Do you believe that there is food that can«touch your heart»? The answer is yes, it is Dim Sum. «Dim Sum» literally means«touch the heart» and it’s one of the most famous Chinese cuisines. This cuisine should not be left off of a person’s list who favors the quality of food rather than a hearty meal. I went to the Renton Seafood restaurant about a month ago to eat Dim Sum with my relatives. We had been hearing good things about it from a friend of theirs. I didn’t taste much difference between the Dim Sum cuisine at the restaurant and in my own country, but I was obsessed with these three small steamer baskets, which are Lotus Seed Paste bun, Salted Egg York, and Egg Custard Tart. The initial dish was a Lotus Seed Paste Bun, which is similar to Vietnamese«Banh Bao». The doughy texture around the Bun is «protecting» the dark red tasty pork. The cooked and marinated pork inside the bun was amazing, which tasted extremely sweet and sour. I enjoyed because I have never eaten sweet meat before. «Wow» — that was I said at that moment. Salted Egg Yolk is an attractive dish which has translucent egg white and bright orange-scarlet yolk. Because the dish was so attractive, my appetite couldn’t wait after they serve the dish. And as a result, I grabbed it quickly and put it in to my mouth and my tongue was burned by this dish so you might want to be a little bit careful when you decide to eat this. Inside the cake is a mild golden sweet egg that will melt out with its pleasant aroma. Egg Custard Tart has an attractive shape which is refreshing look like a cupcake, with a light golden egg in the middle of the hot cake. The aroma of vanilla, cornstarch and sweet sugar blended together in the moment before biting it is extremely beautiful. The softened texture around the hot milky York is toasted. All of these ingredients contribute to the beautiful and pleasant dessert after having a hearty meal. Dim Sum plates are special to me because I enjoy this cuisine and it makes me obsessed with eating it again for the next time, especially the Lotus Seed Paste Buns, which have sweet meat, the Salted Yolky Egg, and Egg Custard Tart dessert.

I’ve seen the place hundreds of times, since it’s located in between my old gym and former Safeway in Renton. Just never thought it would be good. The good stuff is in Chinatown right? However on New Years day we decided to try it out for Dim Sum, since most places were closed. To our surprise the Dim Sum was damn good. No carts here, q everything is ordered fresh, which I think was key to why it tastes so good. The dishes are hot and the food was better than Hong Kong or Joy, Tea Palace in my opinion. +1 star for being only a 2 miles away from where I live. I’ll be back. Give them a try.

Had higher expectations for this restaurant because a group of friends said it was close to being the REAL Chinese food served there. It was… but I felt the dishes were way too pricy for what was served. We had crabmeat with fish maw soup… and it was starchy from the get go! Not a lot of crabmeat as well. The server also forgot to ring out the pepper & vinegar — I had to ask for them. This was a $ 14.95 dish! Braised tofu with mushrooms — only about 6 pieces of tofu & some mushroom halves. That was a $ 10.95 dish!!! Really? There were lots more cabbage than there was tofu & mushrooms. Sweet & sour pork ribs — another disappointment. Not a lot of meat in the dish. Another $ 10.95 dish. Honey walnut prawn — it was decent. Decent enough but most Chinese restaurants do this one just as well. Hm… The only dish that deserves some recognition is Mongolian Beef. But that’s it. Suffice to say, I won’t be going back. The hunt continues for a good Chinese restaurant in Seattle area.

Not a review of their dim sum but their Chinese food is authentic, fresh, & so much better than what you get in Chinatown! Minus the crowding, parking, dirtiness, oil/salt overload of many over-rated places in Ctown. My family is Chinese and we come here frequently. If you are looking for TRUE, delicious Chinese food, this is the place to go. Anyone that says differently on Unilocal, does NOT know their Chinese food(sorry fellow Unilocalers– would not make that claim of it weren’t true). I’ve had some amazingly good off-the-menu items(i.e. fresh black sesame tong yun) that are as good as in Hong Kong or Vancouver. I just gotta give credit where it is due & it is well deserved here. This place deserves more stars. If you like good NON-Americanized Chinese food but don’t know what to order, my general rule of thumb is to tell your server your food preferences(veggie, meat lover, not to salty/greasy, healthy, authentic, etc) and then get their recommendations. You’ll discover new dishes that you didn’t even know existed! There is so much more than fried rice, lo mein, etc With that being said, don’t crowd the place bc I hate waiting for seats, Unilocal

Wow — everything that was set on my table was incredibly hot and fresh(Dim Sum). We had the shrimp and chive dumplings, deep fried taro, baked BBQ pork buns, sticky rice, steamed bean curd, pan fried rice cakes and sesame balls. The BBQ pork buns, sticky rice, deep fried taro and pan fried rice cakes were my favorite. I will definitely be coming back. Food was good and fresh — heated upon order.

