I generally like the food and atmosphere here. It’s kinda dive kinda homey. I have food allergies though and have to exclude dairy. They added sour cream to half my meal and tried to hide it. The worst part is that I asked for no cheese and no sour cream and they charged me for adding mushrooms. Pretty lame. The servers are nice enough, not the fastest service but consistent. I won’t be a regular, I won’t never go again.

The Apogee is a charming local American fare bar that has been in the same place in Fairwood for hundreds of years seemingly. As a result the clientele skews older which is a great market for the Apogee since the neighborhood is made up of baby boomers predominantly. Lots of great beer on tap here, pool, darts, and tons of TV’s. We often watch Seahawks games here. The food is standard American fare with burgers, wings, jumbo friend shrimp and steaks. Lots of different sandwiches including my wife’s favorite the«Superbird». They also have a specialty«broasted chicken» that seems to be popular but it is not my favorite. It’s dark in there and when you come outside, even after breakfast, it seems like you are exiting into a whole new universe of brightness. I like Apogee for the most part and will continue to go here.

Ended coming here randomly on a Friday night and super happy we picked this place. From the outside you aren’t sure what you are getting into but it’s a great local bar! The place is huge! The staff was all great and friendly. Jason was friendly and joined in our conversations. But most importantly he was super on top of our drink needs!!! You would almost think the place what a dive from the outside but nope. Super tidy, clean and well lit establishment. The bathroom was really clean and nice! They also have pool tables. I have heard they have a good brunch which I am super wanting to try! Overall this is a great neighborhood bar!

This establishment is great for keeping it low key. Food is decent staff is great smiles no attitude, plenty of TVs, pull tabs, pool tables. Looking for a place to have a few drinks with no problems in Fairwood? This is the place!

The Apogee is perhaps the finest dining establishment in Fairwood, not only because of the friendly staff, cheap beer, and greasily great American food, but because of the irony of its name. When in Fairwood, the apogee of human potential is at The Apogee. Stay away from the pizza, but enjoy the French fries like there’s no tomorrow.

American style Pub food — good burgers and garden burger patty and frys you can always count on — a neighborhood fixture for 40 plus years

I agree with another reviewer: the food is good, try the buffalo burger or nachos.(4 stars) The service and atmosphere leave a lot to be desired.(2 stars) They always have a lot of staff wandering around or talking to each other, but not at all excited to take care of the customers. It’s a little over lit, and wide open like a cafeteria. Lacks sports bar atmosphere, but plenty of TVs to watch the games. We live close-by, but after our first visit, we just get food to go and have a beer while we wait. Not much for a hang-out.

We had our class reunion here and didn’t stay long enough to eat so can’t really give a review on the food. Like the atmosphere though. They are definitely a place to look at next time we want to put together an informal gathering. Tables were all set and definitely a great place to have a party. My date wasn’t into the noise so we went somewhere else for the food. I will definitely come back. Love the location and there’s lots of parking.

It’s the only bar in the Fairwood area(I read in another review their lease includes a monopoly on the only bar in the area? Ridiculous.) The food and service were good, fresh hot fries and tasty home made tartar sauce. I got a double jack and coke and it was TWELVEDOLLARS. That is absolutely insane. This is Fairwood for crying out loud! I liked the ambiance and food but to blatantly price gouge deters me from wanting to return.

Missy and Jeff are my favorite bar tenders, Rachel and Caitlyn are the best servers! Love this place as a transplant from So. Cal has a «home» feel to it. Great happy hour prices and the pull tabs are absolutely addicting! Love Apogee Pub and Eatery

The food is not the best bar food I’ve ever had. We got chicken strips and my boyfriend wanted a side of buffalo sauce; we were pretty sure we were brought BBQ. When we asked we were told that the buffalo sauce is BBQ and buffalo sauce mixed. Mmkay… then can we just get the buffalo part? We seriously considered ordering buffalo wings just to see. Also, to say the service is lacking is a vast understatement. We sat at the bar and were walked by repeatedly with just bored stares at our empty drinks. Go here and look around like you need something and you’ll find at least a handful of other people doing exactly the same thing. One of the bartenders legitimately said to us «they just keep ignoring you guys.» Ummm… you work here too, right? So… you are also ignoring us, right? If you happen to live in this area like we do and find that this is the only bar close, drive the extra few miles to another one anyway.

