We go to Cattlemans about 3 times a year. This Memorial Day was our first visit this year, there were three of us. We will never go back again. The prime rib was a big disappointment, very tough and stringy. One order was rare the other two were medium. All arrived VERY rare. The salad was not up to what we have had in the past. Only the bread can be given an adequate rating. What has happened to this place? New owners or management? Someone needs to take a hard look at what is being served and if all the orders are correct.

This place has been declining over the past 10 months– Have ate their a few times and each time it gets worse. This week was the worst and we will not be going back. Their prices have gone way up and the food quality way down. The portions are small. We were brought a bowl of salad and the lettuce was brown along with the cucumbers and looked like days old with some freezer burn– we requested another bowl but no one had come to the table until our meal was brought but I still requested a new bowl. The baked potato was only half cooked. I had the salmon which was overdone. My husband and our friend had the Tri tip steak which had a few small pieces on the plate– The meal fro the 3 of us was 63.00. This is a lot of money to pay for what we got– I also sent the company a message on their website 3 days ago and have heard nothing!

Came here on a Monday night and had the 16 oz prime rib. The twice baked potato was very good and creamy smooth. It was good and perfectly cooked. The outside seasoning could have been a little more intense but overall it was very good. Even though it was around 8PM, I got stuck having dinner in the bar. It was OK at least I could watch TV while eating. The beans were a little flat. Portions were adequate.

I took my wife there for Valentines day and was not disappointed. We had reservations and were seated immediately upon arrival. Everyone was extremely friendly and courteous from the hostess, to the bus boys/girls, to our waiter. We both ordered the Prime Rib and had it served on a regular plate(they also offer it on a sizzling plate). It was the best Prime Rib I have ever eaten in my entire life! I have had«prime rib» at many places and really didn’t know what real Prime Rib was until we came here. It is a shame I have lived in Redding for nearly 20-years and have not ever been here. The in house aged prime rib was absolutely mouth watering. My wife and I each took our first bite and were speechless. We looked at each other with amazement. The taste, flavor, and tenderness was like nothing I have ever had before. I saw many steaks passing by and they looked perfectly seared and juicy. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu. I wish I could remember our waiters name so I could give him credit. However, every single employee there deserves credit! I did not see a frowning face. Everyone was happy, helpful, courteous, and genuine. That is really hard to find nowadays, but somehow it is alive and well there at Cattlemens.

This is my favorite place to go, any occasion will do. Great Food and Great Service!!! I highly recommend checking this out. We usually get the Pete’s Special, which is a 10 oz Top Sirloin Steak with an all you can eat family style Salad with your choice of dressing and a Potato or Rice and all you can eat Sour Dough Bread with the Best Butter I have ever eaten. It also includes a drink for $ 19. They are tender and juicy steaks, one of our friends gets the Prime Rib and enjoys that, but my favorite will always be the Sirloin. We have been eating here for almost 25 years and I never get tired of it. we’ll be seeing you soon. We were coming tonight, but had a family emergency and had to leave town. Hopefully next week.

Unfortunately we walked in on the night before Valentines Day and the restaurant was packed. We put our name on the hour long waiting list. Lucky for us, a table opened up in the bar and we were able to sit within just a few minutes. As busy as it was, a young man took our drink order right away, and the waitress showed up right after our drinks arrived. I’d give 10 stars for service if I could, because our every need was met. Our meal was perfect. Perfectly cooked steak, tender baby back ribs, and a twice baked potato that was yummy. Oh, and the all you can eat salad and hot crunchy bread, awesome! This was our first visit here, but it won’t be our last. Thanks to all who worked this very busy night and gave your best to your customers.

Ask the bartender, Monika, for a like and she’ll grab it with her hands. I asked for a Long Beach and she didn’t know the ingredients Nice ambiance and place. The little blonde hostess was super nice like a peach that is too nice to bite lol

I just got back from stuffing my sizable stomach with some really good food. I ordered the rib eye steak. It was a bit pricey, but it was worth the cost. Of course, I stuffed down two porter beers along with it so the price didn’t bother me too much. The steak had a lot of flavor and it tasted great. The wait for a table can be long so it’s good to get there a little early, but it is well worth the wait. Brittany was our waitress and she was very nice and took good care of us. The service was excellent.

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner tonight. Food was good, service was good… But there was a gigantic RAT walking all over the wooden slotted overhang directly above us. Gross. The waitstaff all came out too see it, but no one did ANYTHING about it… Nothing. No one even seemed to acknowledge the problem even though there were people getting up and pointing and everyone was clearly grossed out. No offer to comp our drinks… No apologies. I don’t think they handled this well at all and I’m super disappointed I spent $ 100 on a dinner for two where I totally lost my appetite. I question how a rat could get that big unless it has an adequate food source within the restaurant.

Today was my birthday and our place of choice tonight was Cattlemans. They didn’t disappoint. We were promptly greeted and hardly had to wait at all. There were many birthdays tonight and my server jokingly asked if we were celebrating a birthday I said yes, he asked if we wanted them to sing I said no thank you. But my rich cheesecake still came with a candle. My boyfriend and I both enjoyed our meals. Our steaks cooked perfectly and our sides were amazing. Everything cooked perfectly and drinks were above par. Thank you to the staff for also keeping our drinks full!

Once again, Cattleman’s did not disappoint me. I ordered the small sirloin steak(medium) with steamed broccoli. As as always seasoned and cooked to perfection. Our server Lee Ann(I’m not sure if I spelled it correctly) was wonderful. She’s friendly, attentive and proficient. I also appreciated the teamwork between the workers. My glass was never empty! I really like this place not only for the food but for the level of service they provide! My last review was 4 stars but since this is about my 6 – 7 time coming here and they are consistently awesome, I give them a 5-star rating. 100% recommend to anyone wanting great food and service!

