The burritos are delicious! I always get a chile relleno burrito and I add carnitas. It is a little pricey but then again you spend that much at Chipotle but their is no comparison to Chipotle because this is a real Mexican burrito. :)

By far the best burritos in town… my favorite is the chili rellenos burrito. Always fresh food! I grew up in Riverbank my family ate here all the time and we still do! Ok now I want a burrito!

The only reason I gave them one star was because I had work ordered food over the phone 10 mins before they closed. i went WAISTED my time on my break to driver all the way across town just to get there and the lady at the door tells me that they didn’t make our food. she said she didn’t have our number so she couldn’t call us back. WETOLDHERWHEREWEWORKEDBEFORE I GOTTHERE! The cook already put everything away when she went back to give them the order… before they even closed! that’s REDICULOUS! NEVERGOINGTHEREAGAIN! I wanted to update my review on the riverbank store. The last couple burritos that I have got from here have been great! I don’t know if they got a new manager or what but their quality has gotten a lot better! It is worth the drive from oakdale to get one of their burritos!

They lost their way. My tortilla was mildly cooked, the employee making my burrito was rude and uninviting, and she tossed my burrito at me once she was done. I did not appreciate that at all. The only highlight of my visit was the excellent customer service from the cashier. Needless to say, I will not return.

I had their pambaso– drenched roll with potato and chorizo. It was a little dry but the guacamole they placed in it-made it better. Had better, this was ok.

I was happy to find everything under the Sun already pre made and ready to go. I arrive before 11 a.m. And there was already a steady stream of people ordering from the food counter, that’s a good sign. You can also eat there which I did everything I had was great! I’ll be back!

The burritos are huge!!! Great tasting meat also. Prices are reasonable. Jumbo burrito is around $ 6.00 Would give 5 stars but more of a market than a taqueria so be prepared to eat food in your car

Ive traveled the world searching for a burrito that compares with la perla and I still haven’t found anything that’s even half as good. I eat here more frequently than the workers probably do, and it never gets old. When I go on vacation I find myself missing la perla. If I could, Id rate this place a 10 out 5, it’s so damn good.

La Perla is the BEST place EVER for a burrito! I’m originally from San Jose and go to SoCal alot, and both those places have amazing authentic mexican food, but La Perla beats them all! I haven’t had anything that I wouldn’t order again. It’s also a great little store to buy cheeses and their tortillas are so good!!! The pastries, too. I just can’t say enough about this place. There is nothing negative, except sometimes at lunch time it gets pretty crowded, but I guess that tells the story the best!

Taste and value are both A+++! the only thing I go here for is the hot food from the back if the store and that’s plenty enough for me to continue to return! This place runs specials quite often so keep your eyes open when you visit.

So I grew up eating here. This was one of my mother’s first jobs when we moved to Riverbank. So it’s hard to say that I hadn’t been there in six years but I am so happy I went back. Memories flooded back with the first bite of my Al Pastor burrito. The flavor alone was enough to justify the 8.5 hour drive up from SD, besides the visiting of family of course. Might have to make a return trip before another 6 years goes flying by.

Let me first start off by saying that my family and I go here all the time. This place is absolutely great. Yesterday, we went and they had grilled shrimp fajitas! I’ve never had that before and I must say it was absolutely delicious. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and were absolutely delicious. I had a shrimp fajita burrito and so did my wife and I was so full, I couldn’t finish mine so my wife finished it! La Perla Tapatia is probably the best place to get Mexican food in the valley. We literally have dozens upon dozens of Mexican restaurants between Riverbank, Modesto, Turlock, Ceres, etc. but really none of them compare to the quality and the flavor of the La Perla Tapatia markets. Every time we go, we always try to go at 11am, because about about 12, the entire place is packed to just about over-flowing. The food is so good, everyone who knows about food goes there. I’ve seen people dressed in business attire down to people dressed in yard-work clothes. The food is authentic California Mexican, having everything from burritos and tacos to Birria, fresh Chicharron, Menudo and great Mole. They also offer authentic dishes from different regions of Mexico every now and again. Their seafood is always great. I’ve learned a few things from coming to La Perla all the time. First of all, they sell packaged tortillas in the front of the store. Don’t buy those, they’re the same you can buy in the supermarket. At lunch, they make fresh tortillas that are AMAZING. You can get those at the counter. Also, don’t buy their cheeses that are packaged. They’re really pretty good and way more authentic than what you can buy in the store, but the best is the queso fresco cheese that they make(I believe it’s house-made) inside just the plastic wrap. That’s the freshest, most delicious cheese they have and it’s some of the best fresh cheese you can get in the central valley. It’s similar to fresh ricotta, but has a nice salty bite that’s great with tacos. Anyway, my wife and I were traveling around the area, trying all the Mexican places to see what was best and without a shadow of a doubt, it’s La Perla. We don’t go to any Mexican restaurants anymore, as for some reason, the food is never as fresh or as good as La Perla. Definitely the shining star of this area.

When I am returning from a drive to the bay or the valley my last stop is usually La Perla for burritos. When I get home my family usually asks«Did you get burritos?» The difficult thing is deciding what kind. Carnitas are always a favorite, but you have about a dozen choices. You can see everything in the glass case and ask what something is if it looks good. There are a few small tables, but most people get items to go. La Perla also has a huge selection of baked items, fresh tortillas, all the spices and ingredients for your own adventures in Mexican cooking, and cold drinks. My advice, if you are not from the area, is to buy your lunch here and then drive a few miles east on Hwy 108 to Knights Ferry. There is a nice spot by the Stanislaus River near the covered bridge where you can sit on the rocks and enjoy your lunch. Or, you can opt for one of the picnic tables.
