Let me start by saying this is a dive bar with very interesting lively patrons. As long as you know what you’re getting yourself into, you’ll be fine. Smoking is allowed inside and is pretty heavy so if you don’t like cigarette smoke, it’s probably not the place for you. Bartenders were friendly and drinks were cheap, but weak. I began ordering doubles after one or two. It’s standard patrons are fun and rambunctious albeit a little scary for the more conservative crowd.

I am a fan of Shea’s! Okay, so it might not be the best place to take a first date… but it’s a heck of a fun time for people who are just looking to have a fun night out with friends, or maybe you’re in an established relationship and you just want to have a good carefree time! First off, everyone who works here is extremely friendly. The second you walk in the door, regardless of what you are wearing or what you look like, you are greeted with a warm welcome. They are always upbeat, willing to strike up a conversation and overall a load of fun. There is always a wide variety of people in here and everyone is mixing and having a heck of a time. Secondly, the bar tabs are cheap! Every-time we have ever gone they have a few specials going and we can get a good buzz going for a group of us with $ 20 – 40. There’s nothing better than that, a lot of bars in town charge you $ 10 a drink and you end up blowing all of your money in one spot just on yourself. Thirdly, the atmosphere is always positive! They usually have some fun classics playing, there are people playing pool, groups that don’t know each-other are interacting and having a good time… it’s just a very relaxed place. The last time we were here we had people holding the door, inviting us to play pool and even paying to bum a cigarette. You aren’t going to find groups of snobby people sitting in booths giving dirty looks to those around them, you’re going to find a lot of people who are out to have a good time and meet new friends!

With all the awesome upgrades(along with gentrification side effects) in MidTown, it’s refreshing to go into the old favorites and find same atmosphere and cold beer at Reno prices.

A true locals dive bar. It’s loud. Smoking is allowed. Live bands. Shot and beer specials are great. This place is not for chit chatting and socializing in a group. This place is about great music and getting it done on the drunk side. It’s 24hrs as well. Good luck!

Classy establishment. My favorite part was when they slut shamed that girl on Facebook after going through her phone and bragging about stealing her nudes. Even cooler was how they tagged themselves in it. So yeah don’t lose your phone or you will be publicly shamed.

Sketchy place if your not from Reno or a local. Lots of fights in this place… so it’s not for the faint of heart. Penelope was a very friendly bartender though! Good drink specials

Used to be a regular here but hadn’t been there in several years. I was surprised to find out it was now open 24 hours. The bartender, Sonia, was very friendly and efficient. I had a good time early in the day. A booth of all-nighters were getting quietly smashed. They have an online jukebox that is the most expensive I’ve run into so far. Otherwise I probably would have given them 5 stars. I’m not a fan of paying a buck for a song. Or even $.50 for one.

Dump. Not cool«dive bar» dump, just a dump. If you love heroin, then your in luck, it is supplied upstairs! You want a fight every night? Knives and guns brandished with regularity? People so dumb you cannot believe your not sitting in the pokey? This is the place for you.

Shea’s is a family owned small bar where a lot of locals hang out but everyone is welcome. The bartender keeps the place running smooth and keeps everyone happy. The dance floor is real small and a pool table takes up part of it. Everyone should feel safe and not hassled at Shea’s Tavern. When a local invited himself to sit at a table of ladies without being asked. The bartender politely asked the local to return to the bar. This did not go well with the local but he was told to respect the ladies right to not be hassled. An extra«star» for that act which was not easy. Our evening at Shea’s was really enjoyable and I recommend it to anyone who wishes to go to a family owned, small, old style bar with flair.

After a long drive up from the Bay Area on a hot day we needed an ice cold beer. We spied Shea’s and thought we would give it a try. For a mid afternoon on a Thursday the place was pretty packed with a mostly younger crowd of local daytime drinkers. Bartender was friendly and the drinks were cheap.

This place is rough. I mean, rode hard and put away wet, rough. It sports an Irish name, but it’s about as Irish as the bar in «Always Sunny in Philidelphia.» Beer bottles are stored in massive vats of ice, so most of the labels end up coming off. If the bartender isn’t paying much attention, they could grab a completely wrong beer. It clearly attracts solely locals and they – seemingly – don’t have any intention of attracting the tourist crowd. So, if you’re new in town, it may take some time before you feel comfortable there. Not a bad spot. Not great either. If you want to get sauced, you could do worse.

Ghetto. I avoided a 15 min fight just to be ejected because I was sitting in some girls spot. Never go here, ever. Your life may depend on it.

So, in here sitting in Shea’s at 3:23 pm waiting on Spencer Shea for a meeting, which is weird because normally I’d be here at 3:23AM, waiting on Spencer to get me a drink. Got a little time on my hands, so here’s a review. This is a great late night venue and bar. Shea’s was here before Midtown was cool. Even when I make plans to go out to other places, I know I’ll at least pop into Shea’s for a drink at some point after midnight. The drinks aren’t too expensive and everyone who works here remembered my name after a couple tomes serving me. Lacey, Spencer and Penny are the ones I usually see and they are not only good bartenders, but honest and nice people. Bishop, surly as always, is a solid guy and puts up with all the late night crap and wit bus when were loaded and talkative. You want to catch me out on a weekend– I’ll see you at Shea’s after midnight, when were all up to no good! ;)

One of my favorite dive bars of Reno. Its a local scene, but everyone is cool. As long as you’re cool. They normally have bands playing, so some times there is a cover charge, and if there isn’t a band playing you got the juke box. Drink prices are cheap, and the place is open until the wee early morning. Which is normally when i’m leaving. All you need to know, hop in check it out. Hang and have a drink, by the time you leave you already made friends.

The Good: The bartender was super friendly and welcoming, even on a busy night Cheap drinks. I like the booth set up, It would be a great place to easily talk with friends. The Bad: I am not a smoker, so it was hard for me to stay long. While the bartender was very welcoming, this seems like a bar with regulars, and it was made clear from everyone in there that my group was not regulars.(we took a shot and moved on — quick).

With only 24 hours in Reno, what’s a girl to do in the late afternoon in a foreign city? I plopped myself down on a barstool here and don’t think I moved for 5 hours. It was amazing. I really loved the Friday daytime crowd better that the Friday night crowd(I guess that’s usually the case for me). The drinks weren’t cheap, but they were decent. The bartenders were cool. Riley was especially cute and friendly. Jukebox could use some work, but maybe I’m just picky. If I ever find myself in Reno again, I will have to get drunk here again! And can we talk about how awesome it is that you can smoke inside in Reno?! I know, I know, stop judging me.