My mom and I decided to go to a random restaurant today. So we took a random exit off the freeway, made a couple of random turns and see this was where randomness took us. Before we went in, I went on Unilocal to see where my expectation should be. Most of the reviews were for dimsum. We were there at 6PM, so it didn’t applied to us. But my expectation was really low. I mean, how good will the chinese food be in the middle of a white-majority neighborhood?! Well the food definitely exceeded my expectations. They were very authentic and the taste was great. Prices very reasonable and choices varies. My mom, me and my 2 daughters shared a meal for 2. It was $ 22 with 2 choices of dish. It also came with rice, soup and dessert. Very cheap. And we had leftovers to take home. We ordered their signature chicken and their cod&tofu pot. My 2 year old ate a lot, And she is a very picky eater. My only complaint is their service. While I was not expecting a 5 star service, it was hugely disappointing. When we came in the door, there were no acknowledgement. We stood at the door for a minute or two before we just sat down at a table. And then we requested for a high chair. 10 minutes later, and asking the 2 different people working there, nothing. I ended up grabbing it myself. I think they need to hire an extra help.

Went to have lunch wig my wife. We ordered a couple min after getting there on Sunday for dimsum. We placed our order and 50 minutes later, decided to leave. The only thing we had received during that time was 1 item. They were not that busy but only looked like they had 2 people working up front. The broccoli was ok but the fact we never got the rest of our food really struck a nerve with me. There fore, they get the 1 star. I hope that if you eat there, they have faster service than they did for me on this day.

Me and my boyfriend went there the other day to get Dimsum. When we arrived, no one seated us and we also had to get the menu ourselves. So as soon as we sat down, we noticed that the tables were really dirty as in sticky and the cups were also dirty like it wasn’t washed at all. The other thing was that we literally waited 40min for our food. We basically wanted to just walk out. I don’t understand how some people don’t notice these things but the owner should really do something about this if they want a better business. OH and they need better customer service. We’re never coming here again :/

Great dim sum. It appears that their dim dum is made in house. Not the frozen and steamed stuff most dim sum places serve. Ever notice that most dim sum places have identical food? This place is different and fresh. Also its not overly salty like most dim sum places. Service and price is good too. 5 stars !

The dim sum is steamed fresh to order. Everything is delicious and authentic. Reminds me of Hong Kong and NYC. Definitely will be coming back. Reminds me of home!

I saw«a very good alternative of din tai fung» so I just HAD to write a review for this place! You’re cray cray girlfriend, you must be joking! Okay, maybe I’m getting a little offensive because I love DTF but still… lol. I was craving dim sum one day but it was almost 3 and I had no time to drive up to my fav place in Seattle so I just headed over there as it was walking distance for me. I picked up a few things like shu mai, «footballs», and rice cake/noodles???(The white thing. Sorry, only know what it’s called in Vietnamese lol) Honestly, I’ve had better and I think I would have been better off skipping that trip and just went to get something else. My sister was completely disappointed and gave me her half. She eats anything and everything just like me but surprisingly, she had to turn down on this. Not din tai fung material, sorry friends.

I’ve been here twice and the dim sum was great both times. Highlight dishes are steamed dumplings with minced pork and shui mai. The restaurant is small so the dim sum is made to order, and isn’t served via carts as you see in larger restaurants. This is a good place and very convenient if you’re in renton.

As good of Chinese food as most places in Chinatown. Been here about 8 times and food is always consistent. Some dishes we have were Peking Duck, honey shrimp and sliced fish with green beans. All tasted fresh and well cooked. The couple that owns this place is real nice as well. Wanted to give them a review because they definitely deserve your business if you are in the area.

