Just had the WORST experience here. After being seated it took almost 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order. The waiter said he was only the drink man and the waitress was «coming right now» apparently his idea of «right now» and ours were WAY different because it was 10 minutes before Tina arrived to take our order. 20 minutes later we still had not even received our soup or salad! We got up to leave. At the register my husband asked to speak to the manager regarding a complaint. He was told by the manager to wait. We waited 5 minutes while he was apparently to busy to be bothered with customers complaints. This is the last time we will ever go there. Not sure what has happened as this was the second time we’ve had poor service. Used to love going there, hopefully they get new management before they lose more customers

Was just in here this morning, at around noon, to get breakfast or «brunch» with my family. Firstly, the food took way too long, the server basically ignored us the whole time and my sister that; mind you, is pregnant, had to wait an extra 15 mins for her food because the server didn’t even put the order in. Had we not asked for her plate, she would’ve just watched us eat! When I spotted the manager I tried to politely flag him down (as he was speaking to his employee) and he signaled his hand to say «wait» as if I was a child or a pet. Yes, very unprofessional. You’re a MANAGER. So we get ready to leave, we pay for our food, they offered a discount and dessert, but it gets better… at the register as we are paying he has the nerve to say «Don’t say I didn’t do anything for you» ! Are you serious?! We don’t NEED help with the bill or a measly dessert. You’re not doing us a favor. Your customer service sucks Riverside norms. Will not return.

So my family and I came in to eat and waited five min before being seated by the window where the ac did not reach and it was way too uncomfortable. So after having to say something they cleared a table and moved us to a cooler spot. We ordered and proceeded to wait 30 min for our food, during that time the server did not even come to our area or check on us. After 30 min we got our food, well most of it. My pregnant sister in law waited another 15 in before we had to ask if her food was coming out, just to find out he forgot to put her order in. Everything was ok with the food, but when speaking to the manager about it he was very nonchalant. Although he gave us a discount and apologized it was not sincere and he had the nerve to say don’t say I didn’t do anything for you.
It was very unprofessional and as a person who works in the food service industry I did not appreciate it. If anything work on the attentiveness of their servers and be more polite, although it’s busy people can still have a good attitude.

my husband and i had dinner at the riverside ca location saturday march 5^th 2016 and hubby got grilled salmon and i steak and shrimp went home and after a few hours hubby got very sick with throw up and diarreahea from 2am all the way to 83o am when abulance had to b called to to what they said was a severe food poisioning episode they asked what and where he had ate last and ask for me to notify restuarant regarding this and after spending 6 hours in the hospital making sure hubby came out ok i called just to be informed by a juan the manager said that there was nothing to check or do since this calll to his knowledge was the 1^st he had heard of no sorry no let me check asap nothing but oh well sad to be you attitude never again will we risk our health at this place

Very busy tonight ! Order in at 5:39, soup and salad @ 5:49, meal @ 6:03. Done at 6:50. Good meal time for a nap when we get home.

This place is horrible. Trashiest spot i’ve ever been to. Nothing but bums surrounding the area. Took about 45 minutes to get our order out. People who arrived after us got there orders first!!! Our waiter was a joke. An eldery caucasian women… Rude rude rude!!! If u hate ur job that much then just quit!

I’ve been going to Norms Riverside for several years now feeling it was a great value. Since the Norms family sold the restaurant. there has been a steady downward slide while prices increase. They are constantly now running out of their Chicken Tortilla soup on Wed by 8 pm if not earlier and refuse to make more. There is no consistency in the clam chowder. which often ends up way too watery. The took a few items off the menu I used to order regularly .like the Santa Fe Turkey Wrap and Chuck Wagon Sirloin Steak. Even stand-​bys like a Denver Omelette and Chef’s Salad are gone. The NY Steaks they now push are no where as good as the past sirloins. Tough and lots of gristle. The took away $ 2 coupons opting for the Norms Clubs. which is virtually useless as far as beneficially. Norms was one of the few restaurants still building new stores, while others closed. What happened? New investors not happy with a fair return?
Recently have also come in on weekends to find they closed the counter. Once was on the busy Valentines Days. because they were short on staff. What’s going on??? Speaking of the counter .the seats are like sitting on wooden planks .but they refuse to upgrade.

