Great options. Not your typical brewery with many IPAs(there aren’t any). Very unique beers and they are so DELICIOUS. My favorites are the sours(which are seasonal),-and two of their flagships– 1850 Runner(running porter) and the Weiss(berliner weisse)! Great location, always friendly staff, and a Thai place that delivers. Support the locals!

Nice stop after a hike! Small joint, small rotating beer list, friendly service. Got the 6 taster flight and had a little of everything. I liked the sours… Nice and tart and refreshing. A couple of the beers were a but watery for my taste but I’d come back if I was in the area to try some others.

Great micro brew and definitely worth the visit. If you’re a fan of stouts then you’ll love this place. Give the Dowser a try!

Happen to run into this place after a bunch of us went paintballing. Nice small spot to take in a flight. or 2. The Conductor(9%) is the tits Very smooth and delicious. The Thai food kind of threw me for a loop though. I usually want a nice burger or pizza with my brewski All in all we had a good experience The Staff was awesome as well.

This is a really nice, friendly brewery that really makes you feel welcome. Try the stout, it’s one of the best I’ve had!

Quaint tasting room. Lots of unusual beers to try. While very well done, most are not my preference. I did think their East India Porter was very good. I was disappointed they didn’t have any Imperial Stout to try. I was surprised to not see an IPA. This is San Diego County so having a hoppy beer may be a good addition to bring folks in. Then they’ll try your other beers.

LOVE this place! Great assortment of interesting beers(not just IPAs — which are too hoppy for me). The best testament to how fresh the beer is was that I didn’t have my normal headache that I get after only one beer. I had a porter that was outstanding and the prices were very reasonable as well. This is a small-town gem, don’t miss it!

ChuckAlek delightfully tasting beers that will be appreciated by any beer enthusiast! I had the honor to visit this brewery in Ramona. I appreciate the small town warmness this brewery has to offer. I quickly made friends with fellow patrons. Most great breweries have humble beginnings and if they don’t what is really gained from over night success? I like Other Local Breweries like GreenFlash, Saint Archer, Ballast Point, just to name a few. ChuckAlek possesses something that sets them apart, personality and a story for every beer, along with great taste. If you have a broad palette this is the place for you. I look at the beer as an adventure. I can go after an IPA almost anywhere. Why not travel some of the roads that haven’t been traveled in some time?

Fantastic«old world» style beers made with what you can tell is real passion. I had the pleasure to stopping in on a quiet Saturday afternoon and try a bunch of their craft beers. I love the idea of the vintage/old school recipes and the variety in which they are offered. Everything from lagers to stouts are offered and I found all to be approachable for the«seasoned» craft beer drinker to even the casual drinker.

Small local brewery. Great selection. More beers on tap than many breweries around San Diego. Friendly service. Great prices. Very good beer. If they could improve on anything it would maybe be getting some TV’s up by the bar as I love their beer, but I also love watching the padres games.

Cool little hidden gem in Romona, definitely worth the drive. Finally a place that’s not obsessed with IPAs. Great beer, nice atmosphere, and very knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend this place for a good beer.

What a cool place! If you blink you may drive right by it so be on the lookout! Now, on with the beer! 1) ChuckAlek was doing a special beer event and were featuring different kinds of beer so I only was able to try a few of their«signature» beers. I am not necessarily a dark beer kind of girl but I’m willing to try anything. The actual ChuckAlek regular beer they did have on tap were delicious. TRYTHEDOWSER! 2) The atmosphere is so laid back and chill. There are multiple large tables where you can sit back and hang out with friends. There was also a crêpe maker outside in case you were looking for a tasty treat 3) We met the owners and were SO impressed! To actually give us a private tour and take the time to explain their operations and their passion was really a great experience that sometimes you lose on the bigger brewery tours. 4) I am VERY excited to return to ChuckAlek again in the very near future and try all of their specific beer and really provide my regular beer review/thoughts. Ramon is gaining popularity with all of their wineries but do yourself a favor and stop by ChuckAlek for a craft brew adventure!

This place is absolutely worth the trek out if you don’t already live in Ramona. Their European inspired beer comes from their heritage and their time spent there. I imagine these beers are mostly true to their roots but have the ChuckAlex touch that brings a contemporary twist to the beer’s old world styles. Regardless, these beers are actually a very much needed departure from the same ol’ pale ale breweries around here. As a home-brewer I can say that, this would probably be one of the most interesting breweries to work at in all of San Diego County. I mean just look at the rich diversity of their beer styles and the deep history surrounding each of them. Their amazing East India Porter takes me to the late 1800’s and makes me imagine I’m having a young Barclay Perkins East India Porter at a simple pub with friendly people. Anyways, each one of these beers has a depth and complexity I could go on about, but it’s best if you just take a trip out to Ramona and try it for yourself.

