My American-born Indian friend blessed me by taking me here. I miss their Palak paneer every time I think of this place! The Palak was spiced so well. The perfect kind that starts subtle and builds in presence and satisfaction. I’m looking forward to taking my husband back with me.

After 2 consecutive Lyft drivers from Bangladesh told us to visit Spice and Rice, we just had to go! This is one of those small hole in the wall places that you know has some of the best homemade food. Our appetites increased as the smell of delicious Indian spices wafted into the small dining room from the kitchen. I have not had a lot of Indian/Bangladesh food, so I’m not super knowledgable about it, but I really really enjoyed the food here. My boyfriend ordered the beef curry and I ordered the butter chicken. The butter chicken was excellent and I ate almost all of it! The beef was okay, although my boyfriend really liked it. The guy behind the counter was super friendly and gave us free desert! It was some sort of noodle, pistachio, coconut pudding I think. Also, the prices here are pretty reasonable. You get plenty of food for about $ 8. Something that bothered me was the self serve water pouring station because my glass had visible finger prints all over it and it didn’t seem to be clean. The water was room temperature and had visible dust floating in it.

Let’s begin with making one thing clear; this food isn’t authentic India food, nor is it authentic anything food. You could consider a contemporary twist but that would be on you to decide. The food portions weren’t too bad, and the rice side was plentiful, but the naan they provide isn’t enough for the amount of gravy in a dish, especially due to its, or lack of, thickness. The Butter Chicken was very mild and tomato-y and it didn’t sway towards a sweeter Indian version or flavor packed Pakistani kind. It was just bland, but an alright portion for $ 8. The Chicken 65 was noticeably more favorable with a little less meat. It had a lot of onions and vegetable to add to it, as well as an abundance of Chillis. The dish was so spicy I couldn’t handle it, and I’ve dealt with spice before. But the massive Chillis slices don’t help. This place needs a good overhaul before they can get good, but they might have chance over time.

Excellent Indian and Bangladeshi food in the town. We eat here regularly. Chicken roast and goat kachchi biryani are great. I’ll recommend to my friends.

Good quality food with solid taste and spice. The Vegetable Samosa had the taste that you would expect, but I found them to not be very crisp. The Pan Fried Okra is surprisingly tasty(because it looks like such a simple preparation), with the nice spice that they have somehow tucked into it(the level of ghee certainly doesn’t hurt either). The Chana Masala is also solid, and my wife felt that there was a slight smokey taste that she found interesting. The Basmati Rice is very good with a wonderful flavor and perfect texture. The Naan is amazing and fluffy with a nice solid but not charred base. The restaurant was very clean. The staff was friendly. We will be going back again.

These guys make the best chicken tikka masala I’ve ever had. Generous portions for the price too! Yesterday I went in for a Chana masala, and it straight up made me cry. Maybe it was because it was so spicy, but maybe it was just that good :)

Was craving some Indian food for lunch and saw this on Unilocal. The restaurant is in a Chinese plaza so inside the restaurant there are some Chinese elements in terms of décor. The restaurant is an order at the counter type restaurant, so in terms of service you should expect it to be very limited. Self serve water, masala chai tea, silverware’s… As I came in most of the tables were filled with plates from previous customers. And there really is only one worker managing the dining area of the restaurant. Food wise. I had a potato cutlet, which was good, but it was cold. For my main entrée I wanted to try the butter chicken. Butter chicken was average, nothing special or memorable. It is a bit on the greasy side, and so is the rice that came with it. Food pricing is good, relatively affordable and cheap.

If i could give them 0 stars i would. I really wanted to like this place but the way I was treated was UNACCEPTABLE! Here’s how my experience was: I went saturday night with two friends to eat there. So after we placed our order the cashier guy asked us if we are from Mexico and after we said yes the guy rudely turn our order to the kitchen. I have no idea why he gave us a horrible attitude and he even almost threw our drinks to us. Honestly, i been in many other indian restaurants and this is the first time this happens. Besides being a mexican im also a customer and i feel that this place did not received a penny from me. As a customer i deserved to be respected and no matter what race Iam IMSTILL A CUSTOMER!!! I WONTBEBACK!

My friend and I were in the area and figured we’d get some tasty south Asian treats considering the Unilocal ratings and reviews. It seems we weren’t as lucky as other diners. We ordered veggie samosas, butter chicken, and malai kofta with sides of rice and naan. While there, we saw it was byob so I ran to get us a bottle of wine. I came back to our food served and two dirty flutes for our wine. The person at the counter told my friend they were clean, that they use them all the time, but the glasses were obviously dirty and even sticky. We opted for bottled water, sadly. As for the food, the samosas were a little overcooked but had good flavor and spice. The butter chicken and kofta sauces were greasy. The butter chicken sauce in particular was very tomatoey and not in a good way. The koftas weren’t terrible but they weren’t great. The chicken was flame broiled for a nice touch, but a tad tough. The rice was a little watery and didn’t have a lot of flavor. I get that it is used to balance the spiciness of the entrees, but a little salt goes a long way. We ate what we could and called it a day. The food sat heavily in our bellies for awhile. I don’t think we’ll be going back anytime soon.

