My favorite sushi place in peninsula region. Love ramen as well.

Very very slow service, food was ok for the price, i would say over priced for the most part. Presentation was great, but the taste is really average. Really Average. Most of the sushis and sashimi were fresh, but the texture and flavor were missing. They sometimes puts too much eel sauce on the sushi and it took away the original taste of the fish. Server was not very attentive, we have to repeatedly ask for another chopstick because we only had 1 … instead of 1 pair. They never gave us any water or tea… and only asked us how is everything when we asked for the bill. Overall i won’t recommend this place to others, and probably won’t be back.

The worst service ever! The staff just could not wait for a single second to demonstrate their hostilities. I cannot imagine that you can get any kind of pleasant dining here. Seriously doubt how they get the ratings here.

OK food but pricey for what it was. Waited 40 min for a table, and while for the food. — Bento box was $ 15 — but they don’t have white meat chicken teriyaki and the salmon was overcooked. — Salmon roll(complimentary due to long wait) earned them extra stars, but was a bit too mayo-filled for my likes 2.5 stars but rounded up. Perhaps this place is better known for their sushi?

Love this place! The fish was so fresh and everyone is very friendly there. They are quick, but the place also has a good ‘vibe’ — it’s welcoming and has cute décor! Would eat here everyday if I could afford it :)

Great Sushi and great service to boot! I recommend the sashimi dinner because you get great quality fish and not the standard salmon, tuna and hamachi. You get butter fish as well which is very tasty! Great take out option as well as s place to go hang out for a night out with my wife!

3.5 stars but rounding up for the super friendly service. I finally had the chance to try out Oh Baby Sushi for a work lunch after passing by previously and seeing the huge lines at dinner. They are located all the way on the top of a giant hill in Redwood City, so it took a while to get to. We made reservations for a party of 5 on a Thursday a day ahead of time, and our table was ready when we arrived. If you come right around opening, there are plenty of seats available, but it was pretty crowded when we left around 12:45pm since this is a small restaurant. Definitely make reservations for dinner(if possible), or try to come early if you want to avoid waiting. We tried: –Green Salad: Yum! They have miso sesame dressing, which I love. Highly recommended for any miso sesame dressing lovers. –Hot Mama(Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab, English Cucumber Topped w/Spicy Tuna, Jalapeño, Chef’s Special Sauce, $ 14.95, ): Eh, not my favorite since I don’t like soft shell crab much, so I wouldn’t get this again. –Volcano(Spicy Tuna, Avocado, Mango Topped w/Seared White Tuna, Jalapeño, Garlic Cream Sauce, Chef’s Special Sauce, Crispy Honey Walnut, $ 14.95): Interesting combination of ingredients, and they worked well together. I liked the sweetness of the mango contrasted with the spicy tuna– recommended! –Double Salmon(Salmon, Jalapeño, Shiso Leaves, Lemon Topped w/Salmon, Avocado, $ 13.95): Pretty good, although I wasn’t a fan of the shiso leaves in here. I would get this again though. –Deluxe Chirashi( ): Pretty good, but we wished this was served in a bowl instead of on a giant plate. The fish was fresh, and we especially liked the Santa Barbara uni, salmon belly, toro, and salmon. The rest of the fish was just ok. This was a little on the pricey side, although you did get premium cuts of fish, so we would consider getting it again. Service was great, and the servers are super friendly and make sure you have a good dining experience. The rolls are on the pricier side since you can get slightly cheaper and bigger rolls at Joy Sushi in San Mateo, but the rolls here are a bit more creative. I would definitely consider coming back in the future for more sushi. Parking is the most difficult part about coming here since the lot is very small and gets packed during dinner time.

