Cremelin

I buy pirozhki from Natalia for every occasion when we have a party. I say to myself «this is for guests» but in fact we eat almost all vatrushki and cabbage pirozhki by ourselves all the time. They are so great, that if my grandma lived the next house I would still prefer Natalia’s ones. If you are a pirozhki lover, you must try these at least once.
Just be aware, you have to order them in advance, unfortunately there is no walk-​in as of October 2015 (please, open a café!)

Just fyi, this bakery doesn’t have a store front, you have to call and order and then pick up at the address listed. I did that this morning, everything was delicious!

I picked up an order of piroshki this morning for a team breakfast. Outstanding stuff. First of all, they are gorgeous. Golden brown all over that promises a nice crust. You can see pics from other reviews, because I didn’t have time to take any because I was too busy eating.
The dough is fairly thin so you don’t feel like you’re eating a ton of carbs. The fillings are subtly flavored and delicious. I personally tried the beef & mushroom, chicken & mushroom, potato & mushroom, and cabbage & mushroom. (Apparently the person who ordered loves the mushrooms, which I admit is fine with me.) All delicious. I look forward to trying some of the ~20 other flavors.
The only reason I don’t give Cremelin 5 stars is that our order was simply not close to ready when I arrived to pick it up. Luckily I had the time to spare, but that is definitely not always the case, so I’ll be sure to highlight that I need a timely pickup if I’m on a tight schedule. The good news is that I got to watch them cooked by hand, so I can assure you that these are indeed, made on premises to order.
I’m already looking forward to my next time.

Could have been that I just got the wrong items from here but I really wasn’t feeling it.
The Pastries were really very ”blah’. Nothing stood out about them and Custard filled Sweet Pastry was definitely not worth the $ 2 I paid for it, I can get something very similar from a Mexican Bakery for a fraction of the price.
The Meat filled Piroshki was better but still left me underwhelmed. The pastry was on the dry side and the filling sparse. They do make nice hand held nibbles for Parties though and being situated in RWC as people come out of the bars I guess it’s proving to work well for the owner.

As I was walking in circles I decided to call the number provided because I thought I was going mad. They do not have a store front and orders need to be placed 24 hours in advanced. I guess they serve during the bars business hours. Boo! I was so looking forward to a piroshki.

This is the best piroshki I’ve had in 20 years! Nathalie is great, I found her thanks to Unilocal and just looking at the pictures I could tell this is not the below average piroshki you find elsewhere. I sat with Nathalia in her kitchen and she is truly a perfectionist. Super kind and professional and the piroshki was out of this world.
I agree with another Unilocalers that this is the best appetizer for parties. We had ours as dinner with salad and bought an assortment of: chicken mushroom, beef mushroom, beef and cheese, cabbage and eggs, cheese and herb, cheese and spinach… Including apricot twist and cheese/​pumpkin vatrushka.
They were all amazing but one of my favorites was the cheese and spinach and my husband went crazy over the beef and cheese. I can’t wait to order more.
Don’t let the ordering process stop you from trying the best piroshki in Bay Area, it is super easy and Nathalia is very accommodating.

These are even better that my grandmother back in Russia made. Just perfect! Aaand you can eat them the next day — the stay really fresh.

Over the years I have tastes many different kinds of piroshki, and was quite satisfied with them.
Everything changed after I tasted piroshki made by Cremelin.
They are not simply baked — they are crafted, with engineering precision.

Pirozhki (def): individual-​sized baked pastries stuffed with a variety of fillings, such as meat, potatoes, mushrooms, eggs, jam, cheese, etc.
Seriously, as good as it gets! I was throwing a party, and being Russian I decided to have Russian food. Called Natalia less than 24 hours before the party, we had a really nice chat on the phone, she told me about her menu and explained what she can/can’t do on such a short notice. She even accommodated my non-​standard pick up time (4 pm).
She was nice enough to deliver the rest of the order that wasn’t ready by the time I got there at no charge and threw in a vatrushka :) Absolutely delicious!
The pirozhki looked AMAZING, I didn’t even have a chance to try one, because they were gone THAT fast. People loved them. And by loved, I mean LOVED them.
If you’re throwing a party and looking for amazing hors d’œuvre, forget the boring spanakopita, devilled eggs and that kind of stuff, definitely go for pirozhki (American public loves them too)

This review is long overdue. I’ve been meaning to write a review for Cremelin for a while now, but I was probably hung over the next day and never got around to it.
Cremelin’s piroshkis are freakin’ awesome! Especially when you’ve got the munchies after having a few drinks.
I’ve only had them at the Underground when she’s there. She has all kinds and every single one I’ve had was delicious. I know I have some that I like more than others, but I can’t remember which were my favs.
If you see the woman with piroskhis, buy a lot and share with friends.

Granted everytime I have had one of these, it has been nearing the midnight hour after my usual libations have been enjoyed, I can still confirm these are the best piroshkis I have ever had.
My favorite is the spinach or green onion, especially when they’re hot and right out of the oven. In fact I won’t have them any other way!
This great women with her heavy accent provides us late night dwellers with delightful satisfying treats planting her self right inside The Underground Bar. Her being there makes the platform for comedy upstairs all that much more bearable. Love the comedians and open mic, dislike the venue greatly, hence the love for Cremelin’s warm, soft and mouthwatering Piroskis!

Visiting The Underground in Redwood City wouldn’t be complete without one of Natalia’s piroshki’s! She a scrappy businesswoman who created this partnership with this local hangout to bring fresh, delicious pastries filled with chicken, beef, veggies, cheese, and sweets to the late night crowd. I personally love her pastries. Even more, I admire her spirit, and the example she has set of how to create a business out of sheer determination and persistence!

The Piroshkis were the best I have tasted in the area. I truly hope that she will be able to open a storefront to make these tasty treats available to people throughout the day. She already caters events, but the only on demand location for her piroshki is late night at the Underground in Redwood City.
I had two different types of meat pirsoshki and they were great. My wife loved the vegetarian piroshki I brought home with me.

Awesome piroshkis. Tried the chicken and herb and the beef and mushroom.
Excellent flavor.
Finding the business is a little confusing as they do not have a storefront.
The owner of the bakery operates out of the kitchen of the Underground Pub.
Piroshkis are made to order and ordering in advance is a must.

Her food is amazing!!! The bread that holds the food is soft and buttery. Its not a heavy feeling food. I would say its healthy. The owner is so nice and helpful. The pricing for her pastries is amazing as well!

These piroshkis are delicious! We sampled some while leaving The Underground in Redwood City pretty late last night and I was surprised at how good they are. I had a spinach and cheese piroshki but am wishing I had tried beef with mushrooms or others that she had. Natalia is awesome, too, and I got a hug with my piroshki! Am definitely returning :)

Very excited for them to open. Eagerly waiting…
