This is the best place EVER! Found the most beautiful small trees perfect for my home. The staff so SO helpful and overwhelmingly nice. I stayed for at least 45 minutes chatting about what maybe good for my New York City apartment. The women in the herb section took me around to all the different flowering herbs and gave great advice. Then a women at the cash rep showed me some seeds I may like talking with such a beautiful voice it enriched my experience. Really cool find, I’ll be coming by every time I’m in the area for sure!

One of my friends who has not only green thumbs but green hands and green arms has been recommending The Phantom Gardener to me for years. Tired of seeing the same types of perennial bulbs in every single big box garden center (and even Adams to some extent), I finally visited. Autumn isn’t necessarily the best time to visit, as they close shop for the winter, but there were lots of discounts on shrubs and plants and in-​stock items as well as beautiful mums all over the place. I particularly liked their focus on native plants and butterfly garden plants.
The inside was nice too, with a little bit of everything. As far as bulbs, their selection was limited, but they did have at least one type of shade-​loving perennial bulbs I had not found elsewhere. I was also looking for a shade loving houseplant, and they again had several types on sale. Upstairs they have a small bookstore and bird feeder supplies, including the type of squirrel-​proof bird feeder I’d like to get if I ever want to replace my old one.
