Food wasn’t very good. Tempura was over fried, rice had hard pieces of either uncooked or dried rice mixed in with the cooked rice. Beef was sliced with the grain so it was tough and chewy. The udon nabeyaki was bland and disappointing. Sadly, our group really didn’t enjoy our dinner here. We didn’t try any of their sushi but I probably won’t expect much after our experience there.

All right, this review is going to sound fake because my experience was SOINSANE, but this all really happened. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner around 8:00 pm on a week night last week. There were two other groups in the restaurant, one being a group of three 20-something girls. These girls were very obviously under the influence of something. The waiter kept serving them shots even though they were clearly impaired. I’ve never seen children act so poorly in a restaurant — they were yelling, running around, literally screaming along to the music playing. They all kept leaving to use the(single toilet) restroom together and they would run back, screaming and jumping around. The other party present asked them to lower their voices and they shouted at them, claiming that they were regulars and«just having fun.» The waiter came over and instead of asking them to control themselves, gave them a hug. The food itself: we had to ask twice for our drinks and they never brought us the spoons we asked for for our soup. The rolls were okay, but the fish portions seemed smaller than at Sakura(a block or two away). Later one member of their party began passing out at the table, slumped over with her eyes rolling around in her head. One of her friends noticed me looking at them and started screaming at me to «mind my own fucking business.» When we told them that it looked like their friend needed help immediately, the two girls who weren’t(allegedly) overdosing on something began screaming obscenities at us. At this point we had had enough and left the restaurant. The waitstaff did absolutely NOTHING about their«regulars.» Is this the kind of patronage this restaurant encourages? Regulars or not, they’ve lost our business for life. The whole experience was unbelievable.

I’m reviewing based on the three item combo(salmon shio, saba shio, and tonkatsu). I had this meal to go and they messed up my order, they gave me salmon teriyaki instead of shioyaki, but it was ok because teriyaki wasn’t too sweet. Saba was Ok, wasn’t too fishy with lemon. Tonkatsu, It was thin and flavorless. They could improve on their sauce. I’d rather go to Diner Japonica for 3-item combo as they offer better ingredients for less money.

Been here twice and my husband loves the«I dare you» roll. I oder the combo dinner with the avocado and vegetable tampora and I am satisfied. Prices are reasonable too. Overall good experience and will continue to go back for a quick sushi fix.

Been here twice…1st time was fine. 2nd time, well here we are. Me and two coworkers came in after work on a Sunday. a man came over and took our drink orders. we took awhile because we couldn’t find hot tea, which apparently they don’t have. in the middle of ordering he goes, «I’ll bring you water to start.» ok fine. the menu is so hard to read so we took some time. the lady came over and says, «okay order?» we asked for a few more minutes«well we close soon.» we didn’t realize this, she could have mentioned it when we came in. we were ready to order, I ordered one roll about to order my second and she cuts me off and asked the next person for her order. fine, I’ll spend less money in your business. she spoke very rushed. plus side, we got our food quickly. the male server was very kind and mentioned that the station was closing so if we needed any more rolls tell him now. we left before the two other parties that were there before without a thanks or a goodbye. we came in right before closing, we didn’t know, but that doesn’t mean the server should be so rude. decent sushi. awful awful service.

Furious. The manager«Johnny» called me honey and poor. Summary of occurrence: he ran my credit card(which has funds and I showed him my account to prove it) and it did not work, I explained that it was an old card which often has issues with some machines but I had just purchased drinks 30 minutes before trying to purchase dinner here and it had worked just fine. But he refused to run the numbers manually and instead told me I quote«you have no money honey». So this man not only called me poor but also used a condescending comment. We argued for at least 5 minutes but He refused to try to problem solve with me and told me to leave. I literally called him sir and asked him to please respect me. I have never been so humiliated in my life. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Needless to say I walked out with no food. Unilocal won’t allow me to put zero stars but this place deserves a negative

First time I’ve eaten here and it’s the worse sushi combo I’ve ever had, service, food presentation and employee attitude needs a lot of work! Such in a hurry to close out for lunch, food were served one at a time instead of into a bento box! I would not give it a half a star even but no half star choice!

We ordered the poke tuna appetizer but the tuna was like rubber. After we complained the waiter agreed to take it back. The rolls had too much rice and not much fish.

Mediocre sushi restaurant. The price is high to average, and there is a lot of variety of sushi that it is sometimes hard to pick. If you order sushi, there are no side dishes(not even miso soup or salad). Service can get slow if you come with a group, but they do take pre-orders if you are coming with a big group.

Three stars just because of politeness and cleanliness. Something was off though, didn’t seem like good restaurant vibe. Service was awkward, servers having a seat and having conversations with each other. I know it’s was early on but its unprofessional. On the brighter side hot sake was good and well priced.