We visited spice n rice for weekdays dinner. I am vegetarian and ordered veg biryani which was bad in taste and I felt it was not fresh. Mix veg curry with naan was made up of mainly potatoes. Naan was good and fresh. My friends ordered chicken and shrimp biryani, with Pomfret fish and Chicken boti and they did not like any dish except fish which they also felt was not very fresh. Only thing we liked was naan and salad provided in start of course. Free wifi and old Bollywood songs could not help me giving good rating. 1 star

This very simple restaurant puts forth a small but solid offering. I had goat curry that blended a spicy flavor with just the right amount of heat. The goat was neither too lean or fatty. This was served with a choice of rice or naan, which I selected, but wished I would have selected rice to assure I would be able to enjoy every drop of curry sauce). My lunch partner order the chicken tandoori which ended up to be two chicken leg/thigh quarters. More than enough for another lunch. This chick was good but not the hit that the curry was. On a negative note, the restaurant had a strange(sewer) odor.

Got a craving for Chinese food but decided on a whim to eat here as we drove around the Chinatown parking lot. So glad we did! This place is awesome. It’s not a full service restaurant, but feel free to tip a few bucks because they do bring you water and clean up your plates. Order at the counter and get an already ready samosa to eat while your food cooks. We ordered one samosa, a beef kabob wrap, and butter chicken curry with naan. All of this came out to be fifteen bucks! If you think about it, if you go get fast food at say McDonald’s or Chick fil a, for two meals you are going to spend almost the same amount. So good deal. And portions are good. The wrap was ginormous. Pretty much two wraps. Not sure how it tasted cuz I got too full. The naan… was probably the best I’ve had. No burnt spots and no crumbly sections. It’s thick and fluffy and generously buttered. Amazing. Chicken curry was really good as an entrée and a dip for the bread. We ordered spicy and I was a little apprehensive as to whether it would be too spicy. But it was a good level(not crazy ridiculous like Lao/Thai food). I am EXTREMELY picky about my chicken and therefore always hesitant to order it. You know that aftertaste chicken leftovers develop overnight in the fridge? Well I can sometimes taste that taste before the chicken even becomes a leftover. But thankfully did not detect that horrible taste. The place is clean and service is friendly. There is absolutely no reason not to try this place. Go now!

Consistently great food at a great price. This is the place for my Saag Paneer and Naan fix. The saag is a bit on the tomato side but you can ask for modifications. Buttered Chicken seems to be a favorite of customers as well.

This is not Indian Food! This Bangladeshi food! They need to change their sign and speak the truth! This place is horrible! Food is pricey and it tastes really bad! Horrible service and Horrible food. Yes its cheap but the restaurant is dirty and not maintained. Everything I ordered was not fresh and did not have that feel of fresh restaurant food. Plus if you do some research you will see that they are expensive compared to their competitors that actually offer better food. I had to walk up and order my food when the server clearly took the orders of those that were dressed in business professional. I felt very comfortable by his behavior and his manager who after asking for water 5 times finally said«get them some water before they die here» He said it Hindi and I understood. It was rude because I was with my grandmother who is clearly just wanted water and he wouldn’t give us any. The restaurant was not very active while I was there… There were two other parties sitting in the booth. I told the server that nothing they served was spicy when I clearly stated I wanted everything spicey… The chicken tasted old! The waiter said yes chicken stuff here is pretty bad and he mentioned do not order chicken lollipop ever! If you like dirty restaurants with horrible service… and managers that say rude things to your face then this is the place for you! Better place with Bangladeshi food is Chameli Restauant… if you are looking for that Bangla kick in flavor. DONOTGOHERE!

This is a great place for some yummy, reasonably-priced Indian food. Ordered me a chicken curry lunch combo with three orders of naan bread for take-out. The chicken curry was $ 6.99 and I got a pretty decent sized portion. Great price for the entrée, but the extra naan bread was a little steep — two extra orders cost me almost 3 bucks. Even so, for around $ 11, I got me enough food to last at least two meals(keep in mind, I am a tiny Asian chick). The food itself tasted great. The curry was well seasoned — a great blend of flavors and spices. Chicken was tender and not overly dry. They don’t skimp on how much chicken they give you either. I would prefer it to be a tiny bit spicier, but I tend to like my food really spicy. The naan bread was crispy around its outer edges, but soft and fluffy inside — yum. I would probably come here more often if my absolute favorite place for Indian cuisine(Silver Spoon) wasn’t less than 5 minutes away. IMO, Silver Spoon’s food has a bit more depth to it, flavor-wise, and is ever-so-slightly cheaper as well. Maybe next time I’ll come for their butter chicken.