Great food, super fresh fish, amazing presentation, and awesome service! I have no complaints! My friend and I got their oyster shooters to start – I can’t remember the exact name, but they were like $ 4 or $ 5 each. Really good, though! Definitely a mouthful, but all the flavors blend together very well. It comes with oyster, masago, uni, raw quail egg, and some other garnishes. The raw quail egg seems really intimidating at first, just don’t think about it too much, lol. I only really tasted the oyster and uni. The textures of the individual ingredients are all pretty different, so the combination is really unique! Highly recommend trying it at least once :) For my main dish, I decided to go with the salmon rice bowl. It comes with hella salmon, I was not expecting that much! The salmon is so so fresh, each piece literally melts in your mouth! So goooood! They also give you a good amount of salmon roe, which adds a nice saltiness to the dish. It comes with a good chunk of rice too, and cucumbers, so everything is well-balanced. Prices here are so reasonable for the quality of food that you get. I’m definitely coming back to try their sushi next time! The workers here are also super friendly, and the food came out surprisingly fast! Fantastic experience overall.

Always fresh and great presentation. Try their daily specials. Blue Fin had a special wasabi sauce — delicious! Hamachi carpaccio is also delicious, but does have a strong garlic taste. So, only order if you really like garlic. Never been disappointed at this sushi restaurant. They also have great servers!

I’ve been in search of a place that serves good vegetarian sushi and I’m so happy I found this place. I have tried a lot of their veggie options on the menu, some of my favorites are — call me nuts — mango avocado asparagus — veggie tempura The servers were really friendly and make you feel well attended to.

I was so hoping that this was going to be at least a three star experience since it’s close to our house but the awful service and subpar quality of the food makes this a one star. We were crammed in by the drink fridge and several servers knocked over my daughters cup while bumping into our table. The food arrived at random and kids food took over 45 minutes, arriving as we had finished our meals. We asked at three separate occasions where their food was. The sushi wasn’t cut right and the quality was just ok. Go to sushi plus in woodside plaza and save yourself money and have a better experience.

It’s been a week since we went here and me and the wife are still talking about it. The fish was amazingly fresh and the presentation was artistic. No just slapping some thin slices on a plate for these guys. The sea bass sashimi was a amazing flower pattern and just put a smile on my face. Currently I am following low carb so the rice free sushi role was very cool to find. On a last note my wife who is not a sushi fan also enjoyed her salmon bento box and cucumber rolls so much she actually wants to go back. Score!

Fresh and innovative sushi for a fair price Restaurant seating area is on the smaller side, but there are tables for parties of 2 – 4. Attentive service! I got the cupcake roll, tuna with jalapeño, red onion, tempura: so good and so unique!

I previously gave this place a five star, but something awful has happened. I’m hoping it was just a one day fluke and this place is still spectacular. Unfortunately, they broke so many basic rules about sushi, the ratings had to be downgraded. My companions actually thought this place deserves a one star. They still don’t know how to do their rice. Chirashi is supposed to be rice with vinegar, salt and sugar. Unfortunately, their rice is completely unseasoned. They still don’t know how to cut their fish properly, sizes being all ranges of triangle, square and random thickness. But the most disappointing, and main reason for the downgrade, is the quality of their fish. What used to be fresh and tender is now a frozen mess akin to the terrible slob you find at cheap all you can eat sushi places. They also should go back to learning the basics of dealing with fish, one being that you NEVER are supposed to serve fish wet or with ice… as it can enhance the distasteful«fishy» odor. One friend actually couldn’t finish his meal because the quality was so poor. The leftovers taken home just a couple hours later smelled so bad it had to be tossed. Many restaurants open with high quality to lure people in, and then downgrade on quality to maximize profits. Truly hope that isn’t the case here. What a pity that would be…

I seriously love the new look! I love it so much that I feel like it’s necessary to write an update! Please feel free to check out my last review — it’s more detailed, I think, and was a ROTD way back when!(I hope this link works… :x): New wooden benches and tables! Really brings the room together. It’s more clean, fresh and inviting. I had not been back to Oh Baby Sushi for a few months before last night, so I noticed something was different… I love how open the space looks now. It’s still not as roomy as I’d like, but it’s a great update. I wonder when this happened? Still the same great service and quality. I ordered the Call Me Nuts, as usual, and the Veggie Tempura roll. I brought my vegetarian friend here last night and we both enjoyed our meals. I’m actually starting to prefer the tempura roll to the nuts — probably because it’s nice and warm! I guess I like ‘cooked’ sushi. :) I still don’t eat seafood, so it’s great to see that their vegetarian menu is still full of options! I think some new items were added, like the veggie tacos? Not sure what that entails, but maybe I’ll try it next time. My friend ordered the Crunch V.G. Roll. The presentation of the roll changed and it looks and tastes way better! Really nicely presented. It felt/looked like I was eating high end sushi at a small, cozy strip mall lol. I’m not a big fan of this roll, but I recommend if you like cream cheese. Pricing is around your average sushi restaurant prices — a bit overpriced, especially for the area it’s in, but I feel like that’s just how it is for all sushi… I don’t mind paying for it every so often. They’re big rolls anyway! I can’t speak for the pricing vs. quality for actual fish-sushi but if it’s on par with the veggie rolls, then I think it’s worth it. I’ll be back! Maybe there will be even more awesome changes by the next time I come in! :D

