The place was clean and service was friendly. AND this was about an half hour before closing on a Saturday night. Food was good and quickly served to us. The fries and onion rings had just the right crunch. The owner told us he was closing, but he never rushed us. Top notch service. Really refreshing.

Was shocked! I was warned by several university students that this guy is never open. Took a group of 15 young people over on a Friday night at 5:20 pm to get burgers. We needed to be back at the University by 6! Unilocal lists his hours until 7pm. We walk in the door and the guy PHYSICALLY begins to push us out the door and tell us he is closing at 6 and does not want our service or money! He probably lost $ 100 in business and could of had us in and out of there in 25 minutes or less. We walked around the corner to Capriotti’s — who was happy to have us — delish food and again we were out before 6pm. Will never ever go back to Giant Burger! Ever!

Okay, so I go there with a friend of mine about 5:30PM. We both order burgers and fries(steak fries) we grab our seats and away our order. The owner of the restaurant brings us our food, and talking to us was interesting because he sounded like it was mumbling to me. My friend and I sat there eating, the food in my opinion just wasn’t worth the price. The steak fries were great, white crispy salting but not too bad. I had the giant burger with bacon, there was nothing special about this burger. The party was as thin as something as you get from McDonald’s! Barely any toppings There is more bread than anything on this Burger. It tasted greasy and heavy. All the flavors blended together with nothing standing out The combo meals, fountain drinks do not come with it, fountain drinks are priced $ 1.69 separate price, with refills at $.50 each, limit one per customer. Drinks and a can or bottle, are more expensive. Approximate two dollars each. This was my first and last visit to giant burger the fries may be great, but it’s not worth it for anything else. The place has poor ventilation, every time the cook would put something in the deep fryer on the grill, it became a little smoky and difficult for me to breathe. Seating is limited, I do not recommend this place to anyone. The best thing that I did find for this place, due to the heaviness of the burger in the breeze, was drinking warm mustard water I’m relieving my stomach of its contents.

Really friendly owner, great little shop and the food comes out fast! I tried the kabob wrap, which was good. never had anything quite like it before. it comes with a suace that really makes the dish. cant remember what the sauce is, really thick cut fries which are both fantastically seasoned and have a crunch when you bite into . Ill be back for sure, but i think ill try a burger next time. the kabob wrap was Super filling and was a ton of food with the fries. =)

What a killer burger! The bread was soft and fresh and the meat was really juicy. The guy who I think is the owner is cool character too. He looks like he belongs in a mafia movie lol. He told me his falafel is really good so if I’m not craving the buyer on my next round, I’ll try the falafel. A big thumbs up to this place!

I hadn’t eaten here for a long time, last time I ate here was a few months after they re-opened, I remember feeling it didn’t meet my value equation, but I drove by the other day and they have a $ 5+ burger and fry special, so I thought I would give it another go. I found out that special is ¼ lb burger, but I was hungry and I wanted to see how big the Giant Burger was, it is supposed to be ½lb or two ¼lbs. The burger doesn’t feel Giant, it doesn’t seem like the ½lb ones, I have had many times at other restaurants. The burger was just okay, nothing special, toppings below average, and there was about 7 steak fries. The price was $ 6.99 and that is without the add on of 90 cents per slice of cheese or $ 1.80 for two slices for the two patties. It wasn’t anything that would drive me back. The food was just okay, not tasty, not gross, just very middle of the road. Overall, I have experienced better food for a better value. «Taste + Price + Quantity + Quality + Service(Which Varies) = My Value Equation»

My kid loves loves this place. My 15 year old is a little O.C.D. when it comes to cleanliness and this place I have to say is the cleanest burger joints I have ever been to. The hamburgers are fresh and fries are thick and delicious. I can’t give enough thumbs up to the owner, a super wonderful business owner. Its nice to still get greeted and asked how our food is each time we visit. We have only ordered the hamburgers and fries… so good we really don’t want to try anything else.

If I can give 0 stars I will in w heart beat Service: terrible. TERRIBLE. Its 2pm on a non busy day and I am from out of town. I ordered a bacon burger but forgot to order fries(note this is before I even paid) because the owner didn’t mention that fries are separate so I asked if I may get fries with my order and he gave me attitude like it was my fault for not knowing. When my friend and I wanted to order more burgers and fries for the road the owner told us, «go order somewhere else.» Like are you kidding me??? I am trying to give you more business and you are rejecting it and in that type of manner? Right after that he tells us if we want to complain complain to the owner and he will give us a complain form. Honestly what in the world is this guys problem? He served locates of Reno with politeness and gratitude, except us. Food: Decent was good had a nice charbroiled taste to the patties that’s about all it has going for it.

Giant Burger is reasonably priced with an extremely friendly owner. The burger was solid, however, the only problem with Giant Burger is that the hours are really inconvenient and that the hours on Unilocal aren’t the same as the actual store’s hours.

We came here since this place had good reviews. The burgers were ok, the fries were very skimpy. We passed up getting an awful awful burger to eat here. When we saw the portion size of the fries we were disappointed. Less than a handful of fries, a smaller burger, not as tasty, for the same price. I won’t be stopping here again. If regular burgers with 8 pieces of fries makes you happy, this is your place to go. Have at it. You can have my seat.

Best falafel in town. Giant Burger has a nice simple menu and nice clean old burger joint feel. The burgers are solid and steak fries are good if you enjoy that type. The falafel sandwich is great. What I really like is that they wrap the pita into a burrito shape and then wrap it in foil. Makes it really easy to eat and not messy. The taziki sauce comes in a squirt bottle so you can make a dipping puddle or just squirt it straight into each bite. The owner even offers to explain what falafel is for the uninitiated. Will definitely come back.

