Marco & Luca

My wife and I were downtown looking for a quick, inexpensive lunch. We knew of Marco and Luca from the location in Blacksburg, and we had only heard good things so we decided to give it a shot. It was perfect. There aren’t many options on the menu at the market building location, but we were ok with that. We each got six dumplings, split one of the pork buns, and one soda. Everything came in at around $ 12. I want to try the other locations to see if there is more on the menu!

I went in to try the dumplings since everyone just raved about this place. Although I liked the dumplings, I was not impressed. I didn’t see what all the hype was about. I also had the pork bun which I did not like, but maybe that was just me. It was my first pork bun and maybe it’s just not my cup of tea. I would probably go for the dumplings again, but I wouldn’t go out of my way just to come here.

I was excited to try this place after hearing about it from a friend. I made sure to get a variety so that I could get a feel for their menu. I got an order of their sweet and sour (cold) noodles and it is exactly what it sounds like. My only criticism for this dish was that it had too much sauce. I also got an order of their famous fried dumplings, which were really delicious. I ate a lot of dumplings before, but never had them fried definitely an experience worth having. Lastly, I got an order of their steamed pork bun which is the same as a bbq pork bun you would get in chinatown, if you ever been to one, with the exception of a black sweet and sour sauce poured over it. Personally, I prefer the more traditional pork bun (w/​o the sauce). I can see myself ordering this item again, I’ll just make sure to say without sauce next time. This is a great alternative to fast food with similar prices. I recommend getting the fried dumplings!

Excellent dumplings, great as an appetizer. Don’t expect to come here for a meal. Before they opened in Roanoke I drove to Blacksburg just to get the dumplings.
