speaking of the bar area, the beer selection is not what you would expect from reading the menu. The menu boasts craft beers and local beers. I only noticed one NC beer, out of over 130, and the craft beers were really smaller national beers. So, don’t expect a unique brew here. The wine list was equally unexciting. The waitress was very prompt and pleasant. Warm bread and my drink were on the table within just a minute or two. The salad that came with the meal was equally prompt. I didn’t want a lot of dressing on the salad and was pleased that they served it on the side. Also, nice was the fact that they had both fresh black pepper and sea salt on the table. Kudos. The salad, was very plentiful and crisp. So large, in fact, that I started to think that my eyes may have been bigger than my stomach. When I was about a third complete with my salad the waitress asked if I was ready for my steak and said that it was almost done. Humm, had the promptness backfired? I immediately started to worry that my medium rare steak would arrive medium or worse. My fear was founded. The steak arrived medium well. The waitress was very pleasant and accommodating when I requested a replacement. Steak number two came out medium. I think that part of the problem is that the small rib eye is so thin that you have to really be on your A game to cook one medium rare. Lesson learned. If you want a small piece of steak you may want to try the fillet which should be thicker than the rib eye. Although somewhat overcooked, the steak did have a good flavor, and with the help of a bit of sea salt hit the spot. Remember that large salad? Because of that I only had one bite of my baked potato so that I could report that it was cooked very well, then I had the rest boxed to go. Overall, very good service. Eh on the food.

Deserves a 4 or 5 because of the service. My husband liked his ribs, my salmon was good, but not flavorful at all. It in total it was convient and was okay. Service was the best part for sure.

This is my second time staying at this Doubletree Hotel that happens to house this awful restaurant. I decided to give it a second try because my first time was three years ago and I assumed it had improved. Contrary, to my wishes, it has not. Hubby and I had a voucher for $ 20.00 to spend her for breakfast. The place was sort of busy but the wait could not be justified. It took 45 mins for a overcooked rubbery steak and under seasoned eggs to come out. They even messed up the toast by slathering it in butter. Who messes up toast?!? Hubby’s omelet was deformed and turned out as simply a fried egg. The server was disappointed that I asked for A1 steak sauce. I just sort of ate half of the steak and we left…

Typical chain restaurant fare. Not bad, Not great. Service is usually pretty good. The best word to describe this place is «Typical.»

Not very good. The server was nice and attentive, but the food was awful and overpriced. It was salty and over cooked. The lunch order took about 45 minutes to get to us, but looked and tasted as if it had been under a heat lamp for awhile. Steak tenderloins were dry. Would avoid this place.

I can’t say enough about the quality of service here; it was outstanding, the food on the other hand, less so. Attached to the DoubleTree it is the most convenient place to have a meal when you’re tired from road tripping and trying to catch a basketball game, so in we went. There was a decent crowd as the hotel was full, despite that, we were immediately seated and given menus. The host was most friendly and professional, it wasn’t long before our waiter appeared to take our orders, wasn’t quite ready yet but ordered a margarita which was a decent pour upgraded to Jose Gold. Ready to order by the time our waiter returned, I had the«fish and chips» which consisted of a few pieces of hard fried cod and some frozen like thin fries with tartar sauce on the side, my co~diner had some sort of steak which I observed the fat being cut from, it was said it taste okay. We looked up from our meals to see the Manager standing there peering at us as we peered at one another, lol… he was there to «check» on us, very friendly and attentive, the staff is. The food; however, wasn’t that great, next visit I’d probably venture out elsewhere, the hotel offers a coupon for a free breakfast here up to $ 10, I did not take advantage of the deal so i’m not sure if breakfast could have brought forth a better dining experience.

Went here for lunch on a Thursday a little before noon. I was immediately seated and the server greeted me and took my order quickly. Noticed several tables of business persons around me having lunch. Ordered a 9 oz ribeye with sides of mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Order was ready with minimal wait time. Enjoyed the flavor of all three items. Steak was cooked as requested. Only negative was the server did not check on me until I was done with the meal. I nursed my glass of sweet tea to last the entire meal, and then after I am done she finally brought me a refill.

My steak meal came with two sides. One was the salad as not included in the meal. Disappointed as steak, salad, bread and two sides have always been the norm.

