Their chicharron sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I have ever tasted! It is made with slow cooked and fried pork served with sweet potatoes and criolla on top. I LOVED it! I was hesitant to go in because of its hole in the wall location, but this place is a gem for sure!

Lomo Sandwich was delicious! Didn’t think a sandwich would be a must have, but if you like beef & want some grilled veggies. Definitely recommend it

This place has good food, I recommend the lomo Saltado or tallarin Saltado plate. I would give 5 stars if their green sauce was hotter.

I’ve been here three times and I have always ordered the Lomo Saltado Sandwich. I know I should try other things, but when you know you LOVE something its hard not to order again and again. This time I ordered some Yuca fries and plantain.(I had no idea what yuca fries were, so that was my adventure for the day). I’m about as white as you can get, so my taste buds are not accustomed to the fries and plantain — but I thought they were ok, maybe tp a Peruvian it would be a home run. However, the Lomo Saltado Sandwich is something I dream about and was awesome, as always — the bread is phenomenal. What was nice about ordering the sides, is they gave me some green sauce(don’t know what it is) that was delicious poured on my sandwich — sent the taste over the top. BTW, this is a small restaurant, with a few seats and gets very packed — I always take my order to go.

A little nook of a place but definitely won’t disappoint! Lomo saltado sandwich or plate are the best! We also tried their pionono and their macarons, it’s ok. Service is good.

The Peruvian Hamburger was really good. Fresh and everything tasted perfect. Really enjoyed the fried egg and plantains on the burger. Got it with a side of fries, which needed to be cooked in a hotter fryer, as they were on the limp and soggy side. Next time I will get with a side of the plantains. I will go back again and try other menu items. I have already recommended this place to coworkers.

The food was delicious! From the sandwiches to the yucca fries! Definitely ordering here again. I do want to take the time to give a special shout out to Mayra, who bent over backwards for our table. She made sure we got our food, got to-go bags and even went back to help with the preparation. We came for the food and stayed for the service

So I’m not from around here but I need to drop my girlfriend off at the doctors office so I decided to look around for some restaurants in the area. That’s where I stumbled onto Micas Peruvian sandwiches. At first I noticed a small dining area, then the simple, yet perfect selection of anything from traditional entrée of lomo Saltado or arroz chaufa to their own little sand which creations, I myself went with the Peruvian burger because it just looked so epic, and then I bit into it and it tasted just as good. I am only sad that I live 30 minutes away from this place and can’t just swing by once a week, because I absolutely good. Craving a Carl Jrs, a Big Mac of whopper? Forget that, for the same price come drive by this place and try anything, literally anything. I’ll be sure to try those alfajores(traditional Peruvian cookie sandwiches) next time!!!

A great little hole in the wall. I had the Loma Salgado plate and it was delicious. Not the best cuts of meat but seasoned and cooked wonderfully with crispy fries that held up to all of the juices. Tomatoes and rice made for a filling dish. No bathrooms for customers = 1 less star.

Went here during my lunch and decided to give this a shot. Small little, I mean little. Probably about 5 tables. No restrooms. Be aware. The staff is friendly and helpful. A good size menu. If you aren’t aware of the menu, just try something. You probably won’t be disappointed. I myself got the Lomo Saltado Sandwich with a side of Yuca fries. Yum! Very good. Good size portion. Wish the Yuca fries had a bit of more salt. I also got a Chicha Morada. Could be better. Needs more limes. Maybe I am being a bit bias, since I am Peruvian and all, I would come back and keep trying new things. QUEVIVAPERU!

I’m a big fan of this place! We found it randomly on our way back from Mammoth last year. It has become my go-to lunch spot when we drive back from Mammoth. It is very basic. You walk in, order at the counter, and take a seat. I’ve tried my favorite peruvian dishes: arroz chaufa con pollo and lomo saltado. They have the green creamy aji sauce that seems impossible to find anywhere in SD. The ladies that work there are always very nice, the prices are very affordable, the food is good and the service is fast. What else can you ask for?

When reality is greater than expectation, it leads to happiness. That’s what this small 14+ seats/5 tables place delivers. I have my favorite authentic Peruvian food in the South Bay area and was thinking about how good this place can be in this area? It turned out that the food is delicious. That being said, expect a relatively slow… service, inconsistently cooked fries, and melted/deformed Styrofoam container that they used to serve hot spaghetti for you(minus one star for all of these)! Five stars for: * Chicharron Sandwich(great crunchy texture and seasoning) * Spaghetti Al Pesto(and the chicken bits on it) * Alfajores(almost melt-in-your-mouth kind of good) It’s located in the corner of the plaza by Archibald and 8th Street. I will come back if I’m in the area, but I’ll probably not be ordering the spaghetti cuz the deformed Styrofoam container due to heat(possibly carcinogenic) freaked me out a little.

