I love coming to Nacho Mammas. The plate of chicken nachos I get is huge! And I always walk out full and happy. The outside patio and upstairs tables are my favorite spots to eat there.

The food has a long way to go at this place. We stopped in yesterday for the Monday Margarita’s and they were great but the girl behind the bar was rude and unprofessional. I felt like we were a burden and taking her away from her conversation with coworkers. Not a place I would recommend

This place was highly recommended by a local professional. Without a doubt this was delicious from margaritas to full course dinner! If Mexican food is what your craving… rush here. Great service inside and outside seating and they do get packed!

My friends and I made the trip around 345pm(the first time out of bed all day, slightly hungover) needing chips, salsa and guac. It took us a while to be seated but since we all work in the industry we recognized that they had just been slammed before their evening staff got in. We sat outside and our waiter met us about 8 minutes later. He was clearly flustered and in the weeds, having a completely packed patio and downstairs section, from the looks of it there were only two servers on at the time. Things moved slowly and kind of out of order BUT, our margaritas were strong and our food was delicious as always. Sam was very polite and funny even though he was so busy. Happy hour on Sunday was a surprise and a mega plus. We will definitely be back! Hang in there Sam!

It’s my go to Mexican spot. They have been open for as long as I can remember. I go to get my Queso Cheese Dip fix! Always good. In the spring it is always nice to grab a table out on the patio.

Visited this place last night in hopes to find great margaritas and decent Mexican food. The service was good(even though we were seated at the first table by the door and I felt the cold breeze every time someone left the restaurant) however, the food and drinks were just ok. Nothing about the food or drinks were different or spectacular enough for me to return. The place is very pricey too. The tab was $ 62 and some change for two, that included: a large drink, a small drink(both margs), two Macho man burritos, and the Coco Loco Shrimp app(the one thing that was really good now that I think about it, the mango salsa complimented it well. However, it still wasn’t good enough for me to go back given that was only an app and came with four pieces of shrimp). I figured for the price of the tab I could’ve dressed up and went somewhere more upscale with an ambiance like CoopersHawk or Boat House instead where I could’ve paid the same price for drinks, meal for two, and an app and it be worth it. I don’t think Nacho Mamas has great enough food to be so pricey. I’m not a cheapskate and I don’t mind paying for great food(I consider myself a foodie) but I was disappointed in the overall experience of the food especially for the price. In my opinion, Chicken Fiesta has BETTER Mexican food than this place and it’s much more reasonably priced! Management should definitely reconsider pricing as I think this is a deterrent for returning customers. I don’t think I’ll be returning. I’m happy I got to experience this restaurant though to form my own opinion even though I kind of wish I took heed to the reviews before going.

We went here after a brew tour. It was especially nice since it was warm, and we got to sit on the patio. There was nothing super spectacular, but it was good. The service was good. It’s pretty much the same as any other Tex Mex restaurant. I’m sure we’ll stop in again if we are in the area and craving chips and salsa.

Stopped in here after a long day of Halloween costume shopping, and the tacos really hit the spot! My only complaint is that the space is quite cramped and dark, but the fact that our server very super friendly and attentive made up for any discomfort we may have felt!

I always order the steak chimichanga and my wife orders the fajita quesadilla. It is always very flavorful! The rice and beans are just okay. I would give it a four if the hours were consistent.

The food was ok. The service was fine, but nothing was great. It’s a neat a place to eat with the tables being in different rooms organized like that of a house, but the food didn’t have a lot of flavor like most Mexican restaurants.

My fajita quesadillas were so great and big and fresh. We also had the tamales and those were fantastic — plus the service was very friendly. 4 stars only because I thought it was a little pricey.

Very pleased with the service, food and drinks! All above average! We had tacos and an enchilada, with refried beans and Spanish rice– all very authentic !! The only negative– it was warm upstairs! And the fan was just not keeping us cool enough!

The food quality is far worse than Taco Bell. I forgot why I avoided this place, but was reminded that it always gives me a stomachache among other things. The tomatoes and lettuce in my taco salad were about to rot and you could taste that the ground beef was extremely poor quality. I couldn’t even finish my meal. The next time I think about giving it another shot, I will read this Unilocal review.