WARNING: Nostalgia ahead! So I was a weekly customer at Giant Burger back in the early 90’s. My buddy and I would hit the place up and get the same thing: Jumbo bacon burger with fries. We did this for well over a year, with occasional visits in the ensuing years. After it was replaced with a Jimboy’s, I was sad… but then I heard that it had returned, with the original owner still manning the grill. This… this was good news. My family and I returned to Reno for a visit and this was the mandatory lunch stop: we had to visit the shrine of the Giant Burger. Not a single thing has changed. Nothing. The place is still so clean you could perform surgery on the tables. The food is EXACTLY like it was 20+ years ago. I felt like I was back in college, watching the recap of the FBI raid on the Branch Dividian compound in Waco, TX on the television there(yes, that’s where I was and I remember it clearly). The burgers are borderline perfect: all the toppings expertly laid neatly atop the patty, the buns toasted to perfection, and the burger itself cut in half. The steak fries are absolute heaven with the perfect amount of crispiness. The service is fast, friendly, and personable. There might be burgers in Reno that deliver more«culinary excellence» or a more«flavorful atmosphere», but no burger delivers more joy to me than Giant Burger.

It’s okay to believe the hype! They do indeed have giant burgers! Being the frugal type, I usually stick with the ‘Special’ which consists of a single beef patty, lettuce, tomato, on a great big bun to match, hence the moniker. I imagine the gyros are pretty good, but at eight bucks they find themselves out of my price range. Yes, people, I’m CHEAP. Good service, great location, very clean and worth your visit.

Giant burger is a mom and pop place. It almost looks as comfortable as a greasy spoon. It’s not, but gives that appearance when you first walk in. Kind of like the cafeteria at Woolworths. I have known the owners for years now. The owners looked forward to seeing my folks and I just as much as we enjoyed eating there! We don’t frequent Giant Burger as much now as before. Why? Because their burgers are damn good. Too good! They are tasty and they would make my doctor yell at me if I had my druthers and ate there as much as I’d like to! So, you’re wondering why I’m adding a review of this place. I must of had a burger… right? Wrong! I WASGOOD! I did not have a giant/jumbo burger. For the first time, I had their falafel sandwich! Not bad Not bad at all. First off, let’s describe this cute little corner burger shop. It’s on the northwest corner of Virginia and 8th. Parking can be a challenge if you’re new to the area. Either head south on Virginia and make a right on 8th(8th is a one way street headed west) and make a right into their parking lot or take any street that is east of Virginia and head west on 8th. Not confusing at all… Use the GPS, it will help. Warning, this is a college eatery so don’t be alarmed if you go there during lunch or dinner because you will see a lot of students stuffing their faces there. Now, when I first walked in there, the owners knew me right away. We exchanged pleasantries and I placed my order. Note: Drinks are one time filled. Refills, other than water, are 50 cents. My order arrived in a timely manner. The falafel was prepared and cooked perfect. Fried enough to give it a crunch, but not too much to burn it. Very impressive. The falafel sandwich was made with falafel patties and really fresh ingredients. It was all rolled in a pita bread and wrapped in foil. The price of the sandwich is $ 7.99 and in today’s world, that’s decent. I requested no salt on my fries and that always takes a few minutes more. But, the order arrived HOT and tasty. The tahini sauce, was tangy and tasted great! It’s fantastic on the sandwich and just as good on the fries! I have never been disappointed here. Regardless if you order their GIANT burger, their J U M B O burger or any of their others, they are good and tasty. You may not leave stuffed, but you won’t leave hungry. Just don’t let your doctor know! Bottom Line — — — — — — - Yes, I will come back here and have for several years now. They are friendly, the food is good. Not the cheapest, but, to argue in favor of them, they do give you fresh and hot food and it is worth it.

Had the Jumbo burger basket. The burger meat looked more like a slice of Bologna. Very thin and cooked to death. I expected a hand formed juicy burger at a small local joint. Sauce was good and so were the few fries that I got in the basket. The restaurant was very clean maybe even new or recently remodeled and the service was friendly unfortunately the food won’t get me back.

First: this is a CLEAN place, cleaner than my own house. It’s on the smaller side with one TV about 6 tables with bar area. Had the bacon burger with everything, loved it! The bread was slightly toasted enough for a slight crunch, but still soft. However the stake fries for me where I k not great. If you like to taste the potato in your fries then you’ll love these. But to me it was on the plan side. There is a small amount of seasoning on the fries just not enough for me. Next time I’ll try the zucchini. I’ll be coming back.

These guys serve a mighty fine Patty melt. Grilled red onions are my favorite. Perfectly buttered and grilled Rye bread. They serve steak cut fries with it. Wonderfully prepared. Nice and crispy but not dried out inside. The onion ring were the real show stealer. You could taste the beer in the batter but not overpowering. Crunchy outside perfectly gooey«oniony» inside. Yeah I just made up oniony!

Definitely the place to stop when you’re hungry. The burgers are big, juicy, and they even cut them in half so you enjoy every bite without it getting messy. The fries are delicious and very hot. Cost my boyfriend and I around $ 15 for two burgers. But it was worth it!

Finally got a chance to check out Giant Burger after walking by it so many times, and it definitely didn’t disappoint! Good size portions, friendly staff, quick service and a couple of side/upgrade options besides just fries. I got the jalapeño burger with zucchini sticks, which you don’t often see too much of in burger restaurants these days. No complaints whatsoever, I’ll be sure to return soon.