I wanted to try this place out for Dim Sum but ended up taking out after their Dim Sum hours. This place is alright if you are looking to have okay food. My boyfriend’s body is sensitive to MSG, so this place must pack a ton of it in their food because he got really sick after eating. Usually he will just get an upset stomach from some places but he really REALLy got sick(unless he just got food poisoning, idk.) First of all you would think with the MSG amount it would have been more flavorful, but it wasn’t. The seafood chow fun was very bland and overall appearance of it was bleh. The Honey Walnut prawns were alright but it were too mayonnaise-y; other places in the area do it better with better taste. The Egg flower soup was alright, again, just bleh with an overwhelming amount of shiitake mushrooms. Im sure there dim sum is better and I wouldn’t advise going here during any other time.

The worst dim sum place I had ever! their utensils are greasy, there is even a lip stick print on a tea cup and they never replace it. The food tastes like store in the refrigerator for so long, the friend rice roll was supposed to taste crispy but it was almost rotten. We couldn’t resist it so we only stay for 3minute. Plus, the flies are everywhere want to share your food. I rarely write review on Unilocal, but I really need to do this time. The 3+star review is total a lie. I hope I won’t vomit later. This place is not even worth one star:(

The latest experience I had with this place is horrible, I will certainly never come back… The server greeted us in cantonese, my family and I don’t speak that. After I informed her that we don’t speak cantonese, please use mandarin or english, she just left us, no menu, no water, no tea. 20 minutes later when we were finally served, it only took another long while for our food to be ready. The«dim sum» they served tasted like frozen meals from 99 ranch… And they got our order incorrectly. We waited for so long, I was actually considered to just walkout and go some where else… My family and I been to this great country for over 20 years, and this is the worst restaurant experience we ever had, we will not be back… EVER!!!

I have been coming here for years. But oddly never did a review. I like this place for dim sum, is in my neighborhood. And in my opinion better than top gun. Plus they will deliver after a certain time. Notnas good as Vancouver dim sum but by Seattle standards its decent. I regulary order Tomato Beef Chow Mein HK style w pan fried noodles made the same way my grandmother used to make it. Service is good and fast. Never making a fussnforna wrong order orn miscommunication. Personal prefs aside this is a good place for lunch. For family style dining I prefer KC Seafood down the street. But this place isnt bad for that either. But again for dim sum this is my local spot.

Well… I didn’t get sick, so that’s a big relief. Our dinner here last night was pretty much a big letdown. I regretfully write this, as much as I root for the mom and pop but it was just disappointing. It was empty, first of all. On a Friday night. Decided to give it a shot after weeks of reluctance, caving after King County’s annual snow dump and wanting to stay close to home. If it worked, it would be a gem, given the lack of quality establishments in the area. And, if it failed, well… we’d lose a night but at least not travel to do so. Been to KC’s down the street after seeing many positive Unilocal reviews and if it was at least as good as that, we’d be ok(we never went back to KC’s either). Sighh… bland, bland, bland. No pop… No crispness. Analagous flavor. No texture complements. Just wasn’t good. Had the«hot and sour» soup, the chicken chow mein, the«sizzling beef»(labeled spicy beef hot pot on menu), beef and broccoli and honey walnut shrimp. Nothing was good. Just didn’t seem like much effort was put in. Probably the worst«hot and sour» soup I’ve ever had and I’m not sure why. The broth was underdeveloped and tasted… dingy. «Dishwater broth» was all I could think about. The chicken in the chow mein was bland and possibly cut with an axe. Disappointed both to report on a mom and pop but mostly the waste of our night, where we were trying to celebrate a family event.

First time for me trying out this restaurant as I think it is relatively close to the style of KC Seafood restaurant just down the same block. The food was decent as my fave was the free range chicken which I always seem to like no matter where I eat it at lol. An added plus is that they serve a complimentary dessert at the end of your meal. I’m not sure if it is the same dessert they serve all the time, but I did enjoy the pudding that we had. The overall food quality wasn’t bad, but it wasnt terrific as some things could have been better. After my first meal here I wouldn’t mind coming again to give it another try to see what other dishes they have to offer. The interior of the restaurant is nice and compact due to it being situated along a strip mall. The service was good as the place was not very busy and they kept their bathroom clean which is always an added plus.
