I tried several Chinese buffets in the Jefferson Road area and this one has the largest selection and better food and service. My water cup got filled without me asking(not at the other place). Servers were attentive and even made polite conversation when I did. They didn’t hold back on refilling the crab legs which they serve on certain days. $ 11.99 on days with crab legs. $ 9.99 on other days. Seems worth it.

I always thought I will never write a negative review on Unilocal as it might be damaging for a small restaurant, but this place made me do it !! It’s not just that the food is awful and cold and tastes like yesterday’s leftover, it’s not just that the place is smelley like an open-air fish market, it’s not just that the place is super overpriced, they are extremely rude. They made us change our seats three times(with my elderly mom) across the whole f-ing restaurant and demanded proofs that we have paid already in the middle of our meal(they makeyou pay as you enter, so it was unnecessary). We still tried to eat the food because we had paid and were famished from a long travel — and failed … and trust me when I say this, I have never tasted anything worse and tasteless than this. If there were a negative star, I would have used it. My wife ate fruits, just fruits, for seventeen dollars. Tl;dr: If you have two options: starve and die versus eat at this place, die. Even better, walk a block and treat yourself to a subway, as I am going to do next.

So i have been to this location numerous times… i would say out of 10 visits, 3 of those visits were«excellent»…Which is why we kept going back. Always hoping for that reminder of our«excellent» experience. Sadly never having it. I am going to lay out exactly why this place sucks in a easy to read list. 1.The food is never as good at lunch than it is at dinner… and i don’t mean a little different tasting… i am talking about A HUGE difference… For sure old food from the night before. 2.Even though the food is better at dinner, if you go on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday… and you don’t eat crab legs… You will still be charged for them. 3. So they have this roast-beef that i actually think is good… you have to slice it yourself and it taste like it was marinated in A1. Well i have gone on a friday for dinner once and it was there. Then i returned for dinner another time on a friday and it was not there. In it’s place a giant steamed canned Spam. Yup You heard me… a Giant steamed canned spam. So not only was i charged for crab legs i do not eat… i did not even get to eat the one thing i actually went there for. As i left i asked the host Why they did not have the roast beef… and he responded that they only put it out when«there is a big crowd» Um that’s funny because i felt like there was a pretty big crowd that night. He also said that they always put it out on Sunday. Well Guess what? We went on a Sunday some time after… and wouldn’t you believe it… when i went to look for that tasty roast beef… a GIANTCANNED«STEAMED» SPAM was in it’s place. I still got charged for those crab legs that i don’t eat. I have probably went 4 times and that roast beef was not there. 4.Ok you might be thinking i am reaching with this one… But i am not. So no matter what time of day you go, there is one spot at the buffet that ALWAYS smells like body odor(BO) After a few visits and always smelling this same putrid smell at the same spot… it starts to get in your head… Is it me? Couldn’t be. I bathe and wear antiperspirant. Isit another customer who is always at the buffet the same time as me? Well no that theory went out the window when i smelled it at a time with no other people near by. Finally… after some«sniffing».I nailed it… it’s the vat of instant mashed potatoes. Not sure if they make them with dirty water or what but those mashed potatoes smell like a 6th grade boys locker room. Sadly on my last visit to this place(probably my 15th time) I went for lunch. The food was so nasty i decided to get those mashed potatoes n gravy along with some other unusual items i never would get at a chinese buffet, because all the items i usually get were gross on this visit. Folks I took one bite and felt like i was on a episode of fear factor. 10 mins into my meal(second plate) I left a full plate of food… asked for the check. Tipped the nice waitress… and left. Never again.

Worst buffet I’ve ever been to, dried out and room-temperature foods. The hibachi got a foul and raw smell to it. Avoid at all cost

A friend and I visited this place on recommendation from my classmate. Overall, its decent. The venue, ambiance, and the music — good. Coming to the actual food part — well, I’ve been to buffets before and I usually hog onto everything — appetizers, main dishes and desserts. This time, I just had the appetizers and desserts(a lot of them). While they two were delicious, the main dishes weren’t so great. The rice was bland, so were the noodles. The soups — I’ve tasted better at other places. The sesame chicken was dry, but weird at the same time — probably soggy. Clams weren’t that great either(I threw them away). My friend had a go at the sushi and says they were good. Overall, at that $ 7 – 8 price, its worth a shot.