About a 2.5, but rounding to a 3 because their drinks are super strong and service is very good. My friends and I came here as part of a kick of to a weekend bachelor’s party. Because the inside is pretty small and was full, we opted for a seat on the patio, which ended up being a nice choice. Our server was genuinely friendly and quick, but the food– as I had remembered from a previous experience– was overpriced and bland. It’s about twice as expensive as most Mexican places but the food is glorified fast food, doesn’t taste authentic to me at all. The margaritas help redeem the food somewhat. One big margarita and that’s enough to have me wired. They make those suckers strong! Next time I’m only coming for margs. Great spot, though, right in the heart of Carytown.

The food was average, they do have a great selection of nachos but the service was odd. I have never been to a restaurant with such a friendly staff yet at the same time not that good at actually waiting on their tables. We came at dinner they were a little busy outside but not so much inside and we also with a party of five had a 20% gratuity added so be aware because I would not have tipped that with the service we received…

This establishment was subpar, it looks deceptively small from the outside and even downstairs but the upper level is quite comfortably-sized. Though we did go at peak hours, that still doesn’t make up for the lackluster service and bland food. The la Juanita burrito was so small that I lost all will to eat it. The cheese enchilada was made with cheddar cheese from food lion or something. the Spanish rice tasted terribly stale and the beans were dissatsifying. Fajita quesadilla, though large and in-charge, wasn’t made to my acceptable standards; it was almost like a giant hard-shell taco. Also, the hot wings came with just 7 pieces with a pale salad in the middle; when it came down to it, its a dollar per wing plus a $ 1 salad and 50¢ ranch/blue cheese(getting both costs extra) The final point is that the service wasn’t so great. Though I felt they were very friendly and genuine, we were mostly left to our own accord. The noise level downstairs greatly outweighed the upstairs level. From basically a downtown bar to a fine dining establishment. Just no consistency at all for that other than the fact that it felt like training camp for Cancun vacations or WASP retirement lifestyles. The rational person in me would say that trying this place again is good quality assurance. But the emotionally distraught person in me is trying to make sure I don’t get food poisoning…

Briskness of porch seating warmed by fiery depth of fresh salsa. Cowboy Quesadilla packs heat as treat. Chicken, jalapeño, and bacon indulge in a shoot-out of old Mexico and real Americana. Excellent paired with a convenient happy hour and happy, attentive service.

My wife picked this place because we were at Garden Grove and she was starving. You’d be better off taking a bottle of Tequila to LA Cabana or even a Chipoltle. Had better TeX mex in college on Mexican night. Service was good

Went here about a week ago with a friend and it definitely exceeded my expectations. Arrived at 6 pm on a Friday and it was very empty; normally this would be a warning sign, though it turned out to just be good luck. Our server was extremely nice, made sure we were fine, and made great suggestions(had the queso, and you should too!). With great food, great service, and good deals, I see no reason not to make coming here a routine! RETURNTRIP: It was quite busy, and while I feel our server was more concerned with getting us out to free up a table, she was still very attentive. The food is still good and cheap, and I steered clear of the poor mixed drinks this time around. CAUTION, the cowboy quesadillas are incredibly hot, believe it! Overall: 4.0 — — — — — — – Pros: –CHEAP!!! The food is well-priced and extremely affordable. Use a Campus Special coupon(or download the Campus Special app and use the coupon in it) and it gets even cheaper(BOGO entrees!). –Great service. The gentleman who served us knew what he was doing, made timely callbacks, and in general made the experience that much better. –Food was stellar and very filling. Definitely worthy of regular visits! Cons: –Their rail liquors are really rough. If you want a good mixed drink, you’ll have to pay for better liquor. As a former bartender I can tell you: you get what you pay for! Maybe just get a beer instead. :) –Bottom floor’s small size means you will have a lot of foot-traffic passing by your table. So long as you aren’t seeking a private dinner or discussing nuclear secrets, you won’t be bothered much by it, though.