Even though we live closer to San Mateo and their nine billion sushi restaurants, we often make the 20 minute drive to Oh Baby Sushi instead. It is kinda hole-in-the-wall, upbeat date night, and family friendly restaurant all in one. It’s tucked in a neighborhood strip mall away from downtown, yet every night we come there’s often a little wait to get in. We like the varied options on the menu — there are lots of creative rolls to choose from(I usually do the Angry Fish which has butter fish and crunchy onion flakes), ramen, the usual teriyaki everything. While it might not be groundbreaking food, everything we’ve had is pretty solid. The watermelon juice is really yummy! It’s also a few doors down from a Baskin Robbins, so we usually follow up dinner with a couple of cones for the toddlers, which makes for a good family dinner out.

Randomly stopped by here after hiking in the area. I really liked their menu offering. They’ve got some unique rolls here as well as a good selection of fish and appetizers. The place is pretty small inside, but very clean and well kept despite the exterior. Tried their fish tacos which were great on top of the deep fried nori. They came with lots of fish. My favorite roll here was the Angry Fish Roll, the crunchy onions made it really awesome. It had a good kick of flavor as well. The menu is really extensive here offering more than just sushi too. They offer udon, ramen, soba, donburis, and bentos as well. Wish I had room for dessert, they have an interesting selection there as well. While it’s not really in a particularly busy spot, I’d recommend stopping by if you’re ever in the area.

Real good sushi. Yes, I mean it. I went here with a friend on a Wednesday evening at about 6. The place was pretty deserted when we went, but got filled up pretty quick. We ordered California roll(pretty standard for me), Rock N’ Roll, Spicy Tuna roll, edamame, and guava juice. All of them were delicious, edamame was cooked very well and salted just to the correct extent. They have juices on the menu, which I thought wasn’t common at sushi bars; I loved it anyway. Guava juice was a good lot for me, I took it for take away. The service was very friendly. We got plum wine shots, on the house. I am not a big wine person, but I surprisingly liked the plum wine. All in all, I am going to be here again, soon.

This place has a lot of fresh sushi and based on what my friends told me the fish is actually pretty fresh. I ate the salmon roe(ikura) and I thought it was okay, certainly not the worst but I’ve had a lot better elsewhere. I tried the curry with karage and unfortunately it was just not right. The curry was not thick nor was it the rich dark brown color it normally is. It wasn’t very flavorful and it tasted more of a Thai curry than a Japanese curry. The karage was more of a tempura batter which is absolutely not correct! It was a yellow color instead of a rich dark brown or orange color. Service was good.

Unilocal was designed so you discover out of the way places like this. Who knew such a great sushi place was found in a tiny shopping center? If you’re not that hungry, get yourself the garlic edamame. If they offered this in a donburi sized bowl I would gladly eat all of it. Garlic wasn’t overcooked and the spice level(ordered medium for reference) won’t kill your palette. I really appreciated the variety of vegetarian sushi choices. The tamago(cooked egg) was okay, but the real surprise was the mango asparagus roll. You get asparagus tempura in a maki roll with sweet mango on top. I loved the sweet-savory combination. The little cup of watermelon slush served to end your menu was perfect. Though next time I’ll make room for the extensive dessert menu. But then that means I can’t eat as much sushi. Oh choices. Locals figured out how great this place is before I did. By the time we left there was a considerable line of people waiting for seats.
