Decided to try something new on our way to Modesto, and hit the jackpot! Everything delicious! Excellent salsas, including a guacamole sauce. Fresh tasty chips. Outstanding caldo de res and menudo. All served with a big friendly smile! Love this place! A great find.

I absolutely love this place and the service is awesome! The prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get and the flavor is on point! Depends on the cook tho!

The service was poor. Not even a smile or welcome greeting as we walked in. The food, well in one word, Yuck! Dry tacos. Is it too much to ask for more salsa. There is a salsa bar, but all of the salsas were near empty when we walked in on this Sunday afternoon at about 2 pm. We stood in line and ordered, I ordered for my small child, they don’t have a kids menu, so I paid full price for a grown up burrito, containing only beans, rice and steak. Then for myself 3 tacos carne asada, I stepped to my side and, mom stepped in beside me and ordered nachos, the young lady asked for her to repeat it and mom said, the nachos #13 with carne asada. Then hubby stepped up and ordered his. All said and done after they brought out our orders 1 by 1. I got up to ask for the nachos we’d ordered and the young lady said we’d never ordered them, so what then did she do or was she thinking when we ordered the nachos. The salsa was bland, I has to add salt to the guacamole salsa. The beans in the kids bean burrito, tasted a little over cooked, you know that burned bean taste. I asked if there was diet coke, but I think I asked in a foreign language, because she looked at me like, uh, what’s that. I should have saved my money and gone for fast food. How this place got 4 stars is beside me. We stopped because Unilocalers had given it such stars, please star sparingly.

This has the best Mexican food hands down. Try the seafood cocktail and of course the al pastor tacos. Best ever! There is nothing there I haven’t liked. Great prices and authentic food.

A must if you visit our little town of Riverbank. As a family we have tried literally every item on the menu(in the last 3 years of living here of course) and have found that this is our go to spot for the quintessential taqueria in riverbank. Al pastor, my hubby’s favorite is so tender and flavorful. It really is one of the top meats for a taco or burrito. Which I might add is HUGE and very generous in the meat. Carne Asada, our kids LOVELOVELOVE. I think it has to do with the fact that the meat has such and awesome flavor and texture that any kid would devour, we always end up getting at least 4 carne Asada taco plates. Chorizo, and Lengua YUMMMMAY, MOUTHWATERINGGOOOOOOODNESS! A must try and my favorites here. Now you are probably wondering why if i am raving about this place, only 4 stars? The reason? I have had super awesome and fantastic meals like these from Taco Trucks and scattered all around my home town in the Bay Area and even there, the prices were less than here. To feed a family of 4, you are looking of at least $ 45 plus. BUT, other than that. This is our go to Taqueria in riverbank. We always order, load up on the awesome and take home to enjoy with a red box movie. ALWAYS super friendly, CLEAN and pretty fast. They are a local family owned and run business and you have to support that, especially in our sorta little town.

This is probably the best place to get your Mexican food fix in Riverbank. Personally, I love the Carnitas Super Burrito and shredded chicken quesadilla. The food here has always been excellent and I have been going for years now. They have a salsa bar, loaded with guacamole, pico de gallo, lime, peppers, etc. It is all really good, and the price is right UPDATE2015– I had to lower my review score from 3 to 5 stars. The food is hit or miss lately. The female cook still does a good job… quality has been laking overall while prices slowly rise.

I have had the burrito’s here twice and a taco plate of asada once. While I havent tried some of their other dishes I usually go to San Jose/Mis Conpadres for Mexican street food and that’s what I’m judging it on. The salsas are not as thick and texturally pleasing as San Jose’s, however the flavor is their. The meat was overlooked twice and while the charring added flavor it made the meat harder to chew. Overall satisfaction: 6.5÷10 San Jose Taqueria 8⁄10 Mis Compadres. 9⁄10

OK Amigos, ask yourself… how many taquerias between Riverbank and Oakdale? More than two dozen. Yet This one, and their Oakdale version, Taqueria Riverbank 2, are it if you want to know where the best food is. The super burrito with carne assada is what dreams are made of, THEBEST! Anthony Bourdain, you will never know what a seriously delicious burrito tastes like, until you eat here! Gracias Taqueria Riverbank!

SADLY I have had to change my views on this place based on my last few visit. What used to me a 5 start has now become just a 3 in my book. Quality, environment and services has all been shot to heck. Not sure if there was a change in management or the economy!!! Anyhow the food went from being an inspiration to becoming a better person to just another bland tasting taqueria, the environment is starting to become worn and rundown and the service is just ehh. The biggest grip was the heat! please turn on the air… eating bland mexican food is hard enough, but eating it in a stuff environment with a warm drink because the ice machine is not working anymore… with regret it looks like there is no more reasons to make a trip to riverbank.

Last night, I had the pleasure of stopping in for dinner, and the special was Shrimp Diabla, Shrimp in red sauce, rice, beans for $ 9.00 dollars. What a delight.

My family and I have been coming here for years and this place continues to be great! I remember the first time we went we all ordered 5 tacos each(thinking they were small taco truck style). Little did we know these were monster tacos made with a full size tortilla and plenty of meat! I’ve had their tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tostadas, camarones, etc. and it is all great! The Panaderia next door is pretty darn good as well.

I would definately agree with everyone. I have eaten too many burritos in my day, and this place beats my hometown favorite(taquilas in Livermore) hands down. I have only had carne asada super burritos and my lady friends veggie nachos. Both are amazing! This is the shining star of the city of action.

My family and I have been eating here for years and the food’s great taste is very consistent. I believe they changed owners a while back but the food is still delicious. I usually have the wet burrito or quesadilla and their food portions are more than enough to fill you up.

OJ C, I’m so jealous I didn’t get to review Taqueria Riverbank ahead of you. As a Riverbank native, I can confirm the city’s motto… it was once the red light district of Stanislaus County. Nowadays, it has a Target and a Wingstop. Sigh… turning into yet another suburb… Taqueria Riverbank, now Taqueria Marlo’s(same cooks, new owner) is hands down the best burrito place around. And I lived in the Mission(SF) for several years, so I’ve eaten my share. If you’re not in the mood for a burrito, try the Camarones a la Diabla(the devil’s shrimp). The red sauce is deceptively sweet, then sneaks up on you and GOODGOOD where’s my cerveza??? The spice factor is high, be prepared. You’ve been warned.

I knew I was going to be the first to review this spot, as there is no reason to be in Riverbank(«The City of Action»!) except to grab a bite on your way to the mountains. Just had to give respect for an outstanding burrito, ranking near the top of my list. And I have consumed more than a few in my day. Certainly on a par with the better Taquerias in SF… great salsa bar is an added incentive. Also, none of those pesky rednecks to be seen. Be sure to drop by on your next trip to Yosemite, you won’t regret it.