Great food and an excellent environment! Friendly staff! I enjoy getting a god steak here do special occasions. I’ve had a few mixed drinks here, they were average at best. But you come here for steak, not for drinks, so I didn’t mind.

I used to go their on weds to take advantage of their 9.99 steak special. I know beef prices have gone up because of the draught so this special is now a bit more expensive and I forgive them for that. Anyway I didn’t look at the menu. I just got that. It comes with a steak some potatoes, unlimited salad, the beans and bread. I can’t remember the bread but I know it has good butter to go along with it. I like soft salty butter that is easy to spread. The salad is great. The reason it is great is because it has some fresh veggies. I know that they were not cut up last week and waiting in the fridge for me to eat them. I also know they were not all precut douced in preservatives and placed in a bag. They were obtained whole and cut up at the restaurant and served to me… Or at least that is how they taste. I like thousand island so I get thousand island. It is thick and sweet and creamy perfect for the salad. The salad has the lettuce, cucumbers, tomato, red onion, and croutons. Simple. But fresh. After eating a bunch of salad and bread, here comes the steak. The special is a petite 8 is steak but given the amount of salad and bread I have eaten I am not sure why I would want want more. The steak. I always ask for the steak medium rare because I am one of those ppl that do not mind the red juice and know that this is not blood. They cook it perfectly and simply. Maybe just salt and pepper on a charbroil grill. It is easy to chew but not melt in your mouth(which I personally don’t like). Oh yeah I out A1 sauce on my steak cuz I like it and I prefer the A1 to the cattlemans sauce they have there, which is sweet. The sides: They give you baked beans which are sweet. I suppose they are good for baked beans but I don’t really love bake beans(sweet beans to me are weird). So to me they are just ok. You get to choose your other side. I have had the mashed potato — these are nice and fluffy and a bit garlicky. The baked potato– they cook it well and put the classic toppings: Sour cream, chives, butter. And double baked potato. These are loaded with bacon and cheese and sour cream– like mashed potatoes and put back into the shell to bake again. First bite of these was heavenly. Good flavor and everything fatning you could possibly want in a potato. But after the second and third bite… Too much of a good thing. The service is good but not great. I have no complains but I cannot rave either.

Good road food when you’re driving I-5. Fast service, great for kids, steaks cooked to perfection. Nice menu, lots of good choices. I had a small steak, cooked just right. Wife had salmon, liked it. Three minor complaints: 1.) The salad, while generous, was unexciting. Iceberg lettuce with onions, baby tomatoes, and carrots. No spring mix or anything. 2.) The beans were cooked well, but surprisingly bland — I had to put steak sauce on them to flavor them up. 3.) The rolls were really tough, not crunchy, but tough like they had been microwaved or something. Coffee was very good, unusual for a place off the interstate! Service was just what it should be — fast, very friendly, not overbearing at all. Rest rooms were CLEAN!(Yay!) Décor was old, but in great condition. Surprisingly quiet for a place this large. Definitely worth a stop as you’re on the way to Oregon or Sacramento…

It was worth all the hype. We had a meal for two which was an appetizer. Main course. Salad and bread 2 sides and dessert for 65 $!! You can’t beat that with a stick ! We sat in the bar and had margaritas and started our meal with a delicious artichoke cheese dip with bread ! It was very good with large artichoke hearts in it ., and the sourdough bread was perfect. We ordered steak which was cooked to perfection. & flavorful and had plenty of salad .with a large baked potato. The waitress Sara was excellent ! she put up with my dads abrasive behavior with class and a smile. Food and service were all very good !

We decided to eat in the bar rather than wait the estimated15 minutes. Bad idea! The bartender/waiter was nice and friendly. We sat at one of the tall tables and had a cocktail. The table next to us had their food before our order was even taken. We ordered the $ 68 meal for two. After 20 minutes we got the entrée. The appetizer never arrived. We told them not to bother with it now. They adjusted the bill as follows. We were charged $ 23 for a really small piece of prime rib. We were charged another $ 23 for 6 ribs. They brought the included dessert in a box and put it on the table. We were charged for it even though the waiter said it would be comped. The food was mediocre at best. The manager did nothing to rectify the situation except for to get the check to us right a way. Wow, what a weak effort to provide quality customer service. We will never eat here again. Others seem to be unhappy with the service as well.

Easily accessible from Highway 5 this is a great place to stop for a meal. I’m a fan of the Cattlemen’s chain already but I found this site to be open, airy, and clean; not as dark as I’ve found some Cattlemen’s to be. I got their early so about a quarter of the tables had customers. My server was friendly and attentive. He had suggestions on the menu, talked me into trying the seasonal vegetable and boy was it good. My steak arrived cooked just right, the garlic fries were crispy and well seasoned. They have a special desert, deep fried apple pie with ice cream. It’s like churros batter wrapped around apples, fried to a light crispy brown, and then heavily covered with cinnamon and sugar. It was so good I almost ordered a second one to go, I mean light and flaky and sweet. The applies were cooked but still firm. I’m craving it right now just thinking about it.

Either everyone else who eats here has a cast iron stomach or I just got unlucky. It takes a lot for me to give a restaurant a 1-star rating, but getting sick from the food just about does it. I ordered the Grilled Atlantic Salmon dinner and, at first glance, it looked appetizing and portions were abundant. So, I ate it over the course of 2 sittings, both times when I was perfectly healthy. The first time, I thought I felt ill from a beverage, so I gave my stomach a rest and decided to eat the rest of the salmon when I was feeling better the next day… and that’s what I did, confirming that the salmon was the problem. At over $ 18, this was an expensive lesson, and one that’s led me to swear off of Cattlemens. Whatever you do, I recommend staying away from their salmon or even the seafood in general.
