I visited this place few times because of my sister, service is horrible, unfriendly and unprofessional. The few time I had diving in I always expected a different reactions like if I’m going to see an improvement. The Spanish girl at the register has a attitude against customers, like if she doesn’t want to be there(I know is not the best job but make the best of it for the tips). The few times I had sit there, she had open the the front door(it’s winter) I would like to sit an enjoy my meal and not her ugly face… The first time I diving in, I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant with coffee. It wasn’t great but good but after half a hour I felt sick and with a horrible stomachache, I would though it was something else but it was my first meal of the day. Second time. I ordered an everything bagel with strawberry cream cheese. To be honest I was expecting a nice pink creamy cream cheese with a toasted bagel(like I used to ordered in the city) I didn’t order a coffee this time because I knew it would be too hot and no flavor of coffee, however the bagel was toasted but cold, it was regular cream cheese with pieces of strawberry I was more than disappointed. If you are at Rego mall shopping or if you live around the area please stay away from this place, there are plenty of places at the mall that you can diving in and if you are looking for a good coffee then I recommend going to Starbucks. ;) PS. I saw walking small cockroaches by the atm machine which made me dislike this place even more.

Rego Park Deli is my favorite neighborhood go-to place for lunch! Giuseppe is the best, he’ll meet any request my office has. He caters(custom made) meals for any of our big meetings and never disappoints. Presentation, taste, freshness and delivery is always on point. My fave is the«Jo-Eggplant». My entire staff loves his food.

I happen to disagree greatly with John C. I’m so thankful that we have a place like Rego Park Deli & Pastry in the neighborhood. Rego Park is a neighborhood that lacks the conventional deli, but these guys have done a great job in bringing a classic deli to the neighborood. Whenever there is an issue with an order placed, the fine staff are more than happy to correct the issue. The eggs here are not microwaved; the microwave is used to melt the cheese and to make the bacon crispy. The eggs are made in the back with frying pans. I can’t wait for June 21st when the kitchen and grill opens up. There will also be new tables, benches and chairs to replace the old ones. As for the chipped tables, we can’t put this on the owner. These tables are used by the customers, and he is going to be replacing them in the next few weeks. As for all the pastries being made elsewhere, only the cupcakes are made from Crumbs. The danishes, croissants, and fruit-tarts are all made in the deli and pastry shop. There are only a few signs outside of the deli, and they serve the purpose of informing the customers about the various specials and new items. As for the«bed sheet» in the back, it serves the purpose covering the kitchen up during the store’s transition. And since when was a large variety and selection of food a bad thing for a deli & pastry shop to have? The crepes are a part of the pastry shop aspect of the store, and the empandas represent part of the deli aspect. The coldcut section doesn’t close at 6:30 or 7 either; The latest the deli section closes is at 7:45. Maybe John C would prefer to eat at the bagel shop on the same block. enjoy those bird droppings on your bagel! as for me, I will stick with my favorite deli, Rego Park Deli and Pastry. Enjoy the grand opening of the grill and new kitchen on June 21st! there will be a new and exciting selection of food inclusing steak and hamburgers.

I have given this place too many chances as I live in the area and my hopes of finally having a good deli in Rego Park were quickly shot down. Its obvious the past 2 owners never previosly ran a deli before as they commonly look lost and inexperienced. I called it quits when I ordered a bacon egg and cheese and saw that it was microwaved yes microwaved!!! They dont have a grill to make eggs!!! The sandwhich was terrible. I quickly realized they do not bake any of the pastries themselves, they order it from somewhere and they do not taste very good. The brownie I had was the consistency of a fluffy chocolate cake not dense like a brownie should be, the crème brûlée was not crisp at the top and the cupcakes were mediocre. The place is not kept up well as the tables and chairs are all chipped and damaged and half the entrance to the place is always blocked with very annoying signs of sandwhich specials or numerous notices covering the entire entrance about not honoring old specials… Really??? The rear of the place has what looks like a bed sheet covering it from ceiling to floor almost looking like you entered an ER. This«deli» seems to try to do everything while mastering nothing. Why are you trying to sell empanadas and crepes??? I speak for the people of Rego Park when I say please dont try and do it all just give us a QUALITY Deli where we can get a real bacon egg and cheese in the morning and cold cuts, bread, chips(large bags), MILK, and Soda(2L Bottle) after work on our way home. Thats it! You can keep your third party pastries, empanadas, and crepes. Tip:(keep the cold cut station open longer) Any time I pass by around 6:30−7 hungry for cold cuts you are cleaning the slicer and getting ready to close so I’m forced to go to the MET for them and everything else I would have bought. I always wondered why in the morning people preferred to go to the other bagel place on the same block even though their entrance is covered with bird droppings rather than this new deli… now I know why. I hope this place learns from these concerning reviews before they shut down just like the last one.