Keeping in perspective of Chinese buffets, this one was one of the better buffets I’d visited in quite some time. I’d been here several times before over the years. The fact that they’ve lasted for so many years is a statement in itself. This time I was here for a quick lunch. They have quite a large variety of Chinese style, American and even Japanese foods. From sushi to egg rolls to chicken on a stick, there’s enough to feed a small army. Many steam tables which were well attended with the exception of the peel & eat shrimp which ran out and was never refilled. The stuffed shrimp was a bit too dense with a pork meatball type stuffing. I stayed mainly with the rice noodles and lo mein. If you’re MSG sensitive, this is not the place for you. I’m not typically MSG sensitive, but was after lunch.

Definitely didn’t feel good after eating here. I came here for a work party and everyone I talked to the next day did not feel good at all :\ The sushi area had sushi that was left out for hours and was pretty warm. The«dim sum» area had stuff that was barely warm and dried out. The rest of the food didn’t look very fresh… Oh and I also had some sour/foul smelling honey dew :( My stomach is still recovering a week later…

Went on a Friday around 6:30 p.m. for a fast meal. The food was low quality, cold, and unappetizing during a peak dining time. Avoid this place. They cheap out on everything. The food quality is poor, and they just let items sit on the buffet without replacing them. For example, several items I sampled were dried out or room temperature. They advertise crab legs, but there’s never crab legs on the buffet. Also, overpriced for the quality. Save your money and go somewhere else. There are better buffets out there, and going to this place was a mistake. I will never return.

Coming here for a Sunday lunch yielded unpleasant results. The service was horrible, but the food was not too bad. Had it been fresh, I would be more satisfied. During my meal, which was over charged, I attempted to open the blinds of the window. The server immediately closed them. After asking about it, she indicated that she doesn’t want people to see in. Finally, I want to comment on the very disgusting bathrooms. I would not recommend this buffet, it is a disappointment.

3 star, its a massive buffet of mixed foods, some is good and some is questionable, stick to the basics and you should be fine. But for a buffet its not bad, prices aren’t bad either.

Good buffet not fantastic but most of the dishes were decent. The coconut shrimp was far too heavily battered and lacked flavor. The sesame chicken was dried out and soggy. The garlic shrimp and grilled zucchini were there really incredible dishes. But there sushi was also well made and plentiful in selection. All in all it was decent, nothing to rave about but compared to China Buffet it was a significant improvement.

I’d normally never go to any place like this and have to face my doctor for confession. There is an endless supply of unhealthy food as far as you can see, but if you are a college student looking to fill up for the weekend, this is the place. However, this was the choice for a networking event, so I went fearing the worst and it wasn’t quite that bad. Nothing was delicious, but nothing warranted going back for the same thing twice. There was a salad bar IF I chose to be healthy. This was a luncheon so there were no crab legs to fight over. The service for drinks and replacing the plates was friendly and efficient, but when I want Chinese again, I’d go somewhere else for quality vs. quantity.

Do NOT go there for the crab leg gimmick. They bring out 4 snow crab clusters every 20 minutes. People will stand and wait as they know they won’t see any after 2 people take their minimal fair share. I told the manager after unsuccessfully speaking English to kitchen servers. he said«go wait they cook» …ya right that’s what I want to do when I go to dinner with friends and family visiting from out of town. As for the meat,(notice I didn’t say chicken or beef?) is all prepared as cheap as possible. You might find a tiny piece of brown meat inside layers and layers of flour/batter covered in some type of sugary or soy sauce. Bathrooms NOT clean and no sign of any sanitizing or cleaning. I wish the health dept. would do surprise walk ins in places like this. They must believe we don’t know what quality food is because dumb people keep going there. Any Chef King in the city would be better for half the price. Save your money. 1 star because I had to. Customer service =0 Quality= 0 You have to ask yourself, if they don’t care about the quality of what you are eating, and want to save every possible penny, do you think they are spending the money on good employee hygiene, fresh fryer oil, sanitizing supplies, food thermometers and cleaning agents? Who’s washing the forks and dishes and in what?

Excellent selection. Plus sushi and Mongolian BBQ. Wait staff was very friendly but they didn’t speak much English. The environment was clean and well lit. There was kiwi and mango on the fruit bar area. Delicious

Large variety and pretty inexpensive but it’s nothing special. The servers were pretty inattentive and ambivalent toward us. The desserts were all disgusting, you’re better off having more of the ‘Chinese’ food on offer. Good for if you’re starving and on a budget. Otherwise, skip it.

