I’ve come in here more times than I can count, the service and coffee is mediocre at best in my experience. Too much syrup in flavored drinks, I was given caffeinated coffee when I ordered decaf once which ruined my day as I’m hypersensitive to caffeine, and the food is plain and overpriced. My real problem however, is that a barista that I’ve never met, asked my 15 year old sister a wildly inappropriate question about a very personal part of my life that I had not shared with her. So on top of being incredibly offended, I also had to have a very, very awkward talk with my teenage sister that I was not planning on having any time soon. This is honestly unacceptable and I will not be coming back after 7 years as an already disappointed customer.

Service ok. Coffee good! Hit or miss on polite servers. But a good, local cup of java. They have decaf all the time brewed too. Yay!

If you are serious about coffee there is no reason to visit this establishment. Wait staff very friendly however they should not be misrepresenting the coffee services. My daughter requested a pour over coffee which is a very labor intensive process. I happened to view their process which was not how pour over coffees are crafted. It was basically a cup of hot water dumped over coffee grounds in matter of secs. What she got was completely undrinkable. Also while the chider I ordered was drinkable, it came out of a batter bucket which is not how this drink is made. After a 3000 plus drive from Oregon to VA this was absolutely sad. We sought out and stopped at local coffee houses all across the US and this is the ONLY one that not only failed to meet expectations but is charging for services they can’t perform and pulling a fast one on people who are not coffee savvy. Steer clear.

A three because the customer service was so nice. For this to be the ‘premier coffee house of Roanoke’ I wasn’t impressed. My tea, although loose leaf, wasn’t properly measured. There was waaaay too much tea in the pouch making it bitter. The coffee selections, although impressive, most listed could not be brewed to order. Only 2 types brewed daily… the rest you have to buy to brew on your own. No pour overs. No french press. Come on guys… Long lines to the door, though. Love the coffee sac chair covers…

Terrible burnt coffee and unknowledgeable baristas lands this coffee shop with a one star review. Seriously one of the worst coffee places I’ve ever been to and I’ve given this place like 5 different chances to change my mind. Consistently bad.

Great coffee selections and a quick place to grab some breakfast! I love their lattes and breakfast bagel sandwiches, but more importantly I keep coming back because of the back patio which allows dogs. It’s hard finding places to go that will allow my dog to dine too! :) Friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere. Would recommend.

This used to be a great place for relaxing atmosphere, fine food items, drinks and pleasant service. Steady DECLINE over past year. Goofy service, strange&loud street people taking over, dirty. Way too bad for this roanoke haunt.

Stopped in for a pot of tea, after walking around downtown Roanoke. Perfect location. Not too many tables, but enough open seating available while we were there. Wouldn’t study here for long hours, but perfect for a cup of coffee or tea. Chairs are pretty run down but it was a perfect spot to get out of the rain for a minute and warm up with tea.

Went the weekend after Thanksgiving, with some friends from out of town. No one was waiting at the counter, yet it took a while for one of three employees to acknowledge and wait on us. Not friendly but that usually doesn’t matter. We must have reminded them of someone else that they didn’t like. One of us got an espresso and they actually handed it to us in a large paper cup. Were we on candid camera? My friend asked if he could have a mug to put it in, the fella acted somewhat reluctant in giving it up. Maybe he was new? Cappuccino was average, also served in a paper cup, not a big deal. They knew we were drinking«in» — the latte we got came in a real mug! The good, smart employees must’ve called in sick that day. I’ll give the benefit of doubt, rather than be embarrassed by a Roanoke establishment.

Tried this place before heading home last weekend! The whole store smells like one big coffee bean(coffee lovers’ heaven)! The richness of the coffee made my heart melt! If only yall had a Richmond location!

Only ever had one bad experience here and it was because of a particular employee that I suppose doesn’t need to be named. She was quite rude to us. Other than that the food is pretty good and the coffee is the bomb. We like to buy their beans and grind them ourselves, tons to choose from too!

Best coffee in Roanoke. The food is underwhelming in flavor. Salsa had zero pepper.

Nice place with friendly service. Unfortunately the drinks left something to be expected as my cold drinks ended up being 70% ice cubes and 30% liquid. Gave a bonus star for the layout of the restaurant with seats looking out onto the markets.

Solid breakfast spot! Hard to go wrong with a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit(satisfying and made with real eggs) and a Bagel with Lox(my all-time favorite breakfast). And of course, their coffee is on point; I really enjoyed my latte. Managed to grab a table on their back patio which unfortunately is right next to their garbage bins, but when it’s a sunny day, I can’t refuse an outdoor patio. Nice location downtown, a good coffee shop frequented by locals, and a super casual atmosphere. I’ll definitely return here the next time I’m strolling through Roanoke.

