I went to this place on my day off at work because my wife wanted Sushi. We first wanted to go to a couple spots near this restaurant, however, many restaurants in the area are closed on Mondays. My wife, kid and I go into the restaurant and we were seated quickly by the server as we were the only people in the restaurant. Once we sat down, it took us a while to order because we had to get our kid situated and to be honest, we are a bit indecisive. It took us about 7 – 10 minutes to order and we were asked twice if we were ready. First by the waitress, who kindly left us to our menus after, and second by what seemed to be the owner/manager who rolled her eyes at us when we told her that we needed a few more minutes. How rude! When we were finally ready, the waitress and owner/manager came up to us and took down our order. While we were placing our orders, the manager repeated several times(at least 3) that in order to receive the lunch special, we would need to pay cash. We ended up ordering the spicy tuna tartare, 3 different rolls and chicken teriyaki bento box. The tuna tartar, had good sauce but it seemed as though the tuna was cooked or even from a can. It was not chunks of tuna and the tuna was not bright red in color. The rolls were all reminiscent of what you would typically get from a sushi buffet restaurant. The chicken teriyaki was good, but it’s nearly impossible to make bad chicken teriyaki. I would give this place 1 star because of the rude manager and the food, however, the server was super polite, the lunch price for the rolls we ordered was 50% off with cash and there is an additional 20% off your entire check if you pay cash. I guess for the amount that we paid, it was ok, however, I am definitely not coming back to this place.

Do not order from this restaurant. I placed an order at 5:46PM when it did not arrive by 7:03PM I called for the status. They ‘lost’ my order and ‘tried’ to call me, yet they had my phone number when I called them. I agreed to re-order at 7:03PM provided they could deliver in 30 minutes since I had been inconvenienced for over an hour. They refused to guarantee any deliver time. I guess they expected me to wait another hour plus for my delivery, if and when it would arrive. I cancelled the order.

VERYKIND, GREATFULANHELPFULSTAFF! Not a five star restaurant soly based on every restaurant always may improve. Waitresses are greatful EVEN when you help pass plates back so they are not reaching over. NEVERNOTWITHOUT A THANKYOU! I ordered for delivery. After waiting around for at least an hour past the estimated time for delivery and trying to give the driver directions three times, the driver tells me he sees the location but cannot find the entrance so he is going back to the restaurant. Really? That is ridiculously terrible service.

Always clean and the staff is always friendly and willing to help with anything you need. They speak Japanese or English. My family always gets sushi sashimi for 3 and it comes out beautiful with plenty to eat. The deal cannot be beat considering the 20% of Sunday thru Thursday and for the amount the meal includes.

Solid Sushi Place. Like all places in Ridgewood this is BYOB which I am always a fan of. The place itself is nothing special BUT they do have decent quality sushi, rotating fun specialty roles, and very friendly service. Price wise, its probably $ 30-$ 40 pp if you are having 2 – 3 roles. There are cheaper places in the area but this place(unlike a lot of the others) is clean, always solid, and never a crazy wait. It’s a good place to get a sushi fix in. ALSO — 20% off if you pay cash during the week.

Chinese owner, worst restaurant in Ridgewood. i would give it 0 stars if I could. food was terrible, the sushi rice was dry .fish was not fresh, plates were not clean. that was my first and last time there. very rude services, however the waitress couldn’t understand what I was saying to her. i definitely don’t recommend this place at all. there are much better place to eat in Ridgewood.

Just ordered from here tonight from Grubhub. Got the chicken teriyaki appitizer, small salad and some sushi for myself and my husband. Delivery was on time, everything packaged nicely with napkins and chopsticks and soy sauce packets. Salad was good, simple but a good size, the dressing was interesting not sure if I was really a fan of it. We got california rolls, eel($ 3 for one piece) cucumber and avacado rolls, they were all very good and they gave us quite a bit of it. Not sure if I would pay $ 3 for one piece of eel sushi though again. The chicken app was great, arrived hot with some vegetables. I would order from them again!

I ordered off of seamless and their delivery was super fast. Within 20 mins. Which, for 4:45 on a Friday night, is impressive. I order their chicken teriyaki combo box. You can tell they use cheap chicken, which is a let down. But I’m a huge fan of tempura, and it is awesome. And they have great shumai!!! I’ve been having a really hard time lately finding good shumai around here, and they really have it there. I will definitely order from here again. I think I’ll skip on the combo box and just do an order of wasabi shumai to try and the tempura and some sushi. But as far as Japanese goes, well priced and speedy delivery!!!

Although there are many sushi spots to try in Ridgewood do not pass up an opportunity to eat at Kumo. I have tried just about every sushi roll on the menu and loved them all. The fish is always fresh and the staff is attentive. The décor is unique with waved walls that look almost like fabric and a rock wall that sometimes has flowing water behind the sushi bar complete with oak trees on either side. They deliver quickly and if you dine in during lunch there is a 20% discount if you pay with cash. The attire and vibe is casual. Lunch time is pretty quiet and tends to fill up more for dinner especially during the weekend. kumo is BYO but there are liquor stores nearby. Just be warned they close every day from 3:00 — 4:00pm.

Specialty rolls are very nice. I like the salmon sashimi appetizer, must have. King crab avocado salad is good, just ask to make it spicy. Only thing I don’t like is that the wait staff always seems to interrupt by always asking if your done with your plate. They need to chill out a bit and learn to come in at the opportune time, not every couple minutes.

This is my go to for fresh sushi in Northern NJ. I’ll be it, the service isnt the best but the people are nice, they just stare too much. As for the sushi. its the freshest I and my friends have found in Northern NJ with large pieces of fish and very little rice on each roll, just the way I want it! Their simple rolls are great on their own– salmon avocado and Philadelphia rolls are musts at ever visit. Ive had their sexy girl, godzilla, new year, treasure and several other rolls. So far each is delicious in its own way, they also offer brown rice on any roll for a low price. Other restaurants sometimes charge $ 1-$ 3 more JUST for brown rice instead of white rice. I’ve had their dessert once and that was a regret, I thought it was going to be fresh but it was defrosted premade dessert and it tasted that way Overall their sushi is so good I don’t care if someone is staring or I can’t order a dessert. Im not there for either. The restaurant isn’t large but décor and atmosphere are nice for groups and dates. It gets very loud with just a few tables seated.
