A friend and I split the hibachi for two with shrimp steak and chicken. The food was not greasy like some hibachi places can be. The shrimp were fantastic and overall I enjoyed the meal.

I went here several years ago with my family and we had a few dishes with the most notable being a really bad steak habachi while the rest of the food reminded me of Mei Sushi though a bit more pricey and with nicer plates. Fast forward to today and I got bored of the usual dinner options. I ordered Chirashi from here which came with a shrimp, 2 Kani/fake crab, 3 scallop, 3 tuna, 3 of another fish that I can’t remember the name, and 3 of tuna. Of the group, I found the salmon to be the tastiest followed by the scallops. The tuna was probably the least good, mostly due to it not having a super appealing color. Glad I didn’t get a tekkadon or something similar. Nice staff. Food is OK though overpriced for quality. There isn’t much good sushi in Ridgewood or the surrounding area so yeah there is that. 2.8. I’d give this a 2.5 if I could.

Received the mailer menu about a week ago and was looking forward to trying it out one day for lunch. We called today to order, seeing that they opened at 12 and nobody answered. We tried again three more times up until about 12:10 and still no answer. Kind of nervous to try food from someplace that obviously has no prep work at the beginning of the day if nobody was answering. Won’t be on the top of my list to try but may order in the future, IF they ever pick up the phone.

Gyoza and Spring rolls were sodden with greasy, rancid oil. The fried rice and chicken and fish that came with the order was also cooked in the same foul smelling oil. Had to leave the food untouched, it was disappointing. Do not eat here, the potential for food poisoning is too high.

Passable versions of the simplest american style of Chinese food. I ordered sesame chicken and got a mixed bag of softish and hard chicken with a teaspoonful of sesame seeds dumped on top of the served chicken. The individual pieces weren’t covered on their own. Friendly, inexpensive, but not good if you want to impress someone.

This used to be my favorite place in Ridgewood … new management has ruined the place. I found a hair UNDER my sushi, brought to attention of waitress quietly and all of a sudden 3ppl come out to tell me it’s mine. For what, only to seemingly embarrass me?!? ‘Fred’ was extremely rude and disrespectful, told me they all had ‘dark hair’ so couldn’t be anyone there’s — hmm thanks so do I! Won’t ever be back after 10 years.

First time going to this place last night with a big party, and got a chance to sample many different dishes. The service was fast and courteous. The wide range of Asia food selection means everyone can order dishes they preferred. The sashimi lover was amazing! so was the Kanu salad. Both Chinese and southeastern dishes were made with authentic tastes. As a Asian American and picky with my Asian food, this place satisfied my taste buds greatly! Highly recommend this place and will bring my family next week!

Went to Gen on a Monday night. My wife ordered tuna sushi thy she said did not taste fresh. I ordered chicken and broccoli in garlic sauce. The meal and as bright out to me and the sauce was warm and the chicken was cold which mak s me think it’s premade. I told the waiter and he just took it back to kitchen brought it back out was a little warmer but the chicken felt chewy which make me think they microwaved it. Don’t waste your time or money here there are better alternatives.

I ordered delivery from this place and didn’t have enough money for tip. The delivery guy proceeded to ASK me for tip. It was extremely rude and he put me in an embarrassing position where I had to explain I didn’t have enough money. Other than that I really enjoy their sushi

We walked out of Gen after an awful first impression, didn’t bother ordering any food. Red flags — Was practically empty on a Saturday night — Greeted with silence and a «talk to the hand» gesture by the host, wouldn’t even acknowledge us til he finished counting $ w/a waiter. — My girlfriend asked for hibachi, host replied with«there’s seating but its busy, why not sit at a regular table instead?» — Upon seating us at a regular table, we overheard patrons say«we’ve been waiting forever», «told you we should’ve went to the other place» and«how do you mess up edamame?» — Found a fly in the water We decided to cut our losses at that point and check out another restaurant.

Went for team lunch. Most of us ordered hibachi lunch and let me tell you the portions were really generous. For hibachi lunch the chef would do some antics and will do some stunts — he made smiley face with oil to start of it. Then he made a heart from the rice he mixed in front of us. The only thing which I didn’t like is they use the same pan for mixing all the meat but that is just me. The servers are friendly apart from one who tried pushing us to only order hibachi lunch and he would make funny faces when people would order from regular menu and not go with his recommendation. I ordered chicken teriyaki from the lunch menu and it was good.

We stumbled upon this place after the Thai place we love was closed. It ended up being a pleasant experience. Not a sushi connoisseur, I enjoyed the sweet potato sushi that we ordered. The winning dish is the whole snapper which my husband enjoyed. My lamb chops could have been a little more tender but I still ate them. It’s a safe standby.

AVOID!!! The place is filthy, it smells bad, and the food is barely edible. I should be surprised that it’s doors haven’t been closed, but then again, it is in Bergen County, NJ… Where mediocre restaurants flourish. I am convinced that a prerequisite for living in Bergen County is to have your taste buds demolished… Ugh

We should have known by how empty the restaurant was to stay away! The«sushi» was awful. It was completely covered in spicy sauce and mushed up so we could not even tell what kind of fish it was. We will not be returning.

Do not eat at this restaurant, the food is horrendous and the tables are dirty. After we ordered our food someone came out for a ingredient for the one of the dishes that we had ordered, mind you the place was completely empty so we knew it was for us, he came out with headphones in his ears and had a hoodie on, for someone who is handling food he is obviously not dressed properly, we payed so much money for garbage

This place answers the ancient question, ‘hum. I wonder how food poisoning tastes?’ The sushi is terrible; the appetizers are either bland or are just thrown in a batter of salt; the chicken was raw at best. But wait, what’s that? Oh it’s salmonella. Hello, good friend! In conclusion, don’t go there.

Rip off. I paid 27 bucks for udon noodle soup and sesame chicken and you could taste that the sesame chicken had come right out of a microwave. If you are going to charge that much, use a wok or at least find a way for it to taste like it just came from a wok. Dazzle me. Please. Hanami in westwood charges less for their sesame chicken and let me tell you, the quality is leaps and bounds better. As far as sushi goes, I dont eat it so I couldnt tell you whether or not this is the place to go for sushi.

The bland sushi would normally have earned a 2-star review, but the servers messing up the order and barely knowing what we were saying drop it to 1-star. They offered to get the correct roll afterwards, but we’d have to wait, when we declined and didn’t eat the incorrect roll, they charged the normal amount like they weren’t the ones who were wrong! Really, there isn’t anything nice to say about this place except that the sushi was just tasteless and didn’t taste terrible. Sadly that’s the best I could come up with. Avoid this place.
