I’ve been coming here for years. Shame on me for not writing a review sooner. I would come here regularly for all hair purposes(cut, color, blow dry, etc.) and I’m faithful to Sam who is honest about what he can or can’t do for your hair. Prices are reasonable for the work! 5 stars for Sam. This year I had started getting my nails done usually while getting my hair done however I think I’m just going to stick to getting my hair done only. Last week the nail tech cut me and my thumb wouldn’t stop bleeding, she then proceeded to apply the gel polish over the dried up blood *sigh* — 1 star for that. Anyways, I love Sam; go to Sam, he’s the most charismatic hair dresser there!

I have gone to T & J Beauty Salon many times for highlights, haircuts, and to have my hair blow dried. Their prices are reasonable and I am very happy with the results. Tony, Sam, and Yafa have all done my hair and they do a great job. The employees are all very nice. I will be going back.

I’m a regular at this salon. I always get my nails done by Miriam. She’s very professional. Always does a great job. Takes her time to make sure the job is done neatly. The shoulder/back massages while my nails dry are the best. I will continue to go here for my nails.

This review is for Tony the hair dresser. I’ve been going to Tony for years now, even before he worked at T&J hair salon because I love his haircuts THAT much. He is amazing at layering hair, and is able to create a choppy, defined layer look or something more subtle(Ive had both throughout the years). To his credit, the only other place I have found which can create choppy/defined layers like he can is a salon in Brooklyn which caters to the«punk» crowd for 5x the cost of this place. Tony is a great listener and gives you what you want, although tends to cut a little more than you ask for, so be conservative when you tell him how much you want off. Either way, your hair will look great even as it grows out. I’ve recommended him to 2 of my girlfriends now, both who absolutely love him(and the price, being $ 20 – 25 for a cut and wash) and trek all the way from Brooklyn for a cut. I am honestly surprised there arent more reviews of this place for their hair cutting service, because I think its definitely a gem in Rego Park.

I am writing this as I wait for my nails to dry. Worst. pedicure. ever. This is my second time here; Last time I got a pedicure and they did a sloppy job on my toes. I got home and discovered sloppy edges, bubbles under coats and smudges. I vowed I wouldn’t return but I had a nail emergency and the nearby and superior Rouge Nails was fully booked so I forced myself in here. First I was directed to the pedicure chairs when no technician was available. When I headed again to the front, someone in the front yelled at the pedicure techs to get me a chair, so one pointed to an empty chair and told me to sit. I didn’t want to because — well, the basin wasn’t clean and a live ROACH was in it. Finally one tech slapped the other and cleaned the basin enough to fill with water and soaking salts. The other tech angrily slid over when she was done to do my nail cleaning. She wasn’t pleased and my toes got the brunt of her anger. I had cuticles and she half heartedly pushed them back without looking at them but somehow also managed to stab me in the nail beds repeatedly. The leg massage was merely pushing lotion around my legs. Remembering the bad job from my first time, I opted for clear polish. She stabbed at my toes with the polish, then shoved my feet into a nearby pair of salon flip flops and told me to go to the dry station. I watched as she rinsed off the basin, tossed the pumice stone into the sanitizer… and then place the glass dish with the nail cutting equipment she just used on me… onto a nearby manicure station. Without washing it or sanitizing. And now I’m watching her perform a manicure on another customer using the tools she just used on my feet. There’s got to be a sanitation body that governs nail salons and can fine them for this? I swear on my unborn first child’s life that I will never use this salon again. No nail emergency is worth this poor service and a possible infection. I’ll consider the $ 17 I just spent on a pedicure that took 10 minutes as a necessary loss for my own stupidity for giving this place a second chance.

Very bad service. Totally disappointed. It was crowded but that’s no excuse to do a horrible service. I went for pedicure. It was done in 5 minutes. She was super fast and very irritated mood. She didn’t clean properly and the after massage was very bad. Never going back. Waste of money.

I’ve had my nails done at this salon 3x thus far. 2/3x I have had good experiences with one of the nail technicians, «Jane», I believe is her name. This 3rd and last time, I had an OK mani/pedi by Lina followed by an extremely unpleasant experience. After my service was completed, Lina said that my finger nails were probably dry and if I would like to pay at that time. I said, «Ok.» She offered to «help me» get my money out of my purse and I said, «Since my nails are dry, I would rather do it myself, thank you.» After paying and receiving my change, she just stood there staring at the money. I was already very uncomfortable and I had to use the bathroom so I asked her where it was and I went. I thought about how much to tip her and before I could do so I saw that she was waiting for me outside of the ladies room. She asked me, «Are you done?» I said, «Yes, thank you.» She said, «Are you going to tip me?» I said, «Yes, I’m not gone yet and I always tip. When do I not tip? I had to use the bathroom.» She acted like she didn’t understand me and rolled her eyes. I opened up my precious wallet, gave her a 20% tip, and left. I’m writing this review because I think this place has a lot of potential and I like to give local businesses my money. However, if they cannot measure up to the high quality of service as that of their competitors, their customers will stop coming without saying a word.
