The Barrington Apartments

Living at the Barrington Apartments has been the worst experience that I have ever experienced in my history of renting. Even an old property manager explained to me that Morgan communities classifies this property as a «C» property based on its rundown condition. That in itself should be a clear indication of how bad this apartment is.
Expect to lose money living here! Its inevitable.
To begin, do not expect for your residential management to stick around long. They run through managers very quick. Since I’ve been renting (1 year) there have been three different property managers.
Before we talk about how this management attrition let me review what I have experienced at the Barrington Apartments.
1. I moved into a studio apartment, which I was told would be a temporary move until the 1 bedroom that I wanted to move into was vacated. However, the apartment as promised never was vacated and my studio was rented to another renter. This forced me into a 1 bedroom on the fourth floor, with less amenities than the one originally promised
2. I was promised that this transfer of apartments would not affect the timing of my lease. However, as the last property manager vacated, they let me know that the way they had filed the paperwork would cause me to owe an additional months rent. This means that I will now owe on an apartment that I hate for a month, when I will not even be living there.
3. When they say heat is included, what they mean is that heat is included when they want it to be. There were many times that my apartment was freezing in the winter, causing me to become very sick.
4. Something was decomposing in an apartment all summer last summer. The apartment staff took months to solve this problem. The smell, not exagerating, smelled like decomposing meat. I requested a solution to this problem many times. However, nothing was done.
5. My tub repeatedly backed up 6 times. I submitted 6 different requests and the problem was never solved.
6. The washing machine malfunctioned and ruined over $ 200 worth of clothing
7. Residence repeatedly left animal feces by the front door.
8. Residence let their large dogs off their leashes in the apartment. Expect this when moving in
9. The parking is terrible in this area
10. The management is terrible about putting you back in a timely manner.
11. Residence leave there trash in the hallways for days on end
12. The Elevator often malfunctions

My wife and I used to live in Barrington Apartments for about a year — the Super at that time Tim LaForce was amazing. He went out of the way to take care of his residents and was always helpful with getting stuff done in a very timely fashion. We loved our apartment — NYC style, high ceilings, crown molding, hardwood floors and well insulated. We picked a basement unit just for the eclectic look of pipes running above our ceiling and modern kitchen.
Street parking is a downer for sure. Since it is park avenue area, you have to keep an eye out for drunk drivers — one of our cars got side swept by a drunk driver while it was parked on the street. Sometimes, the elevator stops working (not a biggie).
Conveniently located near banks, restaurants, happening places and bus routes.