As I said earlier I go here at least once monthly; it’s convenient because I live across the street. Have ordered various things and never been disappointed. It’s mellow, kinda quiet unless full, apparently aimed for a 40+ crowd. Last night was the same as always: good food, great fries(ask for tartar sauce), relaxing atmosphere, multiple games on TVs. If you want a mellow, tasty pub meal this is a good place. If you’re one of those people who must find something to criticize(and some reviewers here sound that pathetic) help yourself — get your kicks and stay away.

I’ve lived in Fairwood for almost 20 years and can count on one hand the number of times I’ve been to the Apogee. This is due to their to slow service, mediocre food and the fact it irritates me beyond belief they have some clause in their lease that prohibits any other pub or bar & grill from opening in our neighborhood.

Let’s just be nice and to the point with this review since there isn’t much to say. Mediocre food. We had Caesar salad and grill cheese. Horrible dessert. No pie so there was only one dessert left… their chocolate cake that tastes like cake that’s been left out for at least a week. And even worse service. We were waiting for water for at least 10 minutes and I don’t think the servers know how to smile here…:/

First time inside the apogee. Not bad. Food was pretty good Staff was friendly. Our first server was great. The second one was slow. Not a bad place to watch sports and have lunch and drinks! The inside is very large and roomy. Not what you would expect as a hole in the wall dive bar. I would say this place is a good 50’x50’. L shaped bar in the center, tables all around the bar, booths against the walls, TV’s everywhere which makes this an ideal place for locals to watch their sports. Two pool tables on the far end of the place behind the bar, plus at least one electronic dart board from what I could see. The crowd is definitely not young. A mix of older couples and 30’s/40’s groups. Reminds me a lot of the bars in Pennsylvania country. More of a rural feel, not a modern, city type of décor. This is a great local bar for east Renton folk. I’ll definitely be back.

«Scratch ticket dust enters mouth» Last night, some family and I got hungry and wanted to try a new place out. I’ve had the Chicken Fried Steak from Apogee before, but have never eaten there, so my family decided to have some dinner and drinks there to watch the UW game. The environment: A clean late 70s, early 80s feeling dive. Stuffed deer on the walls, wooden everything, pull tabs at a section of the bar, lots of tvs scattered(best part). Wasn’t overly crowded for a game day… The service: We found our own seats in the middle of the bar, but were never greeted for 10 minutes or so. They weren’t busy enough to blame it on that, there were also times when a few of them stood by the cash register doing nothing, but watching tv. A lady came over, carded us amd said someone else was coming, so another 10 mins we waited. The waitress came along, took our drink and food orders and we were good. Slow service for a not busy place. The food: I ordered the fried gizzards(I know some of you are gagging due to that, but it was good) and the Chicken Fried Steak. The gizzards were dipped in a seasoned batter and deep fried. Anything deep fried and hot is usually good. This was. The horseradish ranch dipping sauce was hitting too. The chicken fried steak was disgusting. The last time I tried the chicken fried steak from Apogee was 6 – 7 yesrs ago. It may have changed, but it wasnt as delicious as I remembered it. The steak was rubbery, straight out of the freezer into a fryer, the steamed veggies were microwaved and the mashed potatoes… THEMASHEDPOTATOESHAD A SCRATCHTICKETUSEDDIMEINTHEM!!! The dime was hidden under the paste of potatoes that I scooped up with a fork and ate. Felt the metal in my mouth and pulled it out… A dime… Used for scratching tickets. Laid the dime on the side of the plate. With that, I finished eating. I let the waitress know and she had no idea no to react. She went and told the bartender. My first time there is my last. I cant recommend it not due solely to the dime, but the food minus the gizzards was subpar prison food. I don’t apologize for the horrible review, I could have swallowed a dime while eating prison food.
