I had the De Lyon Station– which is their tender, thinly sliced roast beef/melted Swiss served on a toasted French roll and au ju. I also opted for their soup of the day which was a new one for me– cream of artichoke. The sandwich was just awesome, perfectly cooked and a really generous portion of nice tasting roast beef.(I am hesitant to try French dip and roast beef sandwiches at new spots as I think it is sooo important to have FRESH r.beef.anything less and it turns into a gagging nightmare. This place rocks on the freshness, it was quite delicious and the soup was very tasty too, but the artichokes were a bit mushy. Again, never had it so I imagine the texture would be different then I’m used to. Overall, I could have given 4.5 if it was available.

I’ve been coming here for some time now, and I’ve got to say they’ve really done great things with the menu. The herb butter N.Y.steak is delicious as is the coffee crusted N.Y. steak(yes, I said coffee)! The staff is attentive and friendly and it’s got a very good family vibe. The mixed drinks are amazing as well, and the rotating taps feature lots of local and regional brews. Monday’s are great if you have kids, because they eat free!

I am pretty satisfied with my experience at this establishment. I stopped by, with a group of four, on a Saturday night and it wasn’t completely packed. We were greeted and seated promptly in a booth by the bar. The seating was very convenient for bathroom breaks(space between wall and ends of booths for the individuals seated on the«inside.» There were plenty of tvs by the bar, two of them were projector screens, and the positions allowed for ample choices of comfortable game viewing. The appetizers were great. I recommend the pesto caprese bread. The chips were a bit thick but the salsa was pretty delicious. There were plenty of local and domestic beer options and only two cider options. Seattle Cider and(If I remember correctly) Spire Dark and Dry were the ones available. The waitress seemed a bit annoyed with our table since we were trying to just make it a drink and appetizer night(which I can understand since her money comes from tips of large total bills). I would love to try their brunch and when I do will be sure to evaluate it’s position among all the amazing brunch joints in South King County. This is a great stop in the Downtown Renton Pub Crawl that I’ve started creating for myself.

This place does NOT disappoint. Great atmosphere, clean space, and delicious food(this place has hit a homer 8⁄9 times). Best bloody Marys in town. Special thanks to Becky, the hostess that has made me feel as if I’m coming home to eat, as opposed to going out. Her tableside manner and welcoming smile will make you won’t why you haven’t been made the whistle stop ale house a regular stop.

I honestly don’t know how places with sad sandwiches like this can stay in business. Maybe they sell enough beer here to make up for it. Do not trust the pictures you see on Unilocal,I could barely see the pastrami between the two pieces of bread. Not to mention, the sandwich was around $ 12 I think. Goldbergs is up the road, you’re better off if you just keep driving — they are more expensive, but at least you get a decent sandwich. They were fairly busy for lunch, which probably speaks to the lack of good options in the area more than the quality of the food here. Food took a while and was definitely not worth waiting for. Décor was nice, so there’s that.

I walked into the restaurant to have breakfast on a Friday morning at 9:30am then got kicked out because I had a Starbucks coffee with me. Couldn’t believe the lack in hospitality. All I wanted was breakfast and not their black coffee. Never going to that place again.

Was there once and won’t come back. The food is not that good. For the same money you can have dinner in the way better place. The guy who was our server is very nice, but the rest of the staff seemed not really interested in providing good service and atmosphere, just talked near the bar all the time… Looks like there is not leader or at least responsible for everything person.

Standard brunch place. Portion was generous– I was definitely very full by the end. Service was good. Food was ok, nothing special. I would come back if I’m craving for breakfast food. I haven’t tried their lunch yet but they look good as well. Their menu is a little limited.

If it’s one thing I love about this place, it’s the hospitality. Right when you walk in, you instantly get this home-y feel. All of the staff are amazing, especially the bartenders! They really take the time to know their customers. My fav has to be Vivian, she always keeps my drinks full :) My fav thing to order are their fries. I’m picky about fries and I usually HATE thick fries but theirs are perfectly crunchy and salted. So addicting ahh. I also love how festive they are. I went to their Hawaiian luau over the summer and Oktoberfest last night. The staff were committed and dressed up and their food specials were the

Rude or Incompetent? Walked in with hubby. After awkwardly standing at the entrance for 3 minutes, there was still no acknowledgement that we even existed. Finally some guy said«hello» to us. He was dressed super casual(jeans, t-shirt, baseball cap). I wasn’t sure if he was an employee or a customer. He was friendly and said he was going to seat us, but then he didn’t. Don’t know why – perhaps he really DIDNOT work there. So strange. Finally, the«hostess» came up and said a friendly hello and found us a table. The waitress for our section came to us much later(10 minutes after we were seated). Ugh! Then after we placed our order, she came back 10 minutes later and asked my husband, «What did you order again?» Aaargh! After 30 minutes, alas, our meal came. It was very delicious. I’m giving this place 2 stars for this latest visit just because of the poor customer service.