As vegetarian, we generally have tough luck finding sushi places, let alone good ones… Suisha was simply amazing. From long list of vegetarian options to exotic veggie rolls(don’t miss the spicy veggie and fried avocado/onion) that left us wanting to try some other options we couldn’t. In fact, we over ordered between the two of us, 4(x6) rolls. Oh and to top it off some authentic mochi. The presentation added to the overall experience too. Especially the tangerine they give at the end, a nice touch. We will definitely come back for the rest of the menu.

Ok. After not going back for a few months I decided to go back and give it another try. The food was excellent(as always), and the service was really good this time around. I think that the service quality goes down when the guest volume increases, so it was nice going in on a day/time where it wasn’t so busy.

Such a bummer. The avocado roll was tiny, and my «vegetarian» veggie tempura rolls had fish eggs speckled throughout the rice. I totally understand that it can happen at a restaurant that serves fish, BUT it’s less acceptable when you specifically advertise a vegetarian section. C’mon, how hard is it to clean off an area to roll sushi for people who don’t want to eat roe? I tried to pick it all out, but it was totally impossible and absolutely killed my appetite. I was very relieved that they took my uneaten food off the bill, but I’m very disappointed with this place. MYREVIEWDOESNOTMEANTHISPLACEISBADFOREVERYONE, JUSTVEGETARIANS. I understand it may come across as unfair to the business, but I’m just sharing my experience with other vegetarians and vegans.

I would not come back here unless i really did not have any other options. Service was slow and crabby. The sushi was OK. i ordered sashimi, which I found to be of poor quality. Small pieces and not very fresh. I felt like I had picked up the sushi in the fridge at Target.

A sort of dingy little sushi place on the corner, not supremely authentic, but in the melting pot of today’s world, it’s not something shocking, really. SERVICE. A little slow, not very personable. But hey, they got the job done. SASHIMIQUALITY. Pretty fresh, I was actually pleasantly surprised by how delicious the butterfish and salmon were. None of that fishy smell or weird texture like at lesser sushi joints. ROLLS. Kind of oddly themed(they have a board with specials dubbed ‘New Year’, ‘Thanksgiving’, and ‘Christmas’. Nothing really stood out to me, pretty average stuff. Decent neighborhood joint for some fresh fish in an unassuming atmosphere.

Probably the best RWC sushi empirically. I like their specialty rolls an awful lot; they have zodiac rolls, one for each of the twelve astrological signs, as well as a thanksgiving roll, a Christmas roll, and a New Year’s roll. I find their Pink Lady roll to be interesting; elsewhere, the signature pink soy paper enrobes the roll’s exterior, but here, the soy paper is inside, giving the roll a more subtle texture. Their miso soup is more of a red miso, giving it an earthy quality and a coffee-like, umami feeling at the end. The quality at Suisha House is always consistent, and the staff is friendly. There is no shortage of patrons, and although it’s never boisterous like a mixed sushi-hibachi restaurant(thankfully), there’s always a pleasant din of conversation that mingles with inoffensive top-40 pop music and the clink of tableware. Pairs well with tonkatsu donburi and a Redwood City roll.

I came here a few years ago with my family and really liked it, but I went back for lunch today and was definitely disappointed. The food isn’t bad, but neither is it good. If you go, I recommend the salmon teriyaki(truly delicious) and the salad(love their dressing). Stay away from the spicy tuna roll, which I thought had a weird flavor, and the california roll, which had too much rice and not enough filling. 2 stars seems harsh and I feel bad giving it that rating, but«Meh. I’ve experienced better» very accurately sums up my feeling. If you’re looking for an alternative place, I like Kobe in Foster City. TIP: Go for lunch! They have a great lunch special where you can get a ton of food for $ 10.50.

***3.5 stars*** here’s my tagline: food — above average, service — just average. fortunately, when i came here for sunday lunch with my friend, it wasn’t very busy, at all, so we were able to be seated right away. we noticed there was a tv in the back with the big 49ers game on, and several interested customers with their eyes on the screen. the menu listed your typical japanese appetizers, lunch/bento specials, and sushi rolls. there was LOTS of special sushi rolls to choose from, so naturally, we decided to stick with those. we ordered the following rolls to share: +aries: tuna and avocado on the inside, lemon slice on top. +citrus salmon: salmon and asparagus on the inside, creamy citrus sauce drizzled on top. +tiger: avocado, cucumber and crunchy on the inside, unagi and salmon on top. +broadway: ebi, crab, unagi and avocado in soybean wrap. the aries roll was my favourite b/c it was very fresh and had a twist on the traditional tuna avocado roll, literally, b/c of the twist of lemon on top. the citrus salmon roll was my second favourite since the salmon and asparagus blended well together, and the citrus cream drizzle was slightly sweet and creamy and complemented the sushi without overpowering it. the tiger and broadway rolls were just ok, in my opinion, if anything, too much fried batter(tempura) and not enough fish and veggies. for one of the pieces, i actually took off most of the tempura portion and realized that it accounted for half of that piece! i would come again and probably just order the aries and citrus salmon rolls, and maybe try a few of their other non-tempura based rolls. conveniently located in downtown redwood city. street parking and parking structures available throughout downtown.