I had never heard of this place before, but I was able to discover it is a chain since I saw several other locations as I was driving around the Raleigh area. It is not all that much different than any of the other similarly themed chain steak houses in it’s conception, like Texas Roadhouse, Longhorn, Outback, etc. only this one is a significant step back from even these places. Ruth Chris or Capital Grille this place most certainly is not. First time Unilocal check in’s do receive a free onion petal appetizer, which again, is something all the other chains make in one form or another. This one was worth every penny of the free price point, as it was fairly devoid of any discernible flavor. The strip I had was just average, and was over seasoned with some type of salt or rub. I damn near had to commit a sacrilege and break out the steak sauce to drown out the salty taste of the meat. My veg medley was overcooked to the point of mush consistency. The one bright spot was the service. Our waiter was fantastic and attentive, but he deserves a far better kitchen staff to take his back. I was REALLY hungry from traveling all morning that I pretty much just picked out the closest restaurant that was not fast food and stopped in. I wish I had practiced more due diligence, as it seems my fellow Unilocalers share my view on this place, so I guess I have no one to blame but myself. If you ware really wanting a good steak, there are vastly superior places out there with as good or better prices.

Wow what a disappointment. The food was awful, service was okay, but bottom line is stay clear from this place. Outback is in same parking lot, and much better.

If I could rate this a negative star I would. We were some weary travelers looking for a hot meal to break up our trip. We came in on a Sunday night with the place mostly empty. I should have known we were in for a ride when the waitress seats us and hands my 6 and a half year old some crayons and the plastic placemats you use for small babies in high chairs, which you cannot color on. And no silverware. We waited a little too long for the server to come over to take our drink order. A forgivable offense I felt. She was genuinely nice, although not a genuine waitress. After our drinks arrived we ordered the 2 for 22 and a kids meal. More waiting. And then some warm bread with some ridiculously hot plates. I found myself wondering how some plates could possibly be so hot and 1. Did not come directly out of the industrial strength dishwasher. 2. Come out of the depths of a volcano. Then our margarita that we didn’t order arrives. Oh wait it’s the queso in a margarita glass. Which was pretty tasteless and I was trying to decide if the queso dip from tostitos tastes better than that.(After a quick debate my husband and I decided the tostitos in the jar tastes better) the salads come out… And the food runner had her thumb in salad, as a former food runner and waitress, I learned that you never stick your thumb in people’s food you are carrying. That didn’t deter these hungry travelers though! Onward towards some steak! Or more 20 or so minutes of trying to keep the kid occupied and running out of things to talk about with my husband still waiting for steak. I noticed a larger party complaining about not getting parts of their meal and realized we might be following suit soon. Our drinks were getting thin and I was wondering what our waitress was up to. Finally our steaks arrive! On those molten hot plates again. Now, let me get one thing straight. I’ve worked in my fair share of restaurants and I’ve let some food sit under a heat lamp before. But this was completely insane of how hot these plates were and I knew they had been sitting in the window for quite some time. Ok let’s get down to business with the actual meal. The steak. I am going to post a picture of my steak and my husbands steak. We ordered the same exact steak cooked the same exact way. They look completely different. My husband ordered his steak without seasoning. Request denied. I will say, the one thing I did enjoy was the asparagus. It was cooked perfectly much to my surprise. The Mac and cheese was ok. So about an hour of being there, steaks cooked wrong, and listening to our waitress chatting it up with another customer with for nearly 20 mins, we decided to hail the manager. She took one look at our steaks and sincerely apologized for the way they were cooked and the lack of service we received. We received our meal for free,(which was a first for us as we really don’t like to complain, even though this post was a little ranty) we left so disgusted with the service and food, we advised some people arriving in the parking lot to go to outback. And I urge all others to do the same! This place will surely close if serious changes are not made.

Slow service. Cold food. No flavor. They say everything is «Bigger in Texas.» I guess that includes the screw ups as well. My coworker and I stayed at the adjacent Double Tree. Our first night in, we wanted to grab something pretty quick so we could go out and run a couple errands before turning in for the night. Texas was attached to our hotel and we had a 10% off coupon so we though… ehhh… why not?! We walked into the dark restaurant and looked around for anyone who would seat us. We ended up walking to the bar where we were handed a couple menus and told to seat ourselves. We eventually were served water and we placed our orders. I ordered a burger off the menu. Medium. And a side of fries. My coworker ordered the fish tacos. Then we waited. And waited. And waited… and… waited. 45 minutes went past and we didn’t have our food yet. This wait time was frankly appalling. We were the only patrons in the restaurant apart from 2 people sitting at the bar. There wasn’t a server or manager in site for the majority of the wait. We even contemplated walking out and heading to the Outback Steakhouse in the same parking lot. We didn’t. And thank god because the food finally got there. And it was horrendous. Remember when I said I ordered the burger medium? It was well done to the point that it was dry and tasted like cardboard. My fries and my burger both came out sad and cold. My coworker’s fish tacos weren’t any better. We quickly paid and got the hell out of there. For better options, look to the Outback Steakhouse, even the hole in the wall Mexican place down the road.

Solid meal with excellent service. The portions were good and our server kept our drinks filled. If you have a chance their ranch dressing is very good — not just for your salad but your steak(if you don’t find it a sin to dip your steak).
