If you looking for a quick fresh burrito fix California Tortilla will do. First off what you get here is nothing like what you get in California. Some pros are the awesome hot sauce wall where you can choose from over 50 different bottled hot sauces. Everything is super fresh and they make you meal pretty quick. The pico de gallo like house salsa is fresh and tasty. Prices are pretty good and usually they have coupon for free taco or queso if your into queso. Some cons is overall it’s not very good at being California Mexican Korean hybrid or whatever it is. But if your in a tough spot and it’s the only thing resembling Mexican food within 10 minutes it will do.

This place is probably going to get shut down sometime soon, because it does not seem like they get a lot of business. They make pretty«meh» burritos. Chipotle for some reason is always better for me… more filling, and less rice. The burritos here are about 8 $ and 50% rice. I had the Screamin Cali chicken burrito. It was a little bit dry and my biggest complaint is how much rice they stuffed in was edible though and filled me up. There was one other couple dining in at about 7:30 pm on a Wed night. The place was a little dirty, but the guy was already cleaning up like the restaurant would be slow till they closed(at 10PM). Everything so far earned one star… Now for the other star, i am a big hot sauce fan. I was able to take about 3 differnet hot sauces to go in little solo cups for my takeout burrito. I found one sauce i really liked. The Tres Hermanos Habanero sauce was really good! I fact that they have a bunch of hot sauces you can try on your food earns another star from me. My Take: Go here if you are around North Point Village in Reston, VA. Only if you are really close by. If you are craving a burrito, Chipotle is definitely in your better interest. however if you are a fan of hot sauce, you may want to check it out during lunch or something and try different hot sauces from their«wall». Will i be back? Probably NOT, unless i’m stuck in that area and want a «Half-Hearted Burrito Experience».

This place is disgusting, I orders a Borito bowl just after taking my first bate I notice a long piece of human hair in my plate I went to the counter to complain about this, the person at the counter Oscar seems not to care about it and two girls in the kitchen speaking Spanish loudly and laughing about what just happened it’s like this is normal for this place, just check your food before you swallow all of the their disgusting hair

Delicious! I love mexican food and they make amazing ones. Although the food does seem to lean on the salty side. That’s totally just my opinion. I love the burritos and the bowl, but the korean bbq tastes nothing like korean bbq lol just sayin! I’d choose california tortilla over chipotle!

Back in the day in Arlington when California Tortilla was the new king on the block and when I later worked in Chinatown, I was a frequent patron of both locations. Now, I live in Reston. I’ve been to the Fair Lakes California Tortilla and now have frequented the Reston spot quite a bit. This location just sucks. Terrible customer services, terrible food presentation, terrible preparation. I just not a fan of the burritos which tend to be 85% rice and I’m not exaggerating. Seriously poor delivery. Whether I order a burrito with chicken or steak there struggles to be at least five small prices of either protein. The Korean BBQ they attempt is pretty awful. Terrible implementation. I am usually satisfied with a single fish taco though and I’ve gotten guacamole once that wasn’t 75% tomatoes. So, there can be a positive. But, this location Just isn’t consistent. The chain overall was at one time progressive but, they sold out to a low quality corporate formula that is saddening. The last re-brand was a joke. Find a Chipotle or a Moe’s if you want better fast casual American Tex-Mex.

Love cali tort but not this location. I’ve been here a handful of times and every time the«wall of flame» only has about 50% of the hot sauces available. It also is a lot messier behind the counter than most locations. Food taste good though

Love California Tortilla. Moved away from the DC area for about 10 years, this one ws one of the few things I was looking forward to when I moved back! First stop for dinner. Much, Much, Much better than any other fast service burrito place.

My husband and I were hungry. We were in the area and we had a buy one get one coupon. That’s why we were willing to try this new place we’ve never been to and we regret the decision… It was about 5 o’clock on Monday afternoon and the restaurant had one person eating there. We should have known… We ordered a Korean bulgogi burrito bowl and another burrito bowl(not sure what my husband ordered. I didn’t even bother trying). The employees their were nice and place was clean. They provide wide variety of hot sauces so I was happy until I got what I ordered. The portion was somewhat small and good was very wet. Their was so much sauce it was so salty. I wish there was more rice so I could actually eat it but there was so little. After the first bite, I asked for lids and a bag and we packed both of our dishes.(We didn’t wanna just throw them away in front of the nice employees…) We brought it home only to throw them away. Well we’ve learned our lesson. Never again.

I stopped by here on a lazy Sunday where I didn’t feel like preparing any food but I certainly wanted to eat it. There’s something about chain restaurants that makes it particularly difficult to stand out above the pack. That said, this particular California Tortilla didn’t really do that for me. I stepped out of my box and got a Chicken Bacon Club burrito, which, aside from the tortilla shell, in no way made me think burrito. It was kind of «m’eh» and I think that had I stuck to a more traditionally themed burrito, I would have been happier. I feel like the burrito was missing something. I’m not sure what… it was tasty, but it wasn’t exactly what I wanted. I’ll definitely be back because I love the California Tortilla — I haven’t found the location that completely turns me off, although it’s been a while since I was overly impressed.