Our wiater Maria was real fast and friendly. Overall good experience. Only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because they sat me near a elderly couple that kept complaining about my kids making noise. Its a family resturant…

Waited 10 minutes for a table. Steaks cooked well done when asked to be prepared medium. Would not come here again or recommend it to others.

Best deals in town… absolutely best waitress anywhere (cathy) in a.m. I had bigger better breakfast. It can’t be beat ! $

This place is always packed on the weekend. So expect to wait 15 – 20 minutes or possibly more.
It’s a typical local diner with decent food and service. It’s a great breakfast spot.

First time here all I can say come hungry I mean hungry

Food was delicious (shrimp and steak) and
Baked potato
And yes it came with soup and salad…

Service was fast and friendly
The only thing I don’t like is the fact we don’t have one here

Worst service ever!!! The place is only a quarter full and it took a half an hour to get my food! Plus they served the meal with no utensils so I’m sitting here waiting for someone to stop a second a get me a fork! Ugh. Never coming back here again

Horrible manager who is rude, lacks customer service. DONT EAT HERE!!! The food isn’t all that great. Seriously don’t eat here!

I always get the T bone steak n eggs and a stack of pancakes on the side, never had a bad meal here, coffee is addictive

This is the BEST NORMS I have ever been to. Hands down. I’ve dined at a few other locations in LA and OC for many many years. Service is meh — I just thought that was the norm (pun intended).
Living like a perpetual poor college student and want more bang for yo buck? Norms always have the best combo esp if you love steak! It’s similar to Denny’s and Coco’s — but a bit more modern or up dated.
I’ve dined here a few late nights and once during lunch. The waiter/​waitress have been very friendly and attentive overall. Tip well people! 18−20% of your tab if you’ve received great service. again this location’s food, presentation, ambiance, customer service have been top notch for this type of diner.
Go to other locations and compare — YOULL SEE WHY THIS LOCATION IS ZEE BEST.
Our usual plates are either sirloin steak and eggs combo with hash brown and pancakes for $ 8.99!
Steak and shrimp combo with soup, salad, and dessert for $ 11.99! Omg get the gumbo soup!
I’ve had their pork chop is delish as well.

On second thought, I’d advise not coming here. I added the review below right after I went there and then got sick. I’ve been sick all day so I won’t be going back.
If you can handle the copious amounts of clarified butter, this is a great place for breakfast. Well, maybe not great but better than nothing at 4 in the morning. Their biscuits and gravy is really good. They cooked my bacon the way that I like it which is unusual because most people do not get what extra crispy means. The hash browns were so soggy with butter that they were inedible and there was entirely too much grease and butter on the plate. The pancakes were just ok, not as light and fluffy as they should be. The syrup was served cold. The french toast is pretty good. The eggs, over medium, were cooked perfectly. The Service was good. The place itself was surprisingly clean. It was a little pricey. $ 30 for two people. All we had was breakfast and coffee.

Very dirty, disgusting place full of flys. Lack of cleanliness very bad customer service as well. Waitresses take for ever to check up on you.

I went Sunday morning, usually very busy, but I sat at the counter right away with no wait. Rosetta my server immediately, came over to introduce herself and got my drink order, and quickly returned with my drinks and then went over specials.
I always get the same breakfast pretty much where ever I go, Chichen fried steak and eggs. with Bicuits and gravey, and hash browns. So here is the break down of everything I ate.
Biscuits and gravy, 5 stars, fresh soft biscuit very tasty.
hash browns 4 stars, good cooked well, not greasy, but no absolute wow factor for 5 star
eggs — 3 stars, normal nothing special
Chicken fried steak, delicious 5 star, the meat was very tasty, and not overpowered by breading, or gravy, the flavors mixed perfectly.
Drink Pepsi and water,
Pepsi, lame I wish it was Coke
Water 1 star, cant stand tap water at restaurants, but not most important part of meal/​experience.