3.5 stars. I’ve been here a few times and like their lomo saltado. It’s the go-to meal at most Peruvian places and they offer a good version at Mica’s. Two differences I’ve noticed in their version: 1. they use thinner slices of steak and 2. when ordering the sandwich version, they use ciabatta bread(I prefer when it’s served on a bolillo, the torpedo-style Mexican bread). Note: the sandwich is sold by itself, but for an additional $ 1.30 you’ll get fries and a fountain drink, which is worth it. Lomo saltado just isn’t the real thing without fries. Honestly, if you’re going to order the lomo saltado, pay the extra money and get the regular plate. You’ll get more of everything and instead of bread, it’s served over rice, which like the fries, makes the dish. It’s simply better tasting and more filling when you have the fries and rice soaking up all of the lomo saltado deliciousness. Unfortunately, the aji sauce, a typically amazing condiment and one of my favorite things about eating Peruvian food, is too creamy and not spicy enough at Mica’s. It’s like a creamy Ranch dressing consistency and a fail for my taste buds. If they ever change the aji sauce, my rating goes up to 4 stars. The hole-in-wall restaurant is small, but they’ve managed to cram a lot of seating in the space for a quick bite. I love that there’s usually a futbol game on the television. Service is friendly and you won’t wait too long for your food.

The lomo saltado here is phenomenal. Went with a cousin to check this place out. He was totally sold on the idea of Peruvian dishes served in sandwich form. He ordered a lomo saltado sandwich combo with the fried plantains as his side. Every bite was thoroughly enjoyed by him. My cousin really liked that the lomo saltado sandwich came served on a ciabatta roll. I ordered the standard lomo saltado plate. I was not disappointed. We also tried the salchipapas as our appetizer. It’s basically thinly sliced hot dogs, fried, and served atop a bed of french fries and then garnished with mustard and ketchup. It was simple, yet quite delicious. Oh, and I really like the quaint interior of the restaurant. And how the menu is written in chalk on the walls. And the staff here were all pleasant and nice. I would definitely return.

We visited the new Mica’s restaurant off of Haven Ave. in Rancho. We decided to order Leche de Tigre ceviche and I noticed there was some type of stringy plastic fiber as i was about to take the first bite. Therefor we called the waitress over to inform her what we found in the ceviche. She quickly stated that it must be part of the onions but we showed her that it wasnt a piece of onion it was actually a piece of plastic fiber or hair particle. It was pretty disgusting! She offered to give us a new ceviche bowl which we accepted. We couldnt believe it, the second ceviche bowl that she brought to us had a black hair in it. My boyfriend and I almost threw up, that was so gross! We both decided just to leave and not eat anything. We highly recommend people that eat at this restaurant to make sure they scrutinized their food before they start eating. We noticed that the cooks were not wearing hair nets and to make matter worst the service was terrible. We also ordered pollo a la brasa which did not look fresh at all. I will never returned to this restaurant!!!

We were off on one of our«I don’t know, wadda ya want to do today?» adventures. First on the list, a quick visit to our all time favorite, local, triple cream sherry winery that opens for one just week in November(yep, Rancho de Philo). That’s yet another review, but just had to throw that in for you curious ones. That got our taste buds going. Sweet Autumn weather, clean air, superb sipping sherry, I had to keep the momentum going and make sure we did something out of the ordinary for lunch. And that’s when I found Mica’s. Mica’s is a teeny, tiny, hole-in-the-wall, mostly to-go food kinda place, that is wedged into a very ordinary strip mall. Blink, you missed it. It seemed really crowded, but that was because, for its tiny interior, there were about 6 people in front of us in line and another 4 sitting at their teeny tiny tables. Pictures pasted everywhere displaying mostly Peruvian dishes and sandwiches, and special offerings not on the menu, and a TV featuring a soccer game, that was pretty much the décor. I have not had a good Lomo Saltado in a long time, so that was the first thing that caught my eye. What impressed me with this dish was the tender beef strips. Usually the meat is tasty but tough. This was not tough. The onions, tomatoes, and seasonings were all done correctly, and the soy sauce based juices soaked into the French fries superbly. I was happy. We ordered one pork tamale, a good choice. It was about the size of a deck of cards, plenty to share. The masa was quite firm and reddish brown in appearance, with the seasoning out of the ordinary as compared to a Mexican tamale. There was a lot of lean pork in the middle, maybe a little too lean for my taste. It was steamed in banana leaf which offers yet another dimension. The beef empanada was the next thing we tried. It starts with a savory ground beef filling that also includes some hard boiled egg. The pastry dough was slightly sweet, but quite nice and a good contrast with the meat. My only complaint was that they also sprinkled some powdered sugar over that savory hand pie. Since they cook these to order, that is controllable. I would definitely order this again. The final choice was a cup of fish ceviche. I love Peruvian ceviche, a little bit different than the Mexican style, the white fish was marinated in a spicy lime juice, seasoned with cilantro and pickled red onion. This was definitely a winner. The topping of crunchy little corn nuts, called cancha, added great texture and flavor. Because of the issue of space, most people we saw come in were taking their orders to go. However, there are a few large concrete tables outside, an option if the weather is amenable. That would mean this is dog friendly as well. Loved finding this little spot. Not much on appearances, we appreciated the food and friendly atmosphere. Just an aside, they were«slammed» while we were there, so the wait for service was a bit slow in the beginning. We had to clear our own table, but a nice lady wiped down the table and gave us some menus, and eventually took our order. All in all, well worth the little mis-steps at the beginning.