Not just a Chinese buffet. Not just a grand buffet, but a GRANDSUPERBUFFET! The name says it all, and yet it says nothing other than leading you to believe there will be rows of fried food lathered in butter and most likely fried. With that imagery in mind, Grand Super Buffet(hereby known as GSB) doesn’t disappoint. There were certainly rows and rows of food that came in shades of glimmering reds, yellows, and oranges, with a few spots of green mixed in(gotta keep it healthy right?). I wish I could remember what the inside foyer looked like but I was quite distracted by the holographic depictions of scenes from the bible displayed a long a table. We were whisked to our seats, waters were set at the the table and then we were piling food on to plates. GSB follows the trend of a Chinese Buffet offering sushi as well, and it also follows the trend of the sushi being mediocre(does anyone really attend a buffet expecting high-quality sushi?). Expect a few variations of rolls with fake crab, and some ebi that looks a bit flat. Here’s the thing with GSB: it knows what it is and it works with it. For about $ 7.00, I had an all you can eat buffet where my water was always filled up, empty plates were cleared incredibly fast, and the food was worthy of a $ 7.00 buffet(not mind-blowing, but not amazing). My lunch buddies at work are two guys who have appetites as big as mine so there are plenty of days where we’re looking for a big meal for a small price and GSB provides that. Will I come back next week or next month? Probably not, but I’ll keep it in mind for the next time I’m craving a meal of gluttony.

It’s a buffet… Not much NEEDS to be said about it, but I’ll say it anyways. 3 stars because it’s 50⁄50. Yes, really. The pro’s — You can eat tons of food. I say food, and not«Chinese» or «Oriental» food because honestly it’s not authentic in the least, but that’s to be expected. It is however good for the money. On the weekends(Fri + Sat), the food goes quickly, so it’s fresh. I’ve eaten here several times and never had a problem with getting sick like other buffets, so in terms of buffet over all, if you’re going to be a proud american and eat 5 plates of food, this is the place to do it. The variety is pretty huge, and quite impressive. From mac and cheese, to bok choy mix, to meat dishes & fruits /veggies. Whatever you’re in the mood for SOMETHING will satisfy it here. The Cons — If you are going there for crab you’ll be horribly disappointed when you realize that there will be a few full families camping that crab for dear life, each time they bring a new dish of it out, one or two people will plop it all on their plates and be done with it. I’ve never seen that dish full longer than 30 seconds. The sushi is very bland. It’s not to say it’s horrible. But it’s about the same quality you’d get from wegmans. Not good, not bad. Just somewhere in the middle. If you go on a day that isn’t Friday or Saturday you’re brave. The food is generally left out a bit longer and doesn’t have high turn over due to limited customers. This is a buffet however, and you can’t really expect them to keep tons of fresh food to feed 2 or 3 tables. It’s perfectly reasonable, but, still should be mentioned. The ‘whatever’ fact(Not good, not bad… just whatever) — It’s ~12−13 dollars. Look at that how you will. That’s a very good price if you go all out and eat a ton of food. However if you’re only moderately hungry, there’s far better places you can get a full plate of food of higher quality to satisfy your hunger. Overall: 5.5÷10 I like it for what it is, a buffet. But the food is still buffet food.

Normally I avoid buffet-restaurants at all costs. I always find the food terribly sup-par. Today, however, I allowed myself to be coaxed by some coworkers to join them at the Grand Super Buffet for lunch. I’m surprised the establishment’s name doesn’t include«China» somewhere, but I suppose since its offers more than just Chinese food, it’s a bit more accurate. To me, however, it really is a chinese buffet that also offers typical american food. The space is large, the tables and chairs are cheap but sturdy. Exactly the same furniture found in 90% of american chinese restaurants from the 80s, except the color scheme is not as bad here. There are 6 islands of food, one dessert, one salad, and the rest have assorted cooked foods(at least 12 dishes to each island). Sushi and«sushi» rolls are provided at a wall-attached counter. Well, I guess the geography doesn’t matter much. The people: clearly eaters come here. Seeing a skinny person is not impossible, but, obviously, they are by far in the minority. It actually makes me kinda sad when I see people so obese that they can hardly get up to the buffets, but I also see them taking many trips with heaping piles of food. The endless supply of food must be a good motivator for them to get up and walk … it’s sick, I know. The food: I am not really sure I know where to begin. Again, its all terribly sup-par. Nonetheless, the chinese food dishes are emptied quickly. As a quick example: I will usually eat any kind of pizza(even bad pizza is better than no pizza ;-) but this is not true here :-(. The lunch buffet was $ 6.99 + tax, drinks are extra.(Dinner prices must be more.) They say there is an inverse correlation between weight and wealth. All you can eat for 6.99 helps to reinforce the actualization of the correlation. Please, please, let me never return here, or to any other buffet(except for brunch or breakfast). On a positive note, the Fried Dough Balls were very good.
