I’m not sure about the bad reviews given, I’m Chinese and I like this restaurant. U can tell they r serious about their food. I’ve eaten enough Chinese food to know the difference, other Chinese restaurants nearby suck. Only this one is good enough for me to return to. It’s more of a take out restaurant because their dine in is very laid bak, not the formal kind. If you don’t care about formal services and don’t mind the casual environment, then dine there and save a few bucks on leaving tips. The employees there r very friendly and don’t really care if u leave a tip or not. I usually don’t require much service when I dine in and help myself couple of times so tip is not necessary and sometimes I only leave $ 1 and they r happy. Overall this place is definitely worth a try and price is great for its quality. PS: owner is a great honest Chinese guy. He gave the extra money back to an old man that probably has Alzheimer’s and ask the old man if he needs help going home.

This place is one of the best take out places. I have been to few Chinese restraunts worth eating in… And usually they are buffets. I eat take out and at restraunts a lot and choose this restruant for Chinese take out.

My family and I are visiting the area and found this place on Unilocal. The reviews looked decent enough so we decided to give it a try. Upon arrival, we informed the host that we were a party of 7. Instead of making the effort to move tables around to accommodate our rather large party, one person said«It is too much work» to move the tables. The food was decent, nothing extraordinary. This restaurant is just not equipped to serve in-house customers. They did not have proper water glasses, as we were served water in small plastic cups. If you do decide to venture out to this place, carry-out is your best option.

In my humble opinion, If you want REALLY want bad, no I mean DISGUSTINGBAD Chinese food, then order from Ramsey Chinese at 37 W. Main Street in Ramsey NJ. Their phone number is 201327‑9983. This place offers up the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. This evening we ordered the Young Chow Wonton Soup. The wanton were covered with a thick and doughy substance they dared to call a wanton skin. Inside we found a brown and tasteless mixture they think is meat. The spare ribs weren’t terrible but meaty they were not. The House Special Fried Rice was anything but special. We found a few slivers of something I think was chicken, a dozen or so green peas, two slices of carrot and 3 minuscule shrimp. Give me a break. This was truthfully pitiful. The General Tso’s Chicken could have been anything. I’ll simply refer to it as mystery meat covered with a thick pasty concoction that should have been a light coating of flour. The sauce was devoid of any discernible flavor. The shrimp and lobster sauce, a large serving, had 6 small shrimp covered with a watery mix of saltwater and cornstarch. They did add two snow peas and a few green peas. This dinner left me totally disgusted. You’ve been fairly warned … Unless you want as a poorly prepared and disgusting meal as I was presented with, I would highly recommend that you try another Chinese Restaurant … one who knows how to prepare real and decent Chinese food.

Food was ok but delivery took an hour and a half! Way more than the 35 minutes quoted. Wouldn’t order again

This is the best Chinese restaurant in my area in my opinion. Consistently good food and fast delivery. Seems healthier and less greasy then some of the others.

Edit: I’m downgrading this place from 5 star to 3. One thing I always liked about this place was its consistency in food. But maybe they’ve been changing chefs lately, but the taste has gone downhill. DEAROWNER: Don’t use pre-boiled meat for your dishes. I know it speeds up cooking, but you’re completely defeating the purpose of Chinese cuisine. Meats need charring from wok in order to get proper flavoring. —– I’ve been going to Ramsey Chinese for years, and unsung heros of its kitchen continue to dish out fine-tasting cuisine at breakneck speed under authoritarian leadership of the owner with a penchant for wearing Mao Ze Dong t-shirt. All their dishes have robust flavors that can only emerge from a combination of high-BTU open flame and hand-pounded artisan wok with 5 microns of slowly developed iron patina. Having grown up as a kid whose father had a massive expense account, I’ve been spoiled with some fine tasting cuisine. And these guys clearly know what they are doing. I highly recommend you try their beef with hot garlic sauce. Don’t worry if you can’t find it on their menu. Just ask for it. The only dish I would avoid is the kung-pao chicken, but only because I have such high standards.

Went here on a Saturday evening. Not much in the way of décor, but it’s takeout Chinese — does that really matter? Service was pleasant. Food came out fairly quickly and hot. Crispy home fried noodles came complimentary, and they were all right. We ordered the steamed pork dumplings and the jalapeño chicken, wife ordered the lo mein. Pork dumplings were fairly solid. On the small side and a bit doughy, but the pork filling was surprisingly tasty and flavorful. Jalapeño chicken was very dry. Chicken did not have much flavor and was dry and stringy. Onions and jalapeños with the dish were ok. Wife enjoyed her lo mein. I felt the meat was a bit dry and flavorless, although the noodles were not too bad, with some sweetness and spiciness. Overall, I was not a huge fan. However, I lived in China for several months and grade Chinese food on a very tough scale. Unless I’m really in the mood, I don’t like most takeout places. But if you’re really in the mood or not as discerning regarding Chinese food, this is probably the best place in Ramsey.

Cheapest Chinese in the area and it’s pretty decent! Went yesterday and honestly think they changed the chef… for the better. Have enjoyed everything we’ve gotten but it never blows us away. Typical Americanized Chinese, but for cheap!

I haven’t tried the specials but their chicken and broccoli was average. White rice was falling apart, I could barely eat it with my chopsticks.

Their daily specials written on a dry-erase board on the wall is authentic Chinese food. So go inside and order off this menu rather than the paper menu. When they have them on the dry-erase menu, they make a mean salt-and-spicy squid and sauteed chinese broccoli.

I would have to say that this is the best Chinese take out place in the area: 1) I was introduced to it by a Chinese coworker 2) Every time I have come to the restaurant there is a crowd of people waiting for food. 3) Very economical and friendly. Appearance could deduct a star but did not feel like it deserved 4 stars. Very good food/restaurant in its class.

It’s not horrible but I wouldn’t write home about it. Does the job. If you order a lunch special be explicitly clear about it. Twice I’ve seen them haggling with someone over whether they ordered the lunch or dinner one. Just a heads up.