Came in for lunch while I was shopping because I see they had salads. Super disappointed with the tiny amounts of chicken and every other topping in the salad. Basically ate lettuce.

Guiseppe and his staff do a great job at making you feel special when you enter the door. They always have smiles on their faces and are quick to serve you. Guiseppe often changes what he cooks on different days and seems very proud of the food. Well he should be! Because his food is great. Try his chicken & broc, his assorted pastas, his empanadas, his spinach rolls, his antipasto salad. They make any salad you like with a variety of ingredients they have available. They also make great sandwiches and wraps. Ask them to surprise you and you won’t be disappointed. One time they made me a whole wheat wrap with chicken cutlet, roasted red peppers, and mozzarella — heaven. I was so full but wanted more. They also have a dessert section with a selection of pastries, cookies, and cakes. Their coffee and iced coffee always hits the spot. I’m totally loving this little establishment. Will be coming back… often.

The food is decent, but the ick factor will prevent me from going back ever again. The people make your food with the same gloves they use to touch money in the register without getting fresh ones after. Gross! I’ve caught them three times. How can these people not understand or care about basic sanitation? Yuck!

Very nice addition to the Rego Park area. The selection is huge; where else can you buy a cheese empanada, a beef patty, pasta salad, turkey sandwich and a latte, with a cannoli for dessert? I almost wonder how fresh some of the food is, I just had a coffee and the cannoli and they were both great. Nice place to sit and chat with a friend you havent seen in awhile. If not for all the fruit flies keeping us company would have given 5 stars

It looked like a nice place to grab a snack. Very clean, fairly large and pleasant décor. I might go back and try their food/coffee. But as far as Pastries go — cookies in particular — it is not really a bakery. I asked the guy behind the counter who makes their cupcakes, cookies, bread and he said they order it from different places. I bought a box of their cookies for $ 12 per pound and it was totally not worth it. The cookies were borderline stale and tasteless. Hope to update my review with better news…

Been coming here once a week now since my last review and i have not been disappointed. The place is always super clean, they serve you super fast and the prices are very reasonable for the area. I took my coworker here for a salad and we both thought they made a mistake and undercharged us.

I cannot believe that anybody gave this place more than 2 stars. Awful. I read the review to the right and decided to take a leisurely walk from 76th Ave. to Rego Park and try a chocolate croissant. I got the croissant and a peanut butter cupcake since I had heard that the red velvet cupcakes were so good. I sat down, ready to be blown away, and… um…no. One bite of the cupcake proved a huge disappointment. The flavor profiles were WAY off. There wasn’t a hint of peanut butter and the overdone, extremely dry cupcake underneath had a lemony flavor. Lemon and peanut butter do not mix to begin with and, although there may have been only one peanut present in the frosting, the flavors still did not compliment each other. I stopped ingesting the cupcake straight away and took a bite of the croissant. Another epic failure. The pastry tasted of freezer or fridge… The staff behind the counter had thrown in a free almond challah ring from easter with dyed eggs all over it(slightly disgusting, but I took the free bread thinking that it may be good on its own after throwing the blue eggs aside). I went back up to them and returned the ring stating that, if the ring were anything like the other baked goods, I wasn’t interested. The staff seemed more offended than anything at the fact that I didn’t like the food. I quickly told them that I didn’t expect compensation or refunds, I just didn’t like the baked goods and was leaving. They tried to convince me that the croissants were fresh by opening the case and poking the pastry with bare fingers and saying, «see…it’s soft.» I said, «It can be soft and still be bad.» Then, one girl said, «I know for a fact that they came in this morning.» I assured her that the delivery date had nothing to do with my complaint. which was just strictly that the food is of poor quality and tastes badly. I would never recommend this place… even to someone who eats mostly store bought cookies and desserts.

Rego Park has needed a place like this for quite some time, and we had been waiting for it to open since its awning went up in the summer of 2010. It is a «non-denominational» bakery, where all varieties of beautiful, sugary deliciousness are created equal. The pastry chef, A.J. Saputhanthri was named Pastry Chef of the Year at the International Food Show in 2009, and holds various other titles.(He beat out Bruno Settepani of Pasticceria Bruno fame– which was what I believed to be, up until now, the gold standard in pastry excellence.) Saputhanthri studied in Switzerland and worked for establishments such as Russo’s on the Bay. From the selection available in Rego Park Pastry, he can do anything and he can do it well. Whereas most bakeries specialize in Italian cookies, or French pastries, or bread or cupcakes, this bakery has something for everyone! Before Lent began, I treated myself to a black and white cookie, and ended up getting my grandmother hooked when I shared it with her. It was THEBEST black and white ever. I enjoyed their red-velvet mini-cake but now that it is Lent, I am simply content to admire the artistry in the pastry case. They have elegant hand-made chocolates(even sugar-free!) and good coffee!!! The place is clean, the staff is friendly and they have convenient hours. Now, if only they could open a gym next-door to work off the calories.
