O’Brien’s Market

I prefer going to this store instead of one of the big grocery stores, but I have stopped buying meat here. They have a great meat counter with very pleasant people running it, but most of the meat is discolored and old looking. The last straw was when I ordered two pounds of lean ground beef. When i got it home, i realized only the top layer was pink and fresh. The inside was brown and stunk like it was bad. They don’t even try to hide the old sausages — they typically look brown like they should be thrown out.

I’d rather go here for just a few things instead of Save Mart down the street which I call Disneyland.
I stopped shopping their bakery in 2013… frozen and gross pastry. Selection was cut, my fav things are gone. Stopped purchasing deli meat this month because it’s disgusting. Quality is just going downhill. The product and quality that made this store great are gone. I’ll run in for milk and toilet paper though.

I will NEVER shop here again. They were out of the one item I came in for and the staff was very grumpy. I will happily make the trip to save mart from now on.

I switched pharmacys in order to make it more convenient plus every time I shopped for groceries the employees where always friendly so I ASSUMED the same friendly customer service from the pharmacy, no such luck the fist time dealt with Cindy and seemed rude thought maybe she was having a bad day, I went again and dealt with a different person who was friendly than the last time with Cindy again who again seemed rude, she seems like she doesn’t like her job very much and maybe should go into a job where you don’t have to deal with customers. Other pharmacies like CVS, Target, rite aid all have friendly outgoing pharmacists would recommend those Instead.

Have to be careful. Many times I have grabbed items off the shelf that were very expired. Sub par selection and quality compared to their modesto locations. Staff is always polite and willing to help you locate items. Now if they could only locate and calendar to get rid of expired items.

Love this Obrien’s market where shopping is always a pleasure. The bakery and deli are delicious, the meat and produce selection is large.
Obrien’s is clean, affordable and organized for all your shopping needs. The employees are helpful and kind always striking up a conversation which is nice because customer service is very important to me and can make or break a place.
I will be coming back to this Obrien’s as it is locally owned and I like to support local businesses.

I was surprised to find a higher end market with great meats, seafood, cheese and breads in Modesto of all places, but O’Brien’s does the job. Think Lunardi/​Whole Foods, but a bit less hoity toity, pretentious and pricey.
We got some great burger ground meat, really solid brie (much better than Safeway /​Lucky’s offering) and fresh french bread without breaking the bank. I’m a fan.

I usually hate going to any grocery store. Screaming babies awake way past their bedtimes, pushy people, long lines, snappy clerks… but for some reason, O’Briens never fails us. My experience has always been pleasant– easy parking, friendly clerks, organized and clean shelves/​aisles, and good prices. It’s our favorite reason for moving to Riverbank. Everyone is friendly and helpful and to make matters even better, we support locally owned businesses. Sure, you can get cheaper prices at Wal Mart and other big box chains, but the quality is nowhere even near what is offered here.

Love This particular Obriens because of the awesome staff, and just how it really does feel like your «neighborhood market».
All employees go out of there way to make you feel like a regular customer and especially love the folks in the Meat Dept. I only buy my bacon here. Their Platter bacon is so good, always stays thick while cooking! As well as all of the other meats like the ground beef, Italian sausage I can go on and on LOL!
At least once a week I stop in for a sandwiches for my husband. Seriously, they are SO GOOD! Make sure to get the yummy cream cheese spread with that yummy Greek seasoning they put in it. All times in the Deli department is good and I like how friendly and helpful they all are.
Only small thing that I guess I couldn’t complain to much about is, sometimes they don’t rotate items enough. I guess it was my fault for being in a huge rush while shopping. I grabbed some coffee creamer and when I got home saw that it was 5 days past it’s expiration date. Another time I bought a bag of rice and upon getting home to cook some, saw that there were small bugs in the bag.
OTHER than that, I really do love Obriens and really do prefer this family run store over the big Chains.

The staff here is great! Always very friendly and helpful, especially the bakery and deli. I love their deli selection and the sandwiches are the best and well priced! Obrien’s also has my favorite cakes and cupcakes.

Recently visited Riverbank and stopped by Obriens for some picnic supplies. This branch is much smaller than the Modesto store, but still fairly well stocked. For some reason our debit card would not work at the checkout but the cashier cheerfully called the manager who opened another register where our card worked. We found everyone to be friendly and helpful.

The staff here is just so friendly and accommodating I wish that I could tip them. I go shopping and run errands for work and end up here quite often and it’s doesn’t bother me one bit. I almost always have more than one transaction and as annoying as I’m sure it is they never let it show. I’m so thankful for this market and all of the employees I have come across.

They consistently make the most amazing sandwiches ! There deli is awesome!!! However, for some reason you can tell the lady’s really don’t like making sandwiches, kinda funny considering all there ingredients are already cut up and ready to go. Oh well, I don’t mind inconveniencing them, because there sandwiches are the BOMB!
PS. It’s all about the quality of the bread, and they will even sell you frozen rolls to take home a heat up in your oven upon request!