Good place for street tacos. Tried a few while in town on business, actually the name caught my attention. It seemed like a clean and quick place to grab a bite. The tacos were pretty good, tried a few different ones.

I’ve always like California Tortilla. The blackened chicken Caesar is a favorite. Joining their Tort Club card whatever is great, I get discounts every other visit. Then they have kids eat free nights! I’m a fan. To the complainers… you’re just being picky. They have a nice variety that other burrito joints don’t have and the best hot sauce selection that I’ve ever seen.

Just avoid and don’t waste your time. What is with the add on pricing? I just wanted a southwest salad, but it a $ 1 here and there for beans, chicken, blackened chicken, cheese, etc. Why is it so complicated! The salad I ended up getting was okay, nothing special. The lettuce and ingredients seemed fresh. I asked for the honey lime dressing, which was nasty. So I traded it for simple ranch. I’m not sure why this was perceived as an offended gesture, but I was given ranch while the lady made a comment to who I presumed was the manager in a different language. He just stared at me and it was awkward. I could get a better salad as service from McDonalds and for a better price! I would have given them one star, but I went with two because I was impressed with the hot sauce collection!

Pretty disappointing, considering what you pay for. I ordered the fish tacos, which were ok, but swimming in sauces. What was really noticeable, though was the lack of any extras, such as beans and rice, for example, something that their closest competitor, Baja Fresh, offers with most meals. I’ll stick with Baja.

I’ve been to several California Tortilla’s in the area using the great free coupons I got from Unilocal event last year. Of all the ones, I’ve been to, this was the worst. First, the cashier could barely speak English, and was just plain unfriendly. When another employee came over to help her, since the cashier clearly had no idea what she was doing, the second employee started to help her, then got distracted when one of her friends walked in and began a long conversation in Spanish. All while I was still waiting for them to actually get my order. The meal was equally disappointing– I had the mesquite chicken nachos, which ended up being a small bowl of tortilla chips with different lumps of ingredients piled in the corners, none of which were particularly fresh. Every other CalTor I have been to is better than this one.

I like their burrito bowls and large selection of hot sauces. They serve the burritos with a twist(e.g BBQ or Ranch dressing) and it makes them tasty.

Like Steve, I was an Asian with a coupon to burn. Like Jake… well no, I think pedestrian’s pretty generous. You’d have better luck at Qdoba at Worldgate, and I don’t even really like them either. My burrito ended up watery and unappetizing; by the last bite I was sad that I was eating to live and not living to eat. I think I could’ve done just as well with a tin of beans and a tortilla in the dark. I should end this review before it turns into a dutch oven joke.

1 star for awesome variety of melt your butt hot sauces! But Chipotle is nearby and 20x better. You already know this. What really irked me was my last experience here: The cashier didn’t know how to handle a coupon and it actually took about 10 minutes just to ORDER. It was a B1G1 coupon but we had 3 orders. So finally I just separated them into an order of 2 and a separate order for 1 in order to help her. She had to ask for my order multiple times and came up with different burritos every order. The entire time she was looking at me like I was crazy and trying hard to contain herself from laughing at me. WTF? Finally after the orders were placed, we watched them being made as we had zero trust in them after ordering. My fiancée ordered a Veggie Burrito. The guy making them started making it and added chicken to it. My fiancée pointed that out and he just took the pieces of chicken out. Then after a moment of thought he emptied the contents of the burrito into the trash and attempted to reuse the same tortilla to redo the order. Another employee eventually came over to make him throw it away. My buddy Jarrett ordered one burrito and got another. My order was ok, but in the end we all agreed that the burrito tasted only like rice. It’s such an overload of rice that nothing else comes through. It’s pretty amazing how that’s possible. And if you’re thinking about Nachos, don’t get them at California Tortilla. You can make yourself much better nachos at 7-Eleven.

Hrm… this place… is just… well…pedestrian. I mean, good Mexican is hard to find and this place certainly didn’t help that search. The food was ok — I mean, nothing to celebrate about. I liked the option of loading up my combo with a side of chips and queso that didn’t break the bank like other places would have. However, it tasted like Tostito’s cheese dip and nothing else. The only redeeming part that gets the joint a second star is the collection of hot sauces that they have. Otherwise, CT doesn’t warrant a second visit.

I decided to try this place out when I heard about the promotion for a free taco if you sign up for their e-mail list. I gave the code to the«spunky employee» who stared blankly at me, slack-jawed, before excusing herself to the back. She came back out and took my order. I had a steak taco and a chicken taco. The food was Taco Bell quality at Chipotle prices. Maybe«California Tortilla»(locations in MD, PA, VA, and DC. none in CA.) should spend more money on food quality and less on advertising how«spunky» their company is.