Last night was the Summer Reserve Party and 4 course beer pairing dinner at ChuckAlek. Good attendance, with fantastic pairings chosen by Cicerone Erik and Chef Adrian Moor. First course was a four ounce taster of the new summer reserve Bavarian hefeweisen, all yeasty and yummy, paired with a shrimp escabeche, a ceviche-style cold salad of shrimp cured in citrus served on a corn tortilla tostada-style with fresh avocado crema and chipotle aioli to compliment. Each was absolutely delicious on their own and in the combination. Then, while waiting for course #2, time for a pint of Oaked India Porter on cask. I should have shot a video of the gorgeous pour expertly performed by Marta. Makes Guinness look lame. Such beautiful pinpoint foam with no added gas of any kind. Delicious! Get some before its gone! Next was Pork belly steam bun. Chef Moor did a great job on this delight. Basically a blini filled with juicy, tender pulled pork belly, topped with a coarse cut slaw and cucumber strip with a dash of hoisin to give it a little more flavor texture. The blini was perhaps a bit doughy, but in all and given the challenging pop-up kitchen situation, well executed. This was paired with the brewery’s Breton porter and the malty goodness complimented the pork and slaw. The third course was a slice from an absolutely beautiful cut of Black angus Tenderloin. It was as picturesque as it was tender and delicious. This was served over cooked carrots and summer veg, orrichette pasta and feta, all topped by a fesh chimichurri sauce. A killer combo. The supporting veg was every bit as tasty as the meat. How often does that happen? Paired was ChuckAlek’s La Cappellana, a classic ale, which was light and didn’t overpower the delicate flavors of the dish. Last course was the true experiment of the evening. «Beer-A-Misu», a play on a classic tiramisu, but bolder and tastier made with the brewer’s beer and, get this, essence of brewers malt in the whipped cream topping. Sounds odd, but was an earthy delicious taste that truly befit the evening without being over the top. This was paired with their ‘Conductor’, a delicious Baltic Porter. Strong and stout to complement the sweet dessert. A dessert offering truly worthy of a four star eclectic food establishment on the coast. And then, like a Ronco ad, wait — there’s more: two quart bottles of the Summer Reserve Hefeweisen hand bottled, signed and numbered by founder and brewmaster Grant himself to take home as parting gifts from the show. Can’t wait to get one out of the fridge during the heat on Sunday or Monday. Fantastic meal, great beer and good company. Great eclectic folks all enjoying the tastes and magic of the evening. I hope this becomes a recurring activity! Well done Grant, Erik, Marta and Chef Moor. Only missing celebrity was the infamous Buttermilk!

Crazy strange but fun and awesome beers! The tasting room is really nice. They have a little tasting bar on one side and a bunch of tables and chairs on one side. The person helping us was very nice and all the patrons seemed friendly. They only have small growlers which is weird but they will fill any regular size growler that you bring with you. The beers are by far some of the most unique and unusual ones I have ever had. They are good, just different which is really nice.

ChuckAlek has managed to brew interesting and unique beers even though the county is crawling with microbreweries. They focus on old-world style beers using malts and hops to create refreshingly different beers. I’ve been here many times and I always start with a flight because the head brewer produces new styles regularly. Aside from well crafted, clean beers, this brewery is also an excellent place to hang out. There are always food options from food trucks or they set up a grill and you can buy delicious meat from Bisher’s next door. There growler prices are very reasonable and I always bring something home for later. ChuckAlek has great beer, amazing owners who are almost always on site, and many happy customers.

Chuckalek is a breath of fresh air for those searching for fresh micro brewed beer in North-East county. I’ve been to several breweries in San Diego and they are all about big beers with big flavors. Which is great. But a lot of them lack originality. Don’t get me wrong, I love double IPAs and imperial stouts, but the beers at ChuckAlek are different. Their unique and original beers with an emphasis on heritage are wonder and complex. Being from Southern California they are like nothing I have ever tasted. I highly recommend the The Husser which has a nice smokey taste with a nice hoppyness that will even appeal to IPA heads like myself. Brenton is also a delicious and unique take on the classic porter style. I know it’s out of the way, but it is well worth the drive. And if you like in Ramona like I do, then you are super lucky.

If you like great-tasting beer that’s brewed with originality in mind, ChuckAlek is well worth a visit! ChuckAlek is a welcome addition to the north county brewery scene. A small operation with a variety of nicely-crafted beers, they clearly care about their craft and their customers. One thing I really appreciated was that they don’t fall back on the super-hopped, Double IPA approach that some of microbreweries do. I love an IPA, but there’s more to life than beers that could give you a nosebleed. Just my opinion. ChuckAlek offer a couple of ‘tasting flight’ options, as well as pints and growlers. In addition, they had caterers come on the night I was there so great sandwiches, soups and even hot pretzels were also available for purchase. I tried the 6-beer flight: My favorites were ‘Dowser’ and ‘Breton’,(a Dusseldorf Alt bier and a Porter, respectively). The Pale Ale is also good. Check them out!