Coffee: Very Good! I really enjoy the coffee and they have a wide selection of specialty drinks. I usually get an Americano, which isn’t very complex but it is always enjoyable. Food: Good. I’ve only had breakfast items and pastries but they are always enjoyable. Prices: Fair. Coffee shops are always a little over priced. Atmosphere: Good. Full of locally owned charm. Mill Mountain is always inviting and the music is at a good level for chatting with friends or working. The clientele can be a little hipstery, but it’s a locally owned coffee shop so that’s not really surprising. Make sure you ask for the wifi password while you’re ordering because it’s locked. Location: Good. Downtown Roanoke has really been cleaning up their act. Mill Mountain is close Center in the Square and the farmers market so it’s a great first stop on a trip downtown. Parking can be difficult, as it is anywhere downtown. Service: Hit or Miss. Sometimes the baristas, cashiers, and cooks are friendly and quick and sometimes they are rude and take for ever. If you walk in and they aren’t smiling you got a rude one and should expect an attitude when you order because clearly she’s cooler than you and has something way more pressing than her job to do. Also, if there are more than two people waiting for food and you have less than 20 minutes you should just order a pastry because it won’t be ready in time(even if you only order a bagel). On the other hand if you walk in and the cashier is smiling and there isn’t a line feel free to order away, they’re on their A game that day!

We stopped by Mill Mountain Coffee last night. It was the worst experience ever! First of all they were not busy ATALL. There were only a few people in the shop, and no one in line. The two girls working seemed completely irritated we were in there. They did not greet us, but instead rolled their eyes as I ordered. I tipped them too, for some stupid reason. My son spilled his drink on accident. I know this is SO annoying, so I asked for a towel so I could clean it up myself. The girl was so irritated again and told me no. Assuming they would get him another drink and clean the spill, we waited. They never came over. Again, not busy and no one in line. I had to go ask for a drink for him. She told me it was going to be a while. So we wait. She finally comes to clean the spill,(which I was more then happy to clean), and she tells us we could move somewhere else. By now everyone in our party is pissed off, and tell her we would be happy to get out of the store as soon as we get his drink. She says that we needed to tell the girl making the drinks. We proceed to tell her that we did already tell her. This place is a joke. I called this morning, and the gentleman I spoke with says they get calls like this all the time. I’m not sure who is running this business, but I would be mortified to have employees treating people this way. I don’t care what kind of day they had, you do not treat people that way. Joke!

Great location. If you are staying at Hotel Roanoke, a walk across the walkway and you can grab some breakfast, etc. Prices — for a breakfast are very reasonable, but I only had a bagel so I cannot comment on quality. Key Lime Cheesecake, delicious, it seemed a little pricey for the area, but it was tasty and I was on ‘vacation’ so I didn’t mind. Coffee — being from the ‘big city’ and having coffee at establishments where they take coffee very seriously(Vigilante); given the set up at MMC&T I didn’t expect anything more than a hot and regular cup of joe. What I got was a completely opposite, it seemed to have been brewed half-hardheartedly. I actually couldn’t finish it and I’m not picky, at home I’ll sometimes brew Eight O’Clock, actually pretty good for a basic if you haven’t tried. I didn’t complain but did ask for a ‘switch out’ for another brew and gave it to my husband. They had at least 10 carafes behind the counter, the conference room type. Not sure if they had a large selection of brews or if this was their set-up. My thoughts are that you’d have a different set-up — maybe two large carafes and a smaller selection of brews? Switch out brews on different days? Something to keep the coffee hot and fresh. The overall menu was also too extensive and all over the place — literally, tailor it down and provide quality over quantity. Just a thought. Customer service — very nice. I needed soda water, lots, and they were very accommodating.

Nice cozy coffee shop in the downtown of Roanoke. It has a lot of potential and it all starts with the coffee. What attract my attention was the sign outside stating an. ‘full’ espresso bar with on own grinds. I was think thinking, «great.» but as Iwent up to order my espresso. I inquired what roasts were used for their espressos and they gave me a blank stare. I ordered a double espresso anyway… needless to say, the espressos tasted more like a dark roast American coffee. A bit on the watery side for an espresso… Unfortunately the espresso is what I based my review on, seems like others enjoy the café food offered. Don’t let my review on the espresso discourage you from going in. Check it out for yourself.
