techincally speaking, they have 70+ review under previous owner«sako»(sakos mediterranian cuisine). I am not a fan of the greek version of gyros — always too thick of a meat, usually frozen and over spiced and garlicked to death. Here your served the turkish version, called«doner»(doh-nair) which tastes great everytime. But the crem de la crem is the«iskender» or alexander kabon, which has the afore mentioned on a bed of cut-up pita bread chunks, slathered with tomato sauce, metled butter. Edges have cooling yogurt. Thats all I eat here, every single time. If you order, you wont eat or look at the menu too. ok, an occasional side of fries. I dont care for much of the rest of the menu, I can eat much better kabobs at Kebab Halebi in Van nuys, but no one has as good(or even offered perhaps) the iskender kabob, period.

Places like this never get enough credit because they’re isolated, have no marketing skills, and sometimes they are simply satisfied with having their own network of friends and family being the only diners. So, I start off by saying that my best friend’s dad knows the owner of the place, and once again a very sweet and generous man who cooks and manages the place. We went through the aromatic kitchen into the back area for a lovely quiet dinner until a parade of people arrived for a sweet sixteen(but let’s not mind them). Whenever there’s a male cook with a big belly cooking at a Mediterranean restaurant(or a grandma) know that your food will be nothing short of amazing! The appetizers first came out, and I had to reach for my napkin to wipe the drool dripping from my mouth. The hummus had the lemon and garlic that most places leave out, the tabuleh was the right amount of tangy, and the roasted eggplants were perfectly cooked, and to top it all off cigar-looking boreks(cheese filled bread). Everything came out freshly made and freshly cooked. We ordered the iskender doner. Thinly sliced tri-tip meat in a bed of warm crunchy pita with a sour-cream tomate paste on top. I’m losing feeling in my fingers just thinking about it. Now I want doner and boreks, but it’s 2:32 am :(
