The owner does not keep his word. We had an agreement for a large order. He never delivered on his end. Was he sorry the delivery was late? Not at all. Very poor customer service. Doesn’t seem to care about anything but the money. Will never do business here again!

Love the pastries from this place. But they are never open for business. Every time were in town we visit each location and all of them seem to be closed.

First time ever here. I got a loaf of bread, Apple pie, and some canoli’s. The loaf of bread was AMAZING, the pie was really really talked up and just had TOOMUCHGOOPY filling. Maybe it’s just personal but when I get an apple pie Inlike more Apple than goop in the filling. I wasn’t a big fan of the Canoli’s but my wife liked them. I think maybe I’m just not a fan of cheesecake and I guess they’re kind of like cheesecake is what I was told. Anyway… Long story short bread is amazing but be careful with the pies… For the price they charge for a pie I would’ve expected better

Hours are posted on the door and I see ads in circulars but it’s NEVER open! My parents walked in one day for breakfast and the gentleman behind the counter asked if they needed something. When they responded that they were there for breakfasts he said, «Oh, no, no. I have a wedding today I can’t make breakfast.» Why then are you advertising your business?

Turned in to the Ladd Road bakery location. It’s no longer the Roots Family fruit stand. I was surprised that the shelves were not dusty as it is a location in the middle of farms and fields. I am always trying croissants where I find them, so I purchased the croissants, buy 2 get 2 free. There was something not good about the flavor, I can’t put my finger on the taste, but it was not good. I ate 3(no other bread in the house) and finally threw the 4th out. I’ve been burping all day today and that awful taste isnt going away. I won’t be going back. The lady tending the bakery was much too chatty, bad-mouthed the Roots(whom I don’t know). She didn’t wear gloves and didn’t have a knife to slice pies and bread. Odd for a bakery.

The man who runs this bakery is an amazing guy who is motivated to make a change in his life. I would highly recommend picking up one of his delicious treats at the farmers market and talk to him for a while. You will be happy that you did it. Thank you

I enjoy picking up fresh pastries from their booth at the Rio Vista farmers market, and they make a great rosemary and olive oil bread.

Just visited this stand at the Martinez farmers market. I picked up two cheese croissants and a cannoli. Wow. Could easily eat ten of these croissants, especially the raspberry! Excellent service, delicious treats, happy customer! I will definitely be back next weekend!

We ran across this bakery at their booth at the Martinez Farmers Market. Had a lemon croissant, a caramel apple pastry and a raspberry cream cheese croissant. Fantastic! Light flaky buttery pastry and amazing flavor! LOVED the lemon — my favorite but everything was top notch. They disappeared quickly while we listened to the Blues. Will definitely look for them again, there were so many other beautiful things there!

We can’t stop coming here for pastries when we’re out and about! Usually get some kind of fruit pastry, today was a lemon croissant and caramel apple pastry both were fantastic.

Avoid! My wife just called me upset and crying. She went to get eggs with our daughter. She walked in and asked for eggs and was ignored for the next several customers to come in. Than was told they wouldn’t even go and check for eggs after making her wait the whole time.

When I go to farmers market in Lodi I have to stop by the booth… Everything is to die for and the gentleman in the booth is so friendly and outgoing. Everyone must try :)

He is at the Lodi Street fair every week. We come out just to get something. Good prices. I get something new every week. It’s all been good. The chocolate chip cookies are my favorite.

The Riverbank location is NEVER open… EVER. We went twice when we first moved to Riverbank 2 years ago and since then it’s an exercise in futility going there. It’s really ok though — the service(one middle-aged waitress who always seemed REALLY confused) was always lacking, their fountain machine never worked, and they only accepted cash. Ugh. It’s a miracle that they can even keep the store front open.

This place is a joke! The«store» is NEVER open! Why even have hours posted if you are never going to be open? The Oakdale location has said«Coming Soon» for over 2 years so not sure what they consider soon but wish they would move on and let someone else come in. Dear owners, if you can’t have the decency to be open when you say you will, at least put a note on the door saying why the heck no one is there! Not worth the drive!

Stopped by the Ladd location while on a little drive with my parents. I was looking for fruit but there wasn’t much going on that way(likely due to the time of year — Feb). Immediately noticed striking white peacock among the chickens in the pen. Apparently white peacocks are quite rare and he is one of only 20 in CA. The bakery had pies, nuts, taffy, and confections. I picked up some fresh chicken eggs laid that day for a great price. It is *CASHONLY* so please don’t be caught off guard(like I often am). Stop by and say hello to the peacock — I’ll be back.

Since my last review, the restaurant has closed and the location is primarily used to prepare for the farmers market side of their business, and for the«bakery» counter at Root Farms on Ladd Rd. The product at the Root Farms location is lacking in selection, and the pie we had purchased that«won best in show in San Francisco» was standard but I don’t see how it could have beat other bakeries.

My culinary partner-in-crime companion du jour and I drove here this morning to have breakfast here since they claim to serve a great breakfast on the weekends. We arrived only to find the restaurant locked. Everything looked completely normal: there were pastries on trays and baskets in the serving areas; you could see baked goods in racks in the restaurant serving area. Hmmmm… Everything appeared completely normal… We noticed that all the bakery trucks(except for the one that doesn’t run) were gone — which usually happens when they’re at a farmer’s market or fair: the weather is nice today… A bright, sunny morning… A great morning to luxuriate in the sunshine sipping good coffee while reading, or writing… except that isn’t happening here this morning. Then we noticed a handwritten sign on the door: «Closed today for restaurant maintenance.» Hmmmmm. Official explanation: gas leak. It is fortunate that a refrigerator starting its electric motor didn’t cause the place to explode.
