This place takes the cake for Ridgefield delis!
Service: There were two men working when I went after the lunch rush. I didn’t know what I wanted so they politely let me look at the menu. One of the men took my order and made it clear substitutions weren’t an issue. While waiting for my sandwich the other man made sure I had been helped.
Food: I can’t speak for the hot food bar/​prepared foods since I only ordered sandwiches but the meats/​cheeses for the sandwiches are made to order. My mom ordered the Clucken. The chicken was made after ordering vs. from a heating tray resulting in an incredibly sandwich (I took a few bites). I ordered the Roasted Turkey with no cheese and like the Clucken, the bacon was cooked after ordering and the deli meat was freshly slicked. The ciabatta bread held up really well in both sandwiches. The bread wasn’t soggy from the hot food either which is a huge plus in my book.
I wish this place got more love!

Really tasty food at a fair price. Chicken francese with rice and veggies was delicious. Sandwiches, soup and salads, too. A great neighborhood deli.

Definitely my favorite deli in a 10 mile radius. Gluten free options, amazing omelettes, and delicious hash browns. Frank, Edwin and the girls are always quick friendly and eager to serve. Reasonable prices too. I come here so often I have their number saved in my phone!

As a native New Yorker I couldn’t believe how good this place is. Best bacon, egg and cheese in CT., and I am pretty sure the bagels come from lower NY. absolutely amazing, and the taff is always friendly and the service is always quick!

Food quality continues to be the main driver behind this local gem. The delightful staff rounds it all out to make it an overall fun experience !

Had lunch here today. Based on the plethora of 5 star reviews, I was anticipating a restaurant that I would be profoundly thrilled to have discovered. What I found, however, was a fairly ordinary deli sandwich joint.
The sandwiches might be very good, and I’ll go back and try one. But today, the handful of customers were in line for the hot food counter which offered up chicken Parm, sesame roasted chicken, vegetables, rice… You get the idea.
So I joined in. I had a little bit of everything. And everything was OK. Nothing stood out. And unfortunately, nothing was any warmer than tepid. Lukewarm. When food is sitting out like this, it should be hot.
So I am giving a realistic 3 stars. Though I wasn’t «disappointed», there is no way this qualifies as a five star joint, even with expectations significantly adjusted down to the level of «please let it just be better that the other delis in town.»

Wonderful meals and salads cooked on premises and ready to go. Incredible chicken dishes so tender you don’t need a knife. Don’t miss the chocolate chip cookies. They are worth the calories!

Best hot sandwiches in Ridgefield. Frank is a top notch chef, and sandwich artist. They have incredible options from the grilled steak with onions, Gouda, and a garlic mayo on great bread to The chicken cutlet with olives, hot peppers, and provelone is phenomenal. The chicken scarp and chicken piccata dishes are high end restaurant quality. I go there 4x a week! Excellent customer service overall

I have eaten here a couple of times over the past two months. Excellent deli with good selection of sandwiches, wraps, meats, and salads (pasta, meat, and regular). The staff is always very friendly no matter what time you come in or how busy they are. The food is excellent and made to order. Portion sizes are average to above average for a deli depending on what you order. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. For a single person for lunch with a sandwich, drink, and small container of pasta the price is usually around $ 15.00. But it’s real food instead of processed garbage that you’d get at a fast food chain. Worth the little extra $$ in my opinion. Will continue to return.

This is a solid deli. Totally surprised. Chicken cutlets are made in house. Friendly staff.

Found this little gem one Saturday afternoon while scoping out a local running store. I had the BLT and A sandwich (bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado) and hubby had the Balboa which was roast beef (Philly cheesesteak style) in garlic bread. WOW, they were both delicious! Each sandwich was packed with layers of flavor. We also shared a tomato and cucumber salad and a chocolate chip cookie that was, literally, larger than hubby’s head.
We arrived about 2:30. Although they close at 3 PM on Saturdays, they were kind enough to let us eat there. We never felt pressure to hurry up or scarf down our food. In fact, we had some lovely conversation with the gentleman that prepared our sandwiches. Apparently he’s the chef two days a week at a local restaurant in Sandy Hook called the The Foundry. If his sandwiches are any indication of his other cooking talents than I can’t wait to check out The Foundry!

Good portions and freshly cooked. I always order grilled chicken with lettuce, tomato, roasted red peppers. They will make you anything even if it is not on the menu. The chicken is cooked to order right in front of you and they do it quickly. Friendly guys and good food = excellent deli.

The BEST deli in a 40 mile radius. This is everything a Deli should be. Slightly hidden location off of Rt. 7, but this place will not disappoint. The owner here is a Chef, and he knows his food and takes pride in the food experience. Everything is made in house. Lot’s of fresh hot food during the week and many choices for sandwiches. An interesting variety of sauces and dressings for sandwiches that can take any sandwich up a few notches. The vibe is exactly what you’re looking for in a deli… the guys are friendly and helpful. Lastly, they cater… I’ve used them a few times, and they have exceeded my expectations. Next time you’re in Ridgefield you can’t miss the opportunity to stop in here.

Great food. Sooooo good! This place is a diamond in the rough. It’s sadly tucked away in a corner so not may people see them. But if you’re near, head in. It’s not super fast, but the sandwich coming is worth the wait. It’s all done in front of you. The workers here are friendly, always willing to chat and are extremely polite. Try it!
MUST HAVE: The Clucken… delicious!

I love What’s Cooking! The Balboa, the BLT&A, the breakfast sandwiches… All great! The staff is so friendly and the prices are average for the area. This place is great!

A no-​nonsense sandwich place that makes manly sandwiches. I stopped in while shopping at Kilometers (next door) and an excellent, freshly made sandwich. Beats the pants off of Subway.
Don’t be in a rush… good sandwiches take time to make, and this was no exception. With 2 people in front of me, it took a full 15 minutes to order and obtain my sandwich.

Awesome! Was just passing through town during lunch and stumbled onto this place, glad I did. I had the pulled pork Asian style on ciabatta bread — fantastic! Really glad to find a deli that makes everything in house.

I love this place! The curry chicken salad is better than whole foods! Not a lot of delis have avocado in their sandwiches, so was pleasantly surprised, and it wasn’t expensive. Definitely recommend!