Such an awesome breakfast here! The music is so fun and such an enjoyable experience with friends! Vacation must to stop here! The meat lovers scramble was wonderful and the whistle stop combo is what breakfast should be! Sausage was wonderful.

A friend and I went there for lunch last week. Service was great! The sandwich I had was two pieces of cheap bread slapped together with some meat, cheese and lettuce. Awful. French fries were decent. Guinness on tap was flat and tasteless. I’ve had better beer from a bottle. Not a place I would recommend for good food or beer on tap. The original whistle stop was so much better.

The Mushroom ragout is «to die for!» Huge mushroom pieces(and I mean HUGE). Well exceeded my expectations! Delicious broth! Wonderful old fashioned, too. In an odd neighborhood, but well worth the trip. Love the beer taps display. When I get back to Seattle, this will be a definite stop!

The Whistle Stop limeaid is life-changing! Be careful with the lemonade though, that jalapeño is no joke! All of our sandwiches were delicious and the local beers were great. Our waitress was very cordial and knowledgeable of the menu — we asked a lot of questions and asked for a lot of recommendations. The choice dessert was the sweet potato pecan pie that was made locally. The other desserts seemed to be simple frozen items that were somewhat warmed. Brick walls and concrete floors made is somewhat noisy, but it probably didn’t help that there were three crazy kids at the table running around next to us! All in all, a great place for a low key family dinner.

Mother’s Day 2015 brunch. The choice was between Wild Wheat down in Kent or Whistle Stop in Renton, mom picked Whistle Stop and it was my first time visiting. We didn’t have a reservation but when we walked in there weren’t too many tables taken so we were able to get a seat right away. The waitress was… odd? my mom ordered the Train Wreck and asked our waitress(Jana) if she could not have the black bean salsa on the top. Jana proceeds to let my mom know(on Mother’s Day) that there were no substitutions allowed on this busy day. After a back and forth conversation between them Jana proceeded to inform my mom that if she allowed a substitution for her, she would have to allow them for everyone. My mom then decided on something else since it seemed there wouldn’t be any budging on the Train Wreck, Jana comes back after a minute to let my mom know that(after the argument) she could have what she originally wanted… The food took longer than I would have expected, not too terribly long but slower than you would expect seeing as it was a ½ full restaurant. My eggs were good, toast cold, hash browns good. Wild Wheat would have been a better option…

Came in and the service was slow and inattentive. I ordered food and it was literally 45 minutes of waiting with empty glasses before I decided I had enough. The server finally brought out my appetizer as I was leaving. By then I was fed up and had concerns over what to expect over the course of the rest of the meal. On my way out the manager yelled at me that he had the ticket for only 15 minutes and used expletives to tell me how I was wrong for ordering and then leaving. So clearly my order never got placed in a timely manner; and they were not busy, so there really was no excuse. Let me say: I have worked in hospitality and service for years(and also as server in a restaurant) and would have been embarrassed for the behavior of the staff and employees unprofessional demeanor where they mess up and then yell at the customer for choosing to cut their loses when it is clear that that an establishment don’t care what quality of service they deliver. And I frankly did not feel like being made to suffer what was going to be a lackluster dining and drink experience. It is a shame, it looked like a quaint and like it would have been a delightful place to eat. Pity the staff does not back up the promise the venue seems to deliver.

I really want to like this place(I really do!), but every time I’ve visited the service is terrible and unprofessional. No manager ever shows up to check in and offer to fix the situation, either. Last time we went, we were ignored at the front lobby for a solid 5 minutes. We were then told it will be a couple minutes to set up a table. 15 minutes later, we were finally seated. 10 minutes later, we actually saw our waiter. Every party that came in after us had the same lackluster service. The food is pretty good and I like their beer selection, but for heaven’s sake hire some better staff… You have so much potential, Whistle Stop!

I’ve always liked Whistle Stop Ale House for its quirky and hodge-podge décor. No wonder locals like this place. It’s a no-fuss kind of establishments. Yes there are the regular that come in, take their place at the bar and the bartenders already know what type of beer to pour for them. Whenever a go in, I make a bee line to the bar and the staff is always friendly, the food is decent(I have yet to go in for breakfast).

Came in with coworkers as a group lunch and ordered the Tokyo Station chicken sandwich, and it wasn’t fully cooked. Tasted like rubber. Sent it back and waited even longer for a new sandwich. Our waitress seemed as if she was pissed to be there, wasn’t very personable, and brought my order out in a to-go box with the checks. Was not impressed. They need new waiters/waitresses or the ones that work there need to cheer up. If you don’t like your job, get a new one! I give this place two stars because I liked the seasoning on the fries.
